A voter says he hacked off his finger after casting his ballot for the wrong political party in India’s general election. Pawan Kumar said he was confused by the various symbols on the electronic voting machine and mistakenly pushed the button for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) when he turned up to vote in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

Kumar says in a video circulating on social media that he had intended to cast his ballot for the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

whereas the governing BJP is Hindu nationalist and fiscally conservative, Kumar’s preferred BSP emphasize social justice and egalitarianism. After they cast their ballots, Indian voters’ index fingers are marked with indelible ink to prevent electoral fraud such as double voting.

Election ink is common in countries where identification documents are not always standardized. Kumar is seen in the video cradling a heavily bandaged hand while a large cleaver lies on the floor nearby.

A man has been arrested in Bayelsa state for shooting his girlfriend in the face for allegedly cheating on him. The sad incident occurred in Oluasiri town in Nembe area of the state.

Facebook user Igbobi reported that the man decided to take the life of the young lady because he suspected that she was cheating on him.

It was reported that the man pointed a gun at his girlfriend while interrogating her over the alleged affair with a man she was sighted with – when the gun went off on her, destroyed her face and killed her in the process.

Another Nigerian has just been approved by Drake but this time it’s a fashion designer identified as Mowalola Ogunlesi, whose brand has been styled on Solange for Dazed Magazine; in Skepta’s hazy “Pure Water” video; and in Nike’s Naija World Cup kit launch, where Mowalola herself was called to style the kit launch.

Drake, having over 50million followers on Instagram recently shared a photo of himself with J. Cole on his page, wearing a custom Mowalola jacket, with the brand’s emblem clearly revealed.

Asides naming the corner of Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue after Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom, the city of Los Angeles has also memorialized Nipsey with his own memorial basketball court in the Crenshaw district, some few distance away from his clothing store (the Marathon Clothing).

The public basketball court which was officially unveiled on Sunday, bares the image of Nipsey across 78 feet of pavement. Artist Gustavo Zermeno was credited for the painting with backing by Venice Basketball League’s CEO, Nick Ansom.

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his sadness over the collapse of a building housing a school in Itafaaji area of Lagos, which left fatalities, particularly of small children.

In a statement made available to Kulichang blog by Femi Adesina on Wednesday evening, Buhari sympathizes with the parents and relations of the deceased, wishing them God’s comfort. He also wishes the injured speedy and complete recovery.

Gunmen have attacked the divisional police command at Afuze, headquarters of the Owan-East local government area of Edo, killing the divisional police officer (DPO) and three other officers on duty.

The hoodlums also attacked the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the town, and destroyed electoral materials and burning down a police van in the compound.

The officers killed in the attack were: Tosimani Ojo, the DPO of the station; Justina Aghomon, a pregnant woman, Sado Isaac and Glory David.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published list of senators who were elected ahead of the presentation of the Certificates of Return on Thursday.

Kulichang Blog understands that Rochas Okorocha was excluded as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released list of newly elected senators on its website on Monday.

In the slot for the three Imo Senatorial districts, only Senator-elect Onyewuchi Ezenwa Francis (Imo East), who won on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, was listed.

For Imo West Senatorial district, whose seat Governor Okorocha contested, it was blank except for an INEC remark, which read, “Declaration made under duress.”

APC Candidate, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq Declared Winner, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara as winner of the governorship elections.

Abdulrazaq was declared the winner of the elections after polling a total of 331,546, more than double the 114,754 votes secured by his main rival, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Abdulrazaq Atunwa.

The APC candidate won in all the 16 local government areas in the state.

An 80-year-old woman has enrolled for Primary One at Jesus is King Nursery and Primary School in Bugandalo Village, Ibulanku Sub-county in Bugweri District, with an aim of becoming a teacher.

Ms Maria Obonyo, a farmer, on Monday said after enduring a lot of ‘suffering and ridicule’, she decided to go to school to learn how to speak and write in English.

“I decided to enrol at the school because I lost all my relatives and there was nobody to take care of me. I am determined to study until I graduate from Makerere University as a teacher,” she told Daily Monitor.
