VENGEANCE OF THE SPIRIT

In a quiet village surrounded by thick forests and whispering winds, there once lived a man named Obinna, known for his wealth and power. He owned farmlands that stretched beyond sight, but behind his riches lay a dark secret—one built on betrayal and blood.

Many years ago, Obinna’s business partner, Chike, mysteriously vanished after a heated dispute over land ownership. Villagers whispered that Obinna had something to do with it, but no one dared to confront him. Life went on... until the night the wind began to speak.

It started softly — a woman’s cry echoing through the trees, drifting into Obinna’s compound. Dogs howled. Lamps flickered. Each night, the sound grew louder, closer, until it seemed to whisper his name:

> “Obinna… remember me…”

Sleep deserted him. He would wake drenched in sweat, hearing footsteps in his hallway, even when the doors were locked. One morning, his servants found strange handprints—wet, muddy, and small—on his bedroom wall.

Days turned into terror. His crops rotted overnight. His well turned red as if stained with blood. And in the mirror, he began to see a shadow — not his own — standing behind him.

Then came the night of reckoning.
The rain fell hard, lightning tearing open the sky. As Obinna shouted into the storm, a voice answered from the darkness. Out of the mist appeared Chike’s spirit, his eyes hollow, his body dripping as though fresh from the river.

> “You took my life,” the spirit hissed, “but not my soul. Tonight, I take yours.”

By morning, the villagers found Obinna’s mansion silent. His door was open, but no one was inside. Only a pool of water on the floor — and the faint sound of footsteps leading toward the river.

They say that on certain nights, when the wind blows and thunder grumbles over the forest, you can still hear Obinna crying for mercy…
But vengeance never sleeps.
