It’s high risk, no doubt, but it’s not the same as aimless spending.

And finally, context matters: league position at a snapshot in time doesn’t always reflect underlying trajectory. A well-drilled, settled side can outperform a transitioning one over a stretch of games. That doesn’t automatically mean they’re better-run—it might just mean they’re further along in their cycle.

So yes, Bournemouth and Brighton deserve applause. But comparing them directly to Chelsea & Arsenal without accounting for scale, pressure, and phase of development risks oversimplifying what are actually very different football realities.
