Good morning fellow nairalanders. Recently on front page we have been celebrating children of dignatories (governors, celebrities, business moguls etc) that obtain one type of foreign degree or the other. In as much as I do not have anything against foreign education, my concerns are as follows:- 1) If the children of the above mentioned do not school in Nigeria, how will they be interested in the improvement of the nation's educational sector? 2)In the next 10years what chance will local degree holders have in the workplace considering the fact that presently some employers of labour are using foreign degree as a criteria? 3) The rate at which we celebrate the foreign degree holders even on nairaland is not helping matters 4)Imagine the rate at which we demand for foreign currency to pay the huge school fees abroad and its impact on naira. 5) Finally standard of education in some of the countries we run to all in the name of foreign education is appalling. (I do not want to mention name of some of this countries) We are all stakeholders in the nations's educational sector, one way or the other it affects us, let us join hands to make the sector better either by holding our leaders accountable or by not celebrating this foreign degree holders Thank you |

Dear HR practitioners in the House, you are doing a great job, please keep it up. I would like to build a career in HR. I'm an associate member of CIPM and currently pursuing an MBA (HR option). I currently work in Finance/Administration. Thank you in advance |
I read through the thread from the beginning to this page and it is an interesting reading. My story: I visited my cousin in her school and we went to fellowship together. After fellowship she introduced me to this good and gentle looking student pastor, who later visited us at d hostel and made his intention known. Pastor or student pastor was a no no for me. I was in a long distance r/ship then. Fast forward to 4yrs later we were both working, my cousin told me that he has been disturbing her for my number, I've ended the long distance r/ship but have so many suitors to d point of been confused. I jokingly told her to give him d number and he will be an addition to d list. But he came, clear my doubts, took me with all my faults and make a wife and mother out of me. |
