Hello Guys,

I want to renew my US visa. I meet the requirements, though i have not paid the fees yet i fiddled with the form a little. I realized it does not request for my details, it's picking my old details ( the one i was issued based on). Does this mean i wont fill out a new form? My circumstances have changed. Or would i go through the process once i pay and provide receipt numbers?

Please assist.

thanks a lot maestro for your contributions.. like i said i had to change my travel date too, but i have a justifiable reason and i had also made up arrangements for my accomodation to cover for the change in plans, although this new arrangements have now cut deep into my finances, thats why i'm asking if 1500gbp would be enough evidence of maintenance for my 1 month stay, that is if i'm asked to show it anyways.. thank you

Truth is, it's difficult to estimate if 1500GBP would suffice for the stated period. If you could shed more light on what you would be doing, if your host would be accommodating & feeding you etc., that may help. 1500GBP over a 1 month period is about 50GBP a day; that is not so bad. However, if you intend doing some major shopping then quite frankly that is not enough.

Let the experts answer this one. I truly may not give the right answer.

Yes you have to follow the info you volunteered and signed in your application, that is what your application was based on.

In the application you are asked how much the trip will cost you, how much you have in total for the trip, if somebody else will be paying for the trip. how much for hotel, flight....etc will cost you. You answered those questions based on the number days or weeks you will be staying, so if you stayed more than that...in this case 1 month then you are not doing yourself any good. Without any valid explanation you are likely to be refused a visa next time because your words can not be rely upon.

They look at the number of days you want to stay and how much you budget for it? So in this case you said you will be staying for 6days, shown that you have booked a hotel for 6days, return ticket and things you tend to do in those 6days. So how will you get to the UK and stay for one month on 6days budget?

The question will be...what were you doing in the remaining days? Working illegally probably?

You can't claim at the POE that a friend who is a citizen invited you in rather than staying in a hotel because you have already stated in your application form that you don't have anybody in the UK, that is misrepresentation and will lead to deportation.

Valid point Justwise. However, He was not given a visa because he stated he was staying for 6 days and declared a budget for same, he was given because he met predefined requirements. He had demonstrated that he would visit the UK and leave without overstaying.

In any case, your option is a safer bet. I just wanted to let the poster know that plans change and they (UK authorities) know that. So its not a matter of following what's in your application to the letter. You could state you are travelling in May then decide to go in June, no harm done. You could decide to stay in a hotel then along the line choose to stay with a friend (which they may attempt to verify) still no harm done. It is not automatic deportation.

What is VITAL to all visitors including this poster.
If you book a hotel be certain that the booking is valid on the day that you travel.
(Don't let it be cancelled because it has not been paid.)
Make very sure that the person you are staying with can be contacted by phone and knows your story!

thanks also for the suggestion, i actually honestly didnt know their addresses as at the time i was making the application and though i had their phone numbers, it didnt seem reasonable to just call them out of the blues to ask for the address since we were not on talking terms then. and moreover i couldnt even honestly have been 100% sure they were in the UK at that point in time.

i just hope this explanation would sound reasonable to the ECO...lol

another thing, is there any chance they might find out about my relationship with them, i mean before i actually officially correct the misinformation myself.

and also, will a cash in hand of 1500pounds or debit card be sufficient as evidence of maintenance for the 1 month, i would have paid for my accomodation, and return ticket at the time i would be entering the uk, so the 1500gbp would just be for maintenance...food and movement.

Stay true to your application when at the POE if you are not comfortable telling them of your change in plans. However, when you get in, feel free change your plans; just make sure you do not overstay.

When i got my 1st US visa the fam and i decided to visit Florida instead of Philadelphia that was stated in our application. I was also apprehensive but everyone said it does not matter, that plans change. Truly, it didn't matter; i was no queried about my indicated destination. Even when i visit the UK, i don't necessarily state where i intend to stay; i have multiple choices so i use the one that comes to me first.

The point i'm trying to make is you would not be turned back because you changed the duration of the time you would be spending in the UK provided you can afford it.

The answer to your question is an emphatic NO. However, you and i know that is not a question that would be posed at the entry point. Questions like what you do for a living, where you'll be staying, if you have family in the UK, when you intend leaving the UK are the likely questions to be asked. It is if suspicion is raised and further scrutiny is required that they could ask that question.

When he gets to the POE all he needs to say is his friend who is a citizen has said he should come stay with him as opposed to staying in a hotel. If asked who, he mentions his brother and the address would have been written on the lnding card.

Feel free to enlighten me, others in the forum re encouraged to as well.... That's why we are all on this forum.....to learn.

A lot of people have given you a very honest advice, you made a mistake by denying that you have someone in the UK, you should have said yes and point out that you will not be staying with them.
You will not be doing your next visa application any good if you stayed more than 6 days as you indicated. Stick to your original plan

Justwise, you give a lot of valid advise but i disagree with the statement in bold. It would not harm his application if he stayed longer than he indicated he'd stay. It would harm his next application if he overstayed (i.e stayed longer than 6 months). Yes, best to stick to his original story but there's nothing wrong in changing your length of stay, especially if you already have a ticket showing you intend to return.

What she needs is a letter authorising her leave and stating that she will return to her job after the visit.

What the original poster meant by "intro letter" is a letter from your employee introducing you as a staff of the organisation and stating how long you've worked for them and how much you earn yearly. It's what i used form mine. I have never for once given a letter authorizing me to go on leave.

Can they deny someone because of huge account balance ? It's not just the amount in your account but its source as well. If your statement shows that you have been saving towards that amount then that's a good thing. If you dumped a lump sum in your account then that may count against you.

Is 850k will be ok for the trip? Do your research, you're the one travelling. What is the cost of airfare? check the internet. Hotel rates? Check the internet. Even taxi and bus fare can be gotten online. Spending money? You should know what you want to do there... Theme park? shopping? all that can be gotten from the internet. Add it all up then add an additional 50k for contingency. Add yet another 50k as living allowance for when you return.

Also I have a micro finance bank that am having like 460k wit seperatly ... Can i get a letter frm this micro finance bank and add it wit my docs to ensure them that there is something for me to return to and live on ? Sure you can do that.

Hi, I follow this thread religiously and comment once in a blue moon. Once in a while questions like this pop up and they make me wonder..... If you were travelling to Ghana, who much do you think you would need? If you can't answer that question then you are not prepared to go anywhere. Find out price of airfare, find out hotel rate, how much are you willing to spend on shopping? find out cost of transportation within the UK. All these can be gotten from the internet with a little patience. Add everything up plus spare then include additional spare change to spend when you get back. that is an accurate way of estimating what should be in your account when you apply. It's just common sense.

What's the difference? There's no difference. Tourist visas are general visas. Its the same visa you would be issued if you're going to visit your friend. If you had family there then that's a different case; you would apply for a Family Visit Visa. Hope that clarifies things for you.

My family and I have just been given a 6 months tourist visa. Valid from 10th of March to 10th of September. We stated in our application that we will be staying for one week from April 1 to 8. Now we want to go on 26th and come back 13th that's about 2 weeks and 5 days. I hope we wouldn't be getting into any trouble at the POE.

That should not e a problem. Plans change for various reasons. They may ask you to show your return ticket though as proof you intend leaving when you say you will. Even at that you can still change your return date with the airline. Provided you do not overstay, your change of your duration of stay is ok.

Ok... in that case you can make 3 applications with a note specifically attached to that of grandmum explaining what her role will be....if she is given a visa then each time she will be traveling with your son all you need to do is give her letter of consent for POE...that will correspond with the info they have in the system already about her visa.

There have been times in the past that my son would be on long term break and myself and his mom would be unable to take time off work at that time. And because of the clause on his visa he can't fly with anyone else. However, if his grandmoms passport number is included she would be able to take him. So my question is is it possible to have 3 passport numbers on his visa? Thanks

Hello members of the house. Kudos to you all for all the accurate info shared on this forum. My question is very simple: on a dependant's uk visa, can you have more than 2 passport numbers on it? Eg dad mom and grandmom? Such that the grandmom can travel with the child when the parents can't make it. I have even gone as far as asking an immigration officer at Heathrow, he claimed he hasn't seen one but he doesn't see why it's impossible. So guys in the house, your vast knowledge is required to assist me. Thank you.
