Politics / Re: On Secession: A Legal Perspective by MadamT(f): 7:06pm On Dec 30, 2015
As a quiet observer on these forums, I must say this thread is one of the very best I've read here.

I normally avoid posting on Nairaland as I see some posters running rampage, insulting all and sundry. I'm not for that so I stay mostly on offline read mode only.

But I've logged on today so I can post a well done to the OP (Kayfra), Super1star, TruthToPower and few more for addressing points with facts and not emotions.

This, IMO, is the type of thread to take to front page.

Health / Re: What To Do When Someone Has A Seizure(pics) by MadamT(f): 6:25pm On Nov 30, 2015
I hardly post on Nairaland but thought this is a topic I can participate in.

No, seizures are not hereditary nor contagious

The link below is a fantastic site for anyone who wants to know more about the condition, its causes, symptoms, medications and so on.

Well done for this thread OP.

Hope the awareness of this condition continues to be raised in Nigeria.

Travel / Re: UK Residents, Please Read...please by MadamT(f): 8:25pm On Dec 08, 2014
A UK resident/citizen of 27 years here. I'm also a business owner and employer. All I can say is that it will be difficult if she doesn't have her papers.

I see this all the time and I feel for people in this situation, however, as anemployer, no matter how you feel for people, you cannot joke with your livelihood. There are quite severe repercussions to the business if you employ people without the right to work in the UK. It's even more risky in the line of professional I'm in.

Anyway, good luck to your aunt. The Lord will make a way for her somehow.

Why is the maid's picture also not doing the rounds?

Her photo/s should be on display on social media and everywhere!
Romance / Re: What's The Factor That's Kept Your Relationship Or Marriage Till Today. by MadamT(f): 10:27am On Nov 02, 2014
First post on Nairaland! Been visiting the site for years as a guest though. Only just decided to join.

Ok. My contribution to the thread.

Been happily married for 25 years. Our 26th wedding anniversary is in 3 months by the grace of God.

What has kept us going?

God first and foremost. Then Love, determination, mutual trust, respect and understanding. We are each other's best friends. Extremely loyal to each other. My husband makes me laugh and I him. We have similar sense of humour. Even living through some of the tough times we have lived through (and by God there have been plenty!), God still grants us the grace to laugh and joke about like we are teenagers.

We also have loads in common. For example, we sit and watch football together. And I know all the offside rules etc. lol! We always have loads to talk about. He's the first one I talk to about everything and vice versa.

Closeness and friendship are important in a marriage. These two play crucial parts in sustaining a marriage when the early euphoria has subsided and when the inevitable day to day reality and challenges rear their heads. You need these to see you through.
