Politics › Re: Atiku Abubakar At PDP Women Town Hall Meeting In Abuja (Photos) by Magrech: 1:44pm On Dec 13, 2018 |
ochejoseph: Did you know that women only constitute about 6% of Buhari's cabinet?
This, and many other issues were brought to the fore as female engineers, architects, medical doctors, academics, traders, artisans, students, market women, and a host of other women gathered for the town hall meeting for women in Abuja, hosted by the PDP Presidential Campaign team.
Atiku whose entrance to the venue elicited wide celebrations could not hold back his emotions as he danced joyfully to the music with the women which sent the crowd into a frenzy.
During the interactive event which was the first by the campaign organization, Atiku said he decided interact with the women first because of the key roles women play in families and nation building, citing the role his mother and grandmother played in his upbringing.
During the two hour long event, Atiku interacted and responded to questions on restructuring, women empowerment, jobs for young women, care for the aged , geriatrics, ending boko haram, food prices and food security, agriculture, poverty and a host of others, making references to the thousands of women he has brought out of poverty using his Microfinance Bank as a platform.
Also speaking at the event, Senator Olujimi the Senate Minority leader noted that Women got 35% under Jonathan and the PDP, but under APC, 6 percent was their best. She went further to state that most women legislators were PDP and that APC does not consider women fit as principal officers for both chambers wheras women, including herself were considered fit for leadership under the PDP in both the Senate and House of Representatives.
This assertion was corroborated by Senator Zainab Kure who heaped praises on Atiku for his women empowerment initiatives from 1999 till date, citing examples of herself and many others as beneficiaries
The event was anchored by Dr Baraka Sani and Chinwe Nnorom. Watch out for the PDP women train coming to a location near you.
A vote for Atiku is a vote for lower food prices and improved living conditions.
A vote for Atiku is a vote against Poverty , Joblessness and Empty promises
With Atiku, women don't belong to the 'other room', they are the catalyst for development and progress.
May God Himself Continue to Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Politics › Re: APC Reacts To Atiku's Signature Of Peace Accord by Magrech: 7:10pm On Dec 12, 2018 |
aminulive: @POLITICSNGR
Below is a statement from the ruling All progressives Congress, APC made available to PoliticsNGR, signed by its publicity secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu;
"It is obvious that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alh. Atiku Abubakar tried to avoid signing the national peace accord ahead of the country’s 2019 General Elections.
To all discerning Nigerians, the PDP and Atiku’s dubious claim of a “communication lapse” as reason for their no-show at Tuesday’s formal signing ceremony is hogwash, as the peace committee duly and formally invited the PDP and Atiku like other candidates and political parties contesting the 2019 Elections.
Atiku’s eventual decision to sign the peace deal is clearly a face-saving move following widespread condemnation that greeted his initial refusal to agree to the peace deal. We, however, must not lose sight of the dangerous and ominous signs the PDP and Atiku have inadvertently shown Nigerians in the leadup to the elections.
Again, this brings to the fore, PDP's open declaration in August this year that the Party will deploy all “means, schemes, shenanigans in all ramification and magnitude” to manipulate the 2019 election.
The APC reiterates that security and other relevant agencies must be on high alert to check this dangerous threat posed by the PDP’s planned actions for the general elections. In 2019 and beyond, the votes of the electorate must count and the will of the electorate must prevail. We must stand against and resist plans by retrogressive elements who are now nested in the PDP and their agents to disrupt elections through violence and other undemocratic practices.
For signing the 2019 election national peace accord, the Party affirms the commitment of the President Muhammadu Buhari led APC government to a free and fair electoral process. The APC government has an abiding pledge towards a participatory, peaceful, credible and transparent elections.

Politics › Re: Ghali N'abba Dumps APC For PDP by Magrech: 9:29pm On Dec 06, 2018 |
PoliticsNigeria: @POLITICSNGR
Former Speaker of the House of Reps, Ghali N'abba has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC for the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, PoliticsNGR has learned.
Below is a transcript of his resignation letter to the APC;
"This is to notify you of my resolve to resign from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective today 5th December 2018,” he wrote.
“My decision to resign from the party follows the cavalier manner in which both the Federal Government, States controlled by the APC and the APC itself are being run, as a result of which anybody who has eyes to see only sees doom and not prosperity for our dear country.”
He pointed out that the APC administration is characterised by “lack of consultation, crass incompetence, lack of vision, arrogance, and dangerous fixation.”
“It is a measure of the incompetence of the APC government that after all is said and done, it has lost a Senate President and a Speaker of the House Of Representatives and many others for reasons that border on meanness, lack of simple management skills and capacities and a great measure of arrogance.”
“It is also a measure of the incompetence of the party that there is almost no state in the Federation where there is no conflict .”
“While it is generally accepted that no human organisation can be rancour-free, it is disheartening that these conflicts in the party are inflicted by its leaders, some of whom can be said to be poorer in human qualities than the poorest of men.”
He also alleged that some governors had hijacked the party, doing whatever they liked. He wrote;
“In their endeavour to perpetuate themselves on the system, they not only snatched away the political rights of the people but also blocked all avenues with which and within which they would be held to account.”
“Because under these conditions no person can be politically mobile except he becomes a sycophant, it becomes necessary for me to speak up.”
“This I did many times, unfortunately only to be met with complicit silence.”
He also attacked President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a "president under whose watch all these negative traits are recurring."
“He instead prefers to give the country a lethargic and insular leadership informed by grudges, hatred and a general lack of understanding of what democracy and compassion are all about.
“All these masqueraded as war on corruption.”
Although the former speaker did not state the party he is defecting to, he is expected to join the main opposition party, PDP.
