Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi has vowed to make his last Africa Cup of Nations one to remember for Nigeria and believes his presence in the squad could be a crucial factor in their bid for success.

The midfielder, 32, concedes this will certainly be his last appearance on the continental showpiece event and possibly for his country. “It’s been an amazing ride for me in the national team,” Mikel told BBC Sport.
"Obviously winning the Nations Cup in South Africa was the high point, that’s why I want to help this young team to hopefully achieve their dreams. Thirteen years I think is enough. I’ve won trophies, I’ve had a lot of amazing time.

I think it’s time for these young guys to carry on. I’m mostly here in Egypt to support the young guys and make sure they’re on the right track. I think my presence is always important for them, hopefully I can finish with the trophy.”

Mikel has won a total of 89 caps for Nigeria, playing for them in the past two World Cups and helping the Super Eagles win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. He also helped Nigeria finish third at the 2006 and 2010 Nations Cups. He has made two appearances for his country at the ongoing tournament in Egypt, but missed their last-16 tie through injury as Nigeria secured a quarter-final date against South Africa with a 3-2 win over bitter rivals Cameroon.

Now Mikel is determined to play a part in Nigeria’s quest for a fourth continental title. “If I’m fit, I’d love to play in the quarterfinal, but no need to rush. Hopefully if we can make it to the semi-finals I’ll probably be ready then and help the team if I’m needed. A finalist with the youth side at the under-20 World Cup in 2005, the former Chelsea player believes he has had a successful run for the West African nation.

Obviously winning the Nations Cup in South Africa was the high point, that’s why I want to help this young team to hopefully achieve their dreams. If we are able to win it here, I’ll be proud and they’ll be proud, then they can carry on from here” he added.

He was also one of Nigeria’s three over-age players as the African side won a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

A King County, Wash., judge allegedly signed off on the order, according to Bloomberg.

As previously reported by FOX Business, the divorce – one of the largest ever – was expected to be made official this week.

MacKenzie Bezos is expected to receive a 4 percent stake or 19.7 million shares in the e-commerce giant, which is about one-quarter of the shares the two owned together.

She is slated to receive $38 billion – making her one of the top five richest women in the world and one of Amazon’s largest shareholders.

Bloomberg reported she would be 22nd on its Bloomberg Billionaires index, a “ranking of the world’s 500 richest people.” Jeff Bezos will retain a 12 percent stake worth around $114.8 billion. He will remain the world’s richest person, according to Bloomberg.

The Amazon CEO and the novelist announced they were getting divorced after 25 years of marriage in January. They have four children together.

In May, MacKenzie Bezos pledged to give away half her fortune to charity. She signed The Giving Pledge, a campaign created by billionaire Warren Buffett, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda Gates, to prompt the ultra-wealthy to pledge at least half their fortune to charitable causes.

Jeff Bezos commended his wife for her philanthropy.

The Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction of five oil thieves for illegal dealing in petroleum products.

The convicts who were charged before Justice I.M. Sani of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, include: Tajudeen Kolawole, Jamal Lawan, Aljahi Usman Wada, Godiya James and Rufus Animi.


Wada, James and Animi were arraigned on July 3, 2019 while Kolawole and Lawan were arraigned on July 4, 2019. The charge against Wada reads:

“That you, Alhaji Usman Wada on or about the 6th of August, 2017 at Port Harcourt within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court did distribute petroleum products (AGO) conveyed in a white DAF truck with registration number RNG 496 XA and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 4(1) of Petroleum Act, Cap P10, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) 2004 and punishable under Section 4(6) of the Same Act.”

He pleaded “guilty” to the one-count charge.



In view of his plea, counsel for the EFCC, M.T. Iko prayed the court to convict and sentence him accordingly. Defence counsel, A.M. Eyan did not oppose the prayer.

Justice Sani thereafter convicted and sentenced Wada to one year in prison with an option of fine of N100,000 and ordered that the products conveyed in the truck be forfeited to the Federal Government.

The judge also ordered that the truck involved in the case be returned to the owner. The charge against James reads:

“That you, Godiya James sometimes in April 2019 at Port Harcourt within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court did distribute about 80 nylon bags of petroleum products (AGO) conveyed in truck with registration number MKD 172 ZN and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 4(1) of Petroleum Act, Cap P10, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) 2004 and punishable under Section 4(6) of the Same Act"

He pleaded “guilty” to the charge.

In view of his plea, counsel for the EFCC, F.O. Amama prayed the court to convict and sentence him accordingly.

Defence counsel, A.M. Saliu did not oppose the prayer.


Justice Sani thereafter convicted and sentenced him to one year in prison with an option of fine of N100,000 and ordered that the products conveyed in the truck be forfeited to the Federal Government. The judge also ordered that the truck involved in the case be returned to the owner.



The charge against Animi reads: “That you, Rufus Animi, sometimes in May, 2019, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court did distribute 40 drums of petroleum products (Automated Gas Oil) without a licence and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 4(1) of the Petroleum Act, CAP P10 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) 2004, and punishable under Section 4(6) of the same Act.”

He pleaded “guilty” to the charge.


In view of his plea, counsel for the EFCC, Samuel Chime urged the court to convict and sentence him accordingly.



Defence counsel, Babatunde Okpadola, however urged the court to temper justice with mercy. Justice Sani, thereafter, convicted and sentenced Animi to two years in prison with an option of fine of N50,000.



The charge against Kolawole reads: “That you, Tajudeen Kolawole, being the driver onboard a green Toyota Camry with Registration Number APP 988 BE Lagos State on or about the 21th day of June, 2019 at Port Harcourt, Rivers State, within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court dealt in petroleum products to wit: transporting 48 nylon bags of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) without appropriate licence or authority and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 4 (1) of the Petroleum Act CAP P10 of the Revised Edition (Laws of the Federation of Nigeria) 2007 and punishable under Section 4(6) of the same Act.”

He pleaded “guilty” to the charge.
Counsel for the EFCC, Ramiah Ikahanede and defence counsel, Adeyemi Adekunle agreed on the convict’s guilty plea.



Justice Sani, thus, convicted and sentenced him to a fine of N50,000.
The charge against Lawan reads: “That you, Kamal Lawan on or about September 2018, in Port Harcourt within the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court did distribute petroleum products (Automotive Gas Oil) without a licence and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 4(1) of Petroleum Act, CAP P10, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) 2004 and punishable under Section 4(6) of the same Act.”
He pleaded “guilty” to the one-count charge.



In view of his plea, counsel for the EFCC, Samuel Chime prayed the court to convict and sentence him accordingly.



Defence counsel, Babatunde Opadola did not oppose the prayer.
Subsequently, Justice Sani convicted and sentenced him to two years in prison with an option of fine of N100,000 and ordered that the products conveyed in the truck be forfeited to the Federal Government.

The Supreme Court, in a majority decision read by Justice Olabode Rodes-Vivour, this morning held that the failure of a member of the election tribunal, Justice Peter Obiora to sit on February 6, 2019 rendered the entire proceedings and the judgment given by the tribunal a nullity.

In the majority ruling, Acting CJN, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, Justice Rhodes-Vivour, Justice Kekere-Ekun, Justice Sanusi and Justice Abaaji consented to the majority judgment dismissing PDP’s appeals on Osun election. Justices Akaahs and Galinje dissented.

Acting CJ Tanko Muhammad


Justice Muhammad Tanko probably needs no introduction. He was sworn in as Acting Chief Judge by President Muhammadu Buhari earlier this year on January 25.

He was formerly a Justice of the Nigerian courts of appeal.

Tanko began his career in 1982, after he was Called to the bar in 1981, the same year he graduated from the Nigerian Law School. In 1989, he was appointed as Chief Magistrate of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, a position he held until 1991 when he became a Judge at the Bauchi State Sharia Court of Appeal. He served in that capacity for two years before he was appointed to the bench of the Nigerian courts of appeal as Justice in 1993. He held this position for thirteen years before he was appointed to the bench of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2006 but was sworn in on January 7, 2007.

Justice Rhodes-Vivour


Justice Rhodes-Vivour is a justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

In 1975, he joined the Lagos State Judiciary as State Counsel and later rose to the position of Director of Public Prosecutions in 1989, he held this position for five years before he was appointed as High Court Judge in 1994 and after eleven years of services in the Judiciary, he was appointed to the bench of the Nigerian courts of appeal as Justice in 2005. On August 2010, he was appointed to the bench of the Supreme Court of Nigeria as Justice, along with Justice Suleiman Galadima.

Justice Kekere-Ekun


Justice Kekere-Ekun is a justice of the Supreme court of Nigeria.

Justice Kudirat joined the Lagos State Judiciary as Senior Magistrate II and rose to the position of the State High Court Judge. She served as Chairman of Robbery and Firearms Tribunal, Zone II, Ikeja between November 1996 to May 1999. She was appointed to the bench of the Nigerian courts of appeal in 2004 before her appointment as Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in July 2013.

Justice Sanusi


Justice Sanusi was a judge in Katsina State between 1990 to 1998, before being commissioned to the Court of Appeal. Amiru Sanusi was sworn in by the former Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Mahmud Mohammed in May 2015.

Justice Uwani Abba Aji


After 14 years at the Court of Appeal, the Senate confirmed the appointment of Hon. Justice Uwani Musa Abba Aji as a justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria last year. The Yobe state born judge is the seventh woman appointed to the apex court and second from the North East after the retired Clara Bata Ogunbiyi (Borno State).

The first female justice of the Supreme Court it might interest you to know was Aloma Mariam Mukhtar who was sworn in as the first female justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2005.

The Kebbi Police Command has arrested six suspected rapists for assaulting and raping a married woman and two young girls in Warra, Ngaski Local Government Area of the state.



The Commissioner of Police in the state, Alhaji Garba Danjuma, who disclosed this to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, said that police patrol team attached to Warrah Division arrested one Usman Alhaji Lawal and two others for attacking one Safiya Audi, a married woman with cutlasses, robbing her of N92,250 and sexually assaulting her.



“On May 22, the police patrol team attached to Warra division arrested one Usman Lawal and two others, all from Garin Baka village of Ngaski Local Government for the offences. They allegedly attacked one Safiya Audi, a married woman with cutlasses and also robbed her of the sum of N92, 250 as well as sexually assaulted her. The police arrested the three suspects and recovered some exhibits from them; and all the suspects confessed to have committed the crime,” he said.



In a similar development, on June 10, one Badamasi Mamuda, 25, Yahuza Aliyu, 23 and Anas Abubakar, 20, all of Warra town, forcefully had canal knowledge of one Fatima Ibrahim, 13 and Shafa’atu Sani, also 13.

“All the suspected rapists have been arrested by the police and have confessed to the crime,” he said.



According to him, they will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.



The commissioner also said that his command under the ‘Operation Puff Adder’ had succeeded in arresting three suspected cattle rustlers in Arewa and Suru Local Government Areas.

“The suspects stole 29 goats and 2 cows. They are also suspected to be among the gang of cattle rustlers, who specialised in stealing animals along the border towns of Nigeria and Niger Republic through Arewa Local Government Area of the state,” he added.

A 26-year-old Nigerian man, Kumbha Roderick, who was serving a jail term in an Indian prison has died.



According to Times of India, Kumbha died during treatment at the district hospital on Wednesday July 3rd.



According to Indian police, Kumbha was arrested on September 30th 2018 by Mathura police for overstaying in a foreign country, forgery of valuable security, Forgery for purpose of cheating.



Mathura jail superintendent, Shailendra Maitrey, who confirmed the death of the Nigerian, said Kumbha was admitted to the jail’s hospital on Tuesday July 2nd after he complained of uneasiness. He added that the prisoner’s condition started deteriorating after he vomited and was rushed to the district hospital where he died during treatment.



Maitrey added that the exact cause of death would be ascertained only after postmortem.

Saudi Arabia has invited American rapper Nicki Minaj to perform in the country this month in an unusual move for the famously conservative kingdom.



Minaj is scheduled to headline the Jeddah World Fest, a music and performance festival, on July 18. DJ Steve Aoki and singer Liam Payne have also been announced, and the kingdom is offering quick online visas for international visitors.


The Saudi government in recent times has made efforts to relax some of its restrictions. Last year, a 35-year ban on movie theaters was lifted, and women were finally given the right to drive.



This year, Mariah Carey held her own concert in Saudi Arabia, despite backlash from women's rights activists. It's all part of an economic overhaul under Vision 2030, an effort to reduce the kingdom's reliance on oil. The kingdom is attempting to create economic activity at home and encourage citizens to spend their money within its borders.

On my way from IMO to abia this morning I met a boy trekking on a lonely highway, I was moved that he needs help: I pulled over and called him, he narrated a painful story.

He said he was 14years old and was trekking from IMO to bend local government in umuahia abia state. A journey over 30 killometers according to my findings he ran away from a woman he was serving as a maid.

He said the woman use to maltreat him to the extend he flogs him on the rip often. He has sleeped outside for three days. And this is the third time such thing is happening to him and made up his mind to trek home.

I took him and changed my direction to bende local government to the extent we got to a bad road I packed and pick a bike to over three extra kilometer which I paid 700 to motorbike and on the way got to a river that only leg can cross we walked/swim and crossed to his poor home.

The kids in the village and parents was happy that he was home.the parents said the madam called three days ago that he was missing. I m happy to help him home.

Please let's help others as we wish to be helped, kids are stubborn but which ever way control them with love or take them home if you don't want them to serve you again.

What of if he died in the forest? What if he landed in the hands of evil men.

Please what so ever you wish that men should do to you, do also to them.

President Donald Trump on Sunday shook hands with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as they met at the demilitarized zone that has divided the Korean peninsula for 66 years.



After shaking hands with Kim over the line that marks where their two countries and their allies fought each other to a standstill in the 1950-53 Korean War, Trump walked for several steps into North Korean territory, before another handshake.

The two men then walked into Seoul’s territory together pausing on the line for photographers where they were joined by South Korean President Moon Jae-in.



The impromptu meeting in the DMZ which came after Trump issued an invitation on Twitter on Saturday comes with negotiations between Pyongyang and Washington over the North’s nuclear arsenal at a deadlock.
