This is timeless truth!, and this is where a lot of people miss it! sad
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is The 94th Best Place To Live In The World! by magragold(op): 8:42pm On Nov 13, 2009
Its naive to make an armchair conclusion that The Legacy Institute placed us where they wanted in the ranks!, talks like this smells like that of one of the beneficiary of the systemic rape and looting that this country have been subjected to in the more than 40years of her nationhood.

An informed and enlightened mind will go and study the reports before taking an intelligent stand on the Legacy Prosperity Rankings 2009!
PoliticsNigeria Is The 94th Best Place To Live In The World! by magragold(op): 11:39am On Nov 13, 2009
The globally respected Legatum Institute released his Annual Prosperity Index a few days ago and its findings on Nigeria falls in line with the position of some Public commentators that Nigeria is a Failed State! Or how do you explain the fact that we are 94th in the list and our peers in the listing includes failed States like Afghanistan, Somalia, Democratic Republic Of Congo(DRC), Sudan & Zimbabwe.

The Legatum Prosperity Index for 2009 named (in the order of rating) Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Netherlands, USA, New Zealand, Ireland and the UK the best countries to live in. South Africa (the best country to live in Africa) is rated 51, Botswana (56th), Namibia (63rd), Ghana(79th), and my beloved country Nigeria was rated 98th! With this rating, Nigeria found companionship with either failing states or “banana republics” like Tanzania (97th), Pakistan (99th), and Zimbabwe (104th) position. Why a country like Finland spends an annual average of $35,000 per student in the primary and secondary levels, Nigeria spends an average of $3000 per student. Teacher to student ratio in1:16 in Finland whereas it is 1:40 in Nigeria. Our best ranking (16th) was in Social Capital whereas we ranked 99th in Economic Fundamentals and in Governance finding companions in Somalia, Sudan, Afghanistan &Zimbabwe!

As someone rightly said “it borders on insanity to keep doing the same thing and expect a different outcome”. While the political leadership in this country has not learnt to do things better, our leaders expect things to get better for the common man!

Let me share with you some indices from a country whose history was so much like ours but is now at least 75years ahead of us. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) just released its budget for 2010. UAE is committing 44% of her budget to Education, Healthcare and Social Security. More specifically, it is committing 22% of next year’s budget to Education, yes you heard me right-EDUCATION!!!

How did we get here and is there any hope of coming out of the dungeon for this sleeping elephant called Nigeria? Your guess is as good as mine!

The man who has no good pedigree can go and rest now.

The judiciary should live up to its billings like the Appeal Court did today.

We are tired of Ghana Must Go Judges!

What I mean is the ROI (on the basis of my trading results)is as good as someone robbing the banks! grin

BusinessRe: Thanks To Sanusi: Foreign Banks Reject Letters Of Credit From Nigeria by magragold(m): 11:34am On Sep 14, 2009
The cause and effects of mallam economics- when you have career bankers as central bank Governors, this is what you get.

Nigeria is blessed with a continuum of retrogressive polical leadership that fails to know what to do!, its only in backward climes like what we have here that career bankers like the mallam are made CBN Governors instead of high-end economists grin

@ Finiky

Did you say he should try www.babypips.com?

Free online resources does not/will never make anyone a thorough bred?

The other side of the coin is- be sure you don't get your FX education from a Cybercafe Owner/attendant, they form the majority of "FX Marketers" that are professional trainers and not traders! cool
RomanceRe: Settle Your Nairaland Romantic Disputes Here by magragold(m): 1:17pm On Aug 20, 2009
This has nothing to do with my heart(romance), it has everything to do with my hands(my threads and posts in Nairaland)!

Anyone here knows FOD & Naijacutee?

Tell them I am really upset with them, they probably do not know that one of the courses I did as a medical student is Morbid Anatomy(causes of death and autopsies).

The 2 Nairalanders are the moderators of the Business/Money section of this forum, and I am to say the least very angry at the arbitrariness with which they moderate these 2 sections they moderate. There are contributions I make to an existing thread that does not involve solicitation, no advert, absolutely nothing offensive and the next thing that will show on my screen is "this topic is off limits to you" and then "sorry you have lost your posting privileges"

I have started 2 harmless threads that did not foul any rule that ended up being trashed by these fellows and when you send mails demanding for explanations, they don't display even the courtesy of repling your mails!

Tell them I am upset with them!

@Dandollars!

It looks like you are being gagged here.

As for my case, some people decide on my comments that they want published!, there are even straight forward posts I make in threads and the next thing I will see is that its off limits to me! grin
PoliticsRe: The Difference Between Bola Tinubu And Tunde Fashola by magragold(m): 8:03pm On Aug 15, 2009
Tinubu wasted 8yrs of the life of Lagos, playing politics!

No wonder the rumour mill has it that he is trying to prop up the Speaker of the House of Assembly for 2011, since JUST 2 YEARS OF EKO NI BA JE has rubbished his 8yrs of ineptitude, corruption and loss of ideas! cool
AdvertsRe: Forex Trading by magragold(m): 7:31pm On Aug 15, 2009
I started a post on forex education here and the moderators(or is it spirits) deleted it saying its off limit to me!

Even the courtesy to reply mails sent seeking for explanation on why the moderators were practicing the principle of selectivity were not responded to! angry

PoliticsRe: Hillary Clinton At War With Yar'adua And His Clowns by magragold(m): 2:26am On Aug 14, 2009
Nigeria is an Awkward contraption!

Once presided over by a band of "illiterate" Presidents!

Now ruled by a Morbid, educated President who can be asleep at 12noon! grin
