The Supreme Court has adjourned till March 3 the judgement on a suit filed by ten states, asking the apex court to restrain the Muhammadu Buhari regime from fully implementing the naira redesign policy.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Babatunde Fashola, has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disclose the number of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) that have been collected nationwide.
Naija News reports that Fashola called on the electoral body to give a breakdown of PVCs collected by registrants in each State and Local Government Area of the country
The Director of Election Planning and Monitoring of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) stated this at a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja.

Fashola stated that the disclosure of the number of PVCs collected nationwide will help INEC to reinforce the credibility of the forthcoming elections and results

According to the Minister of Works and Housing, the ruling party is prepared for the election and has trained polling agents who will be deployed across the polling units in the country.

He said, “We are prepared. We have trained agents. We are in the home stretch of the election and we think it is important now that INEC, the regulator, let us, all the parties and the nation, know how many people actually collected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

I think it is very important for the credibility of the results and the credibility of the elections. We have been acquainted with how many people were registered, but we don’t have the number of how many people who collected PVCs and that is very important to ask.

And I think I speak the minds of all the parties; how many people collected PVCs, the breakdown of the PVCs collection per state and per local government, and to every unit of electoral activity that INEC can provide that information.

We think it is a very important piece of information that will help INEC reinforce the credibility of the exercise that it is undertaking. Other than that, we are busy doing what we do best – preparing, planning.”

Former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress, Adams Oshiomhole has publicly tackled President Muhammadu Buhari over his government’s Naira redesign policy.

The former Edo Governor made his outburst at Jattu market in Auchi Edo North, saying Buhari had no alternative but to respect the Supreme Court's decision because it superceded his directive on the policy.

He wondered why Buhari did not implement the same policy on the eve of his re-election in 2019, and why he was now attempting to sabotage another person's election with such policy.

He pleaded with the market women not to throw away their old money because, according to the Supreme Court, their Naira was still legal tender.

He also stated that the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emiefele, would “expire” after this Saturday.

Speaking in pidgin English, he said, “All this wahala wey Buhari put for currency change, my hand no dey inside. Our party don tell Buhari, wait if you want change currency, you should not change ham during election. Wetin you no change during your time, you wan make ham spoil another pesin time, e no good. At this point, nah only good we go dey fear.

“He has to obey the Supreme Court. Supreme Court judgement is superior to the pronouncement of the president. That is the Nigerian law. Under Nigerian Democracy, the Supreme Court once it pronounced, the president must obey. Because every where I go, I disassociate myself. Because the truth is, the money in your hand, no be you print ham. The colour wey e wear. No be you choose ham.

“Nah them choose ham. If the say dey want to change it, make them give you the new ones. Now they want to remove the old ones, they no give you the new ones. So if you have the old money, don’t throw it away. On this matter, President Buhari is on his own. Your Naira will remain valid according to the Supreme Court. Don’t throw away your Naira, keep it.
