[s][/s] bizme: You have omitted the details of those degrees. When you speak of the university system it is highly complex system and a job applicant having a masters degree doesn't automatically fit in anywhere. Take my field for example, it is impossible for you to have a bachelor degree in Pharmacy and not already be employed. With almost no more than 14,000 pharmacists who are Nigerians, a good number of us have left the country. And without a bachelor of pharmacy degree you cannot run a pharmacy programme in any of the universities. The very fact that University jobs pay pharmacists ridiculous salaries is exactly why my colleagues would not in a million years accept to lecture in a university. For instance, even after you have added an MSc and a PhD degree to your qualifications as Faculty of Pharmacy lecturer, most of the graduates produced by you with no more than a bachelors degree will take first salaries that are infinitely higher than yours, with all your additional degrees. If you see a Pharmacist who is lecturing it is purely the love for the job and a good sense of sacrifice that compels him to turn back on the juicer packages outside and pick up lecturing job. You have to understand the system well to know that lecturers, e.g., those working at the Faculty of Pharmacy are simply irreplaceable. And this applies for all the fields. You can not bring an MBA masters degree to teach pharmacy, medical, law, engineering students and so on. You cannot use a PhD in Education to train students of geology, chemistry and so on ...
Don't always believe the propaganda by the government. The same government that said through Chris Ngige that medical personnel could leave the country for all he cared, that there were many doctors looking for employment, is now the same government that has been quickly increasing the allowances of health personnel to prevent any kind of unrest at this time. That you have MBBS wielding doctors outside doesn't mean you can replace highly trained surgeons and consultants with the job-seekers. It is the same way with you saying lecturers are replaceable.
I for one like to see what it looks like replacing highly trained and experienced lecturers up to professorial cadres with job seekers with or without postgraduate degrees. Won't that be a very memorable sight?
Once this COVID19 holiday is over, Nigerians should get ready for the total shutdown of our universities. For the first time in a long while, Buhari has succeeded in uniting all three University unions. ASUU, NASU, and SSANU.
In the end, the politicians with the private higher institutions are the ones who will benefit from all this, and Nigerians the ones to lose. All the university workers' entitlements will eventually be paid no matter what. But at the end, founders of private universities will keep smiling to the bank. This is how politicians play us and some naive Nigerians actually think this is a fight against corruption. did I hear highly trained.....please none of the professors in the courses I've taken are highly trained.....they can impact a single knowledge..... But you see those small small master degrees boys and girls......they are the ones that made me still wanna finish school....if I'm a president for a day.....the first thing I will do is to sack all the professors..... That have always been my wish since I entered school |

emror4u: A greater %age of everyone is just greedy and selfish in this country, I've taken my time to study that IPPIS brouhaha, to me, there is nothing different there with people working in corporate organisations, basically you have to pay your tax, pension, nhf and most importantly, earn from one source in the organisation (you can't have dual pay slips from the same company). This is just what they are fighting for. Earn multiple salaries, short-change the government on tax etc. They don't just want to consider the plights of the students, just their greedy selfish evil agenda alone
BS: in my final year, I had a lecturer that was supposed to take a course, I just saw that man once, only once in a whole year. He had several offices in several universities, earnings salaries there. He enjoyed, while I (the student suffered) same her......one even asked us to write appointment letter so he can bring out time from his tight schedule to teach us......final year now and I've not met most of my lecturers...tuehhh |

NaijaRoyalty: scamdemic it is .
it's so so easy to brainwash Nigerians I swear .
if you see how some of them come on nairaland and other media platform to argue , you would think they've got there senses all intact.
most Nigerians are educated mumus and the old polithiefcians are taking advantage of that . some argue as if they are researching on the virus....microbiologist and related fields specialists that are supposed to be talking are mute....because they are yet to understand the virus fully....why a political science graduate is here arguing about a virus he knows nothing about |

zedman1: Even at this point you're still asking such a question bro? What is really wrong with Nigerians? Some guys were happy when the virus came in, then I felt pity cos I knew they didn't know what they were wishing for. Now see the question you're asking at this stage, you still do not know anything about the virus? you talk as if you work in the lab with them.....you what do you know about the virus? |

u11ae1013: Honestly I don't know what to believe again, is it pawpaw and goats testing positive or states deliberately inflating figures.
A doctor told me that if you have high fever, or typhoid, there is a high probability that your result will come out positive that is my own fear too.....corona virus is not air borne....why the figures are increasing is what I don't understand..... maybe there's something really wrong with the test kits |

ejibaba: Yet some foolish people are saying why will FG ease the lockdown here. my brother don't mind them.....most of them are jobless and they don't care if the ones with job will lose the job......wearing facemask and having hand sanitizer while keeping your distance is the best approach to this pandemic.... not total lockdown |

What would become the fate of Nigeria is there is outbreak of covid in Nigeria as in the case of America ? God forbid but if America is going through over 900,000 confirmed cases and over 50,000 then what would become of Nigeria ?
We don't seem to understand the havoc this covid is capable of in this our vulnerable health sec to
May God help us its like you are a govt worker and they are paying you abi.. you receive your salary every month despite the pandemic..... think of the others ....even during war, people don't starve....relief materials were distributed ..even with the lockdown in US they still have so many cases....so how do you think lockdown will help us instead of advising ncdc to increase number of tested people.....you are telling them to extend lockdown..... you dey try |

Health › COVID-19: FG Reacts To Report Of Planned National Lockdown by makanma(op): 6:40am On Apr 23, 2020*. Modified: 6:57am On Apr 23, 2020 |
The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Dr. Sani Aliyu, has denied proposing a national lockdown to tackle COVID-19 in the country. President Muhammadu Buhari had announced a lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and FCT for initial two weeks which was also extended by another two weeks. But Aliyu on Wednesday in Abuja, at the 17th joint national briefing of the PTF on COVID-19, said such statement on a national lockdown did not emanate from him. “My attention has been drawn to a fake task force media statement, which was said to be signed by me, talking about a proposed complete lockdown of the country. “Not only did the statement patently failed, it was badly written. “It is unfortunate that a small number of persons continued to engage mischief making at such a serious time when we are talking about coronavirus infection,” he said. Aliyu insisted that the task force had not released any official statement on a complete lockdown. He said he would rather refer to the SGF’s speech of Tuesday, on submitting formal findings to Mr. President, and which is yet to happen. He said: “I request that the public and the media take caution in circulating or publishing unverified news. To be very clear, all formal statements on th emergency response are made through this daily press briefing or through official press statements. “l will also like to applaud all those patients of COVID-19 who are now sharing the experiences on their own volition. This step is extremely harmful, encountering the wrong signal around COVID-19 infection. “When we stigmatise persons, when we discriminate against them, when we scold people, what happens is that they go into hiding at a time when they need help and support and it makes our job more difficult. “We can only flatten the curve if people come out willingly to report symptoms based on case specification; like fever, dry cough and shortness of breath. We need to encourage more people to come out with symptoms so that we can test them and isolate them appropriately.” Meanwhile, there are fears that the Federal Government will take some tougher decisions in the coming days following the continuous rise in number of confirmed cases of the virus. As at Tuesday 21 April, 2020, the official cases in the country stand at 782. The Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Chikwe Ihekweazu hinted on Monday that President Buhari will make some very difficult decisions next week about the lockdown occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic. He said this in Katsina when he visited Governor Aminu Masari to see the state’s preparedness for COVID 19. The audio of the discussion by the duo was obtained by our correspondent. Ihekweazu disclosed that the president was scheduled to join the governors’ forum teleconference meeting to discuss some of the decisions. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/covid-19-fg-reacts-to-report-of-planned-national-lockdown.html/amp |
