dometome:For example, a child born on embassy grounds isn't automatically a citizen, because an embassy is considedered part of the foreign country. |
That's an unusually nice and large event, but that type of education is pretty common. When I was in high school we could take technical electives that would amount to about 10-20% of course load. My school had auto shop, wood shop and computer lab. Next town over had welding and I was jealous our school didn't. |
AlphaStyles:I can only speak to the US, but from what little I've seen of naija this is likely true. There is some corruption and self-dealing at any level, but in general in the US government is seen as an underpaid career and is for people who enjoy helping people, or feel it's a civic duty, or have some specific area of government they want to change. Business/finance or certain private sector jobs are the far more common path for people who want to live lavishly. Most people in government who are wealthy are already that way when elected/appointed/hired. |

You seem to have a lot of problems with women. They're half the human race you know. One gave birth to you. Trump also has a lot of hatred for women. Probably because they will only sleep with him for money or if he rapes them. His wife literally lives in a different state than him because he paid a IndecentStar $150k to stay quiet about sleeping with her. But I'm guessing you don't think it is important that a leader be a moral person and not someone guilty of fraud and rape and sleeping with porn stars while married. You probably think how he treats women is "strong". Your misinformation game needs work. |
KelvinHerbert:lol. Every time Trump loses he makes up lies for fools to buy. That's the whole story of the "stolen" election. "Electronic earing". Rigged courts, rigged elections, rigged debates... Is it more likely that the whole world is a conspiracy against him, or that he's just a loser and a liar, which is what the voting record says? I'm always confused when people on Nairaland support Trump. He's a massive racist, he doesn't want anyone from Nigeria coming into America, and he blames America's problems on those immigrants that are already here. (Falsely). He wants to jack up American petroleum output through the roof, which would do nothing good for Nigeria. |
it's a work in progress https://theservitor.com People I've met on nairaland have written there. In fact, an article about AI in Nigeria that I'm co-writing with a nairalander is coming out sometime soon, if I ever finish my part of it 😬 Cheers |
I think a better voice model might help. You tried OpenAI tts-1? |
Communication scholars and professionals have admonished state governments and the federal government to develop policies on Artificial Intelligence (AI), fact-checking and verification.https://tribuneonlineng.com/deploy-ai-for-good-governance-experts-task-fg-states/ I think it's education where AI will make a real difference. A child with access to a decent AI is a child with a tireless and patient tutor. Not just children. AI teaches me stuff all the time. |
Hey thanks all. A website with more info has been setup, you can browse the table of contents from the book there and learn more. https://gptmastery.riz.ng |

Belt and Road initiative is just a way for them to get a foot in the door. Then the corruption and blackmail set in. |
lastkingsman:Life is better in legal states! |
Fixation on "purity" is weird and creepy to me. It's a way for men to control and shame women for behavior no one questions in a man. |
Hello. I'm D.D., creator of the GPT Mastery prompting guide at gptmastery.net I've been using ChatGPT and all the OpenAI models since early beta! My guide shows you how to get GPT to work for you at affiliate marketing jobs. Work smart, not hard. I don't do business directly in Nigeria, but I've been working with Nigerians and you are great people. You have some spirit in common with America, and a lot of you over here ARE American now. Is beautiful to me. I'm licensing GPT Mastery to some good people, and they are making GPT Mastery available in Nigeria. It's a 90+ page PDF eBook crammed with how to get the best out of GPT. I sell it to Americans for $12.99. I read nairaland. I know times are real bad, scary bad. Nobody got money to eat, no money for business. I'm licensing it for sale to you good people only ₦7500. Same book, same great value. ₦7500 For more information visit: https://gptmastery.riz.ng Message WhatsApp 07071781921. Raymond is the man, he's got you. love a feel good story |
I can tell you from the other side (remote boss), the person who said electricity becomes your enemy is right. And banking services. Sending money to Nigeria is a real time sink. You find a processor that works, then after a couple payments suddenly it doesn't, back to square one. And remote workers that can't get online when needed are hard to work with. You have to be pretty talented to offset the downsides caused by Nigeria's infrastructure. If you guys have power 24/7 you would be way ahead of competition. |
Nazgul:Some people will believe anything. How you think a "biological man" survives openly in a Muslim country and no one notices and none of the women who fight him notices, then suddenly one woman can't take a punch and he is magically revealed? These are Olympic boxers. They under constant scrutiny and cameras. Italian woman had a bad fight and wants an excuse that gets easy sympathy. |
DigitB:They're not even secret. You might be thinking of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, or Palantir Technologies, or several others. Also worth noting that the kind of AI that collects tracking information is unrelated to the current generative AI like ChatGPT. Tracking is conventional machine learning, and these profiles have been building since at least 2010. Real digital privacy and security take more work and inconvenience than most people would want to deal with. |
Quelme:Europe maybe, with the GDPR. Meta tramples all over Americans' privacy too. They collect data on us it would be illegal for the government to collect themselves, then sell it to our government. |
Mhistaedie01:I don't have any open work just now. As for finding gigs. Hmm. That's tough. There are a few tiers to remote employment. The best paying public sites I can think of, you would have to be very skilled. That would be sites like remotejobs.io Then there are the big freelance sites like Fiverr, they require less background and skills, but are very competitive. Still, it might be worth a look. Search "AI Content Editor" on Fiverr to get an idea what other people like you are offering. Maybe Reddit? Can get banned quick there for spam but if you post in the right subreddits you might be ok. The best way is probably to get on some forum where ordinary Americans (or French, or whatever) are hanging out, post for a little while, then politely ask if anyone needs a VA or has remote work. That's how I found nairaland, only in reverse. I wanted to talk to regular people not employment agencies and places like that. So I Googled, "Nigeria forums, message boards" "India forums" etc. And talked to people all over directly. It's harder to do on social media because the algorithms limit who sees your posts based on location. But on less Big Tech-ish places like nairaland you don't have that barrier keeping you from reaching overseas with your messages. Well, I hope something in all that is helpful to someone. |
Does anyone know if it's ok to post contests on Nairaland? I was thinking of possibly running a couple writing contests with small money prizes. Partly to drum up content for my websites, partly to meet interesting writers, and also just for some fun and hopefully good reading. |
Rubyjade:I'm full up on workers just now, but you can be sure I'll look here when I hire again. I can tell you right now AI content editing gigs are hot. Lots of people using ChatGPT for content but then finding it needs a human touch after all. So they hire people to edit the output, make it more natural, add links and pics, etc. WordPress. You can never go wrong learning WordPress. Everyone who wants to have a website uses it. There will always be remote gigs for people good with it. If you want to know individual ways to make money, I recommend the BHW marketing forums (google it). But be careful there, it is a ... complicated... place. Beware of scams. |
Hiya nairaland. I'm an American and I run a tiny digital products business. I've been lurking here the last few months looking for VAs (Shout out to G and K, who I met here 👋). So many people here have done remote work, I thought it'd be interesting to say hello and compare notes about making a living online US vs. Nigeria. I also see some really crazy things about America here sometimes 😆 Maybe I can help a bit with that... How's building an online career treating you? Things are tough right now ... Google is toying with its search listings, jerking websites around like yo-yos. And ask me anything! |
I'm looking for an experienced journalist who could use some side work. These would be one-off feature length articles on a 1-2 month publication cycle. Specifics to be discussed. This is not a "content writer" position. This will require research beyond Google - making calls, talking to people, digging. Some local travel may be required. Ideal candidate will have a background in traditional journalism, i.e. have published articles I can find under your byline. Preference for Lagos or Calabar-based individuals. Impeccable written English. This is an equal opportunity position. I care about your writing and initiative, not what you look or sound like. Women, elderly, disabled, odd circumstances... I'm open. And of course hard-working men and younger folk, too. Must have a bank account to receive pay. Extra consideration: -Worked at major tech company / industry experience -Interest in Artificial intelligence and futurism -Have travelled abroad in Europe, India, or North/South America -Science fiction fan -American pop culture knowledge (watch a lot of foreign TV/movies?) -Photography skills If some or all of the above describes you, please send a cover letter introducing yourself and a CV and select bibliography (+ portfolio if a photojournalist) to: hiring [at] makeafacepublishing.com I appreciate your interest. Thanks for reading. |
BucketMan:Hi sorry, I didn't see this. If the system messaged me I didn't get it. I afraid what I had in mind is no longer available, but I'd still like to speak with you. Could you please email me at hiring [at] makeafacepublishing.com ? I might have some piece work if you're interested. In a journalistic vein. |
I think maybe we could speak. I've sent a message request through your profile. |
Gudguy01:Gudguy, I may have tech-related work for you. I think we might help each other. Please e-mail me at hiring [at] makeafacepublishing.com and we will discuss your situation and potential employment. |
