Politics / First Mayor Of Enugu Was A Fulani Cattle Dealer? by MakeMusicMoney: 9:40am On Jan 04, 2014
ccording to Richard Sklar, an American political scientist who authored the the book “Nigerian Political Parties”, Mallam Umaru Altine who hailed from the old Sokoto Province of the defunct region of Northern Nigeria and who served as President of the Enugu Branch of the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons(NCNC) was elected the first Mayor of Enugu in 1956.

In my humble opinion, this again goes to show the kind of very elevated and futuristic politics played by Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, the first Premier of Eastern Nigeria and the most sincere proponent of Nigerian national unity of all time. It is a testimony to his impeccable credentials as the ultimate Nigerian that during his time in office, a Mid-Westerner and incumbent Oba Erediauwa of Benin (then Prince Solomon Akenzua) and a Northerner, the late Abdulaziz Atta, the Gowon-era Secretary to the Government of the Federation who died in 1972, both served as Permanent Secretaries of the Eastern Nigeria Civil Service.

Politics / Political Moral Decadence In Igboland. by MakeMusicMoney: 8:57pm On Jan 02, 2014
It is obvious that the number one supporters of this government are the igbo's .
Some of us seem to have lost our conscience as a people. Some people will support evil in the name of defending Goodluck Jonathan!

Poverty profile of Nigeria is above 70% in the midst of opulence, reckless spending and high tolerance to corruption/ oil theft. It is indeed ridiculous for a nation with such paradoxical statistics on wealth and poverty to engage in open display of waste.

Most Igbo hate truth and will praise evil and denounce good! The level of moral decadence in Igboland has assumed frightening dimensions. Little wonder Igboland is so unproductive and everyone is running away. The bible says "righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach". And that "when a people turn from their sins and call unto God, he will heal their land". Igboland is cursed today with rampant kidnapping, crime, underdevelopment, capital flight, lack of jobs, rampaging erosion etc because our people see black and call it white! There is high level of wickedness(both spiritual and physical) in Igboland and until we start saying the truth, more and more people will continue to flee to Hausa and Yoruba lands thereby putting ourselves at the mercy of others.

There are those of us who would not join the bandwagon in support evil. Moments and men of history have proved time and again that a few could be right while the rest are wrong. The story of Galileo Galilei, Wright Brothers, Thomas Edison etc is instructive in this regard. Even the Bible recognises the challenge posed by the bandwagon effect on moral conscience and went on to declare thus:

"Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil..." (Exodus 23:2)
Romance / How To Get A Guy To Like You by MakeMusicMoney: 7:46pm On Jan 02, 2014
Do you want a guy to be completely crazy about you, the way you are about him? While you can't force someone to feel a certain way, you can definitely put your best foot forward and give his feelings a chance to develop. Here are some helpful hints on how to charm a guy, while still being true to yourself.

Part One: Focusing on You

1
Be confident. You've got to show this person how awesome you are, but first you need to know how awesome you are. Build up your self confidence if it's sorely lacking. Now, this doesn't mean you have to be loud, boisterous, arrogant, chatty, or forward. It just means getting to a place where you feel comfortable in your own skin.

You can be secure, sweet and humble all at the same time. But be prepared to come out of your shell. Guys like confident, interesting girls who lead their own lives.
The only guys who like insecure girls are the ones who are insecure themselves and want to dominate another human being. And who wants to be with a guy who wants a girl to feel bad about herself or who wants to tell you how to be all the time? That's not healthy, and you deserve much better.
2
Look your best. Without being fake, make an effort to look your best around the guy you like. Guys are visual creatures so looking your best will simply spin the odds in your favor. But most importantly, when you look your best you'll feel your best - giving you the confidence you need to let your awesome personality shine through.
A little make-up can go a long way. You don't need to color-by-number your face, but clear mascara opens up your eyes, lip-balm enhances your smile, and tweezers could really help nightmare eyebrows.
Dress in clothes you feel comfortable in. Don't squeeze yourself into a body-con skirt if that's not your usual style. A well-fitting pair of jeans and a top that brings out the color of your eyes is a safe but striking combo.
Smile a lot - research has found that people become more attractive to others when they smile, so flash those pearly whites as often as possible to look prettier, as well as friendlier and more approachable.
3
Make your presence known. A guy can't fancy you if he doesn't know you exist. If you haven't caught his eye yet, then get him to notice you. Make sure you show a little interest and drop small hints that you like him.

Most guys won't ask you out because they're afraid of getting shot down. You've got to walk before you run, right? Say "Hi". Say "Good-bye". Give a little wave. When he reciprocates, you'll know that you have his attention.
Introduce yourself somehow and make conversation. It's nearly impossible for someone to like you if he doesn't get to know you, unless he "likes" you for all the wrong reasons.
4
Have a good sense of humor. Having a good sense of humor makes everything better. This doesn't mean you should be a giggling fool, laughing at everything that crosses your path, but you should try not to take yourself too seriously and always be ready with a laugh, especially when your crush is around.

If you're too serious or straight-faced all the time, he may find you intimidating and unapproachable, which is the last thing you want.
Express your sense of humor in your own way. Some people are witty and sarcastic, others can tell hilarious stories, and many people just do quirky things and poke fun at themselves.
No matter what tickles your sense of humor, it's much easier to like someone who you can have a good laugh with once in a while. If you don't find something to laugh about together, then maybe you'll discover that you don't like him after all!
5
Make it clear you're available. A guy is not going to hit on you if he thinks you're taken, so it's your job to make it clear that you are single and ready to mingle.

If you have a Facebook account and he's not already in your friends list, invite him; just make sure your status is set as single! Wearing a "single bracelet" will also do the trick: they're stylish, very noticeable, and say that you're ready for a relationship.
If you don't want to wear the bracelet and you are already Facebook friends, make it obvious in other subtle ways, such as hanging out with your girlfriends in a place where you know he'll be, dropping subtle hints about not knowing who to go with to an event, etc.
Letting your friends in on the situation is probably a good idea - they can help strategize to get the two of you together, and also diffuse any awkward situations. They also know where you stand on the relationship front and won't start falling for him themselves.
Part Two: Getting to Know One Another

1
Don't be afraid to be his friend. Being a guy's friend first gives you two great benefits: he gets to know you and you get to know him, without the awkwardness of being in a dedicated relationship. Treat him like you would all your other friends - be casual and comfortable around him.

Guys will usually be more open with guys than girls, but that doesn't mean that you can't get close - that's usually where the magic happens.
Just be careful though - if it gets too platonic, you might lose the romantic connection and sometimes it can be really hard to get back that spark once you are placed firmly in the friend-zone.
If this happens, things can become too complicated and you might be tempted to give up. A little bit of flirtation throughout the relationship will keep things going nicely.
2
Talk to him. This may seem like a no-brainer, but actually talking to the guy you like (rather than pining after him from afar) is of utmost importance when it comes to getting him to like you.
Ask him stimulating, interesting questions; find out about his life, his family, his friends; tell him funny stories. Anything that opens up a dialogue between the two of you.
If you can get the guy talking about something he's really passionate about - whether it's a favorite sports team, band, author - then you're on to a winner. When he's talking to you about something he loves, he'll start to associate the positive emotions he feels with you!
3
Compliment him. Though this may come as surprise, guys love compliments just as much as girls do, so don't be afraid to say something nice to him from time to time. Of course, showering him with fake compliments is not a good idea - you'll just come off as insincere.
Compliment something about his appearance, like his cute dimples or cool new haircut. Just don't over do it - guys can be shy about that sort of thing. A simple "I love the color of your eyes" is all you need to say.
However, compliments don't just need to be focused on appearance. If he's talking about something that he loves, tell him that you admire how passionate he is. You can also compliment his sporting performance or tell him what a great job he did on a class project.
4
Do things together. Finding activities that you can enjoy together can really create a bond between the two of you and allow him to appreciate how fun and interesting you are. Once he sees that you're someone he can share his passions and interests with, he might start to see you as potential relationship material.

If he thinks of himself as the next premier league player, turn up at any football practices you're invited to and cheer him on. If he loves rock-climbing, ask him if he can show you how, and make a good-faith effort to see why he's so into it. Have an open mind.
You can also invite him along to experience some of your interests. For instance, you could bring him along to a dance class or invite him to try out some unusual ethnic cuisine. Discovering that you're a person who can introduce him to new and exciting experiences can be a major attraction for a guy.
5
Find some common interests. Find out what the two of you have in common and exploit it! Shared interests are the foundation of many a successful relationship, so this step should not be overlooked.
It doesn't matter what the interest is, it could be as simple as the ability to recite lines from Family Guy episodes or as intense as a fascination with astrophysics - as long as it leads him to see you as a kindred spirit.
For example, If you both love a certain kind of music, ask him if he's ever listened to a particular artist and offer to play a CD for him. Or if a mutual favorite band comes to town, invite him to go with you.
6
Get to know his friends. Guys love their friends, so its essential that any potential girlfriend gets along with them. For this reason, it is extremely worth your time to get to know his friends and let them see you as a "cool girl". This will let the guy see how easily you could slip into his life - no complications, no drama.
If you can get his friends on your team, that's a major bonus. They will root for you and bring you up around your crush, even when you're not there. This will ensure that you're always on his mind.
Be careful though. You don't want to flirt with his friends. This will send conflicting signals and may make you seem like a tease.
Part Three: Making the Next Move

1
Be flirty. Once the two of you have got to know one another and are frequently hanging out, you can start to kick things up a gear. Show the guy that you're interested in being more than just friends by flirting with him - it might be just the sign he's been waiting for to ask you out.
Smile.. Make sure to smile whenever you see the guy - this lets him know that you're happy to see him. Even if he's in a group of people, reserve the biggest smile for him.
Make eye contact. Making eye contact is an essential flirting technique. One great tip is to look at him from across the room, then once he catches you looking hold his gaze for a moment before smiling and looking away. He'll be hooked.
Make physical contact. Another great flirting technique is to touch the guy in a more-than-friends kinda way. Lightly brush his arm when you're talking, give him a hug when you greet him, or gently mess his hair when you're joking around. This will give him the "I'm interested" vibe pretty quickly.
2
Text him. If you have his number (if you don't, you should ask for it) you can text him things throughout the day to let him know you're thinking of him. You can send funny or flirty texts and if he replies with the same, you'll know you're on the right track.
For example, if he has a sports game or exam coming up, you could text to wish him good luck. He'll hopefully find this sweet and appreciate the fact that you remembered.
However, you should also be sure not to overdo it...remember the rule: if you send two consecutive texts without getting a reply, you should stop texting. It needs to be reciprocal.
3
Invite him to hang out. If the two of you have only been hanging out in group situations or in more formal settings (like school or work) til now, it might be time to invite him somewhere on his own. It doesn't need to be a three course dinner in a fancy restaurant, it could be something as simple as coffee or the mall.
If he says yes, that's a pretty sure indication that he's interested in you, or at least that he really enjoys your company. Take it as a positive sign and enjoy it. Just try not to let things get awkward - you're just two friends having a good time, right?
If he says no, don't freak out too much. He may genuinely have another commitment, or he may just feel too shy around you to hang out one-on-one . Give it some more time, then try again. If he says no a second time, you might have to face the fact that he's not interested.
4
Tell him you're interested. At the end of the day, there's only so much waiting around and hoping you can do. Sometimes your best bet is to tell the guy straight out that you're interested and ask him if he feels the same. Whatever his response is, at least things will be out in the open and you can either move forward with the relationship or move on.
Don't believe the hype about guys having to ask girls out. In reality, guys love strong, confident women who know what they want. In fact, just the fact that you had the courage to ask might be enough to impress the guy and make him say yes.
Never get someone else to ask a guy out for you. It is immature and will increase the chances of the guy saying no. Even if you're too shy to ask him to his face, a text message or handwritten note will be much more effective than the "send a friend" method.
5
Have patience. These things take time. You can't force someone to like you, and trying to hurry things up can ruin the courtship altogether. Give him some space and don't be obsessive. Let things progress at a natural pace, or fade out of natural causes.

Eventually he'll tell you one way or another whether or not he's interested in reciprocating your affection. And if he's not, don't hang around him like a lost puppy. Sometimes you might be incompatible in ways that you don't see, and sometimes a guy just isn't ready for a long term relationship.
If this is the case, don't waste any time in moving on! Don't take rejection too personally. It happens to everyone at one time or another.
There are plenty more fish in the sea and as long as you have confidence in yourself, you know that you're a good catch and the right guy is out there waiting for you.
6
Take his feelings into account. Finally, but importantly, keep in mind that you cannot control what other people think and do. He may be the object of your interest, but that does not create any obligation that you be an intimate part of his world.
Turn the situation around. If there was some random guy who took an interest in you, is there anything that he could do to make you like him? Probably not.
The reality is that you will either like him that way, or you won't. You will find him attractive or not. You will find him funny or not. All he can do is try to be the best person he can be, and hope that you agree.
The reverse is also true. Be the best person you can be, and let it develop––or not––from there.

Tips
Never forget to smile! It's an age old, safe way to extend an invitation to a guy to socialize. Plus it's totally free and increases your face's real estate value instantly! (Also, remember to brush your teeth often enough so they stay white!)

Politics / Pastor, Kids, Others, Held For Printing Naira Notes by MakeMusicMoney: 8:50am On Jan 02, 2014
Pastor, kids, others, held for printing naira notes

A self-styled pastor was yesterday paraded along with 15 others for allegedly printing and circulating fake naira notes.
Kogi State Director of State Security Service (SSS) Mike Fubara, who paraded the suspects, said six of them are Pastor Godson Akubuiro’s children.
Akubuiro, 49, is the General Overseer of The Mountain of Breakthrough Deliverance Ministry, also known as Land of Solution, located at Plot 7, Koya Estate, Igbo Olomu, Agric, Ikorodu, Lagos from where he and other suspects were arrested. The “pastor” hails from Imo State.
Fubara said the SSS began investigation four months ago to trace the source of the “‘worrisome fake naira currency in circulation in Kogi state to uncover those behind the act’’.
‘’This operation took the service close to four months before a breakthrough resulting in the arrest of the 16-man syndicate led by Rev. Godson O. Akubuiro,” he said
Items recovered from the suspects include equipment and materials used in printing fake currencies, a large quantity of printed fake notes, cut to size blank currency notes and N1.3 million fake naira notes.
There were also photocopier machines and different colours of oil paints.
Akubuiro, admitted the crime before reporters, saying he was “an ordained man of God” until the devil overwhelmed him.
He admitted that he had been involved in the criminal activity since November 2012 in his house, along with his family members.
Akubuiro said he was not using the money for himself but in support of the less-privileged and the needy in his congregation.
He pleaded for leniency, saying men of God were often tempted like King David in the Bible, who though a man after God’s heart, fell many times yet was pardoned by God.
Fubara urged the public to be wary of the fake naira notes in circulation and report suspects to security agents.NATION.

Celebrating Nigeria's yummy yams
By Fidelis Mbah
BBC News, southern Nigeria
22 September 2010 Last updated at 11:38

Nigerian yam festivals marking the end of the farming season are akin to new year festivities
For Nigerians currently feasting on and celebrating the yam harvest with carnival-like festivities, the starchy tuber is more than a food staple.

Traditional fertility and marriage ceremonies are not carried out in the south-east of Nigeria unless a big unwieldy yam - which can weigh up to 70kg (150lb) - is presented.

This is why the Igbo people refer to yam as "the king of crops" and August and September are a time for traditional dances, drumming, masquerades and dressing up in village squares.

"From my great grandfathers, yam has always been celebrated because it is very important to us," said Mary Eze at a new yam festival in the village of Ukpo Dunukofia in Anambra State.

"We can pound yam, we can boil the yam and when we eat we have a lot of energy," she added, boasting of its versatility.

Yams are a primary agricultural commodity across much of West and Central Africa where tubers are planted between February and April and harvested 180 to 270 days later.

Annual yam festivals are also observed at this time in other African countries as the tubers of the early maturing varieties are harvested and delivered to markets.

In Ivory Coast, for example, funerals and burials are delayed in some communities until the local yam festival has been observed to underscore the importance attached to the crop.

Pest pressure

But there are fears for such traditions as the cultivation of the crop, consumed by 60 million people on a daily basis in Africa alone, is under threat.

"Instead of growing yams, Igbos have embraced trading," says Professor Felix Nweke, a development economist.

"They are now only celebrating yams and not growing it."

Yam cultivation began 11,000 years ago and the tubers now grow on vines in Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean, South Pacific and Asia.

But farmers in Africa's "yam belt" - comprising of Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Ivory Coast, Central Africa, Cameroon and Togo - produce more than 94% of the world's yams.

And Nigeria alone accounts for 71% of the world's total production.

Though driving through the country's southern and middle belt regions, one would never know there was a problem.

Fields look green and fertile and seem to promise a good yam harvest.

Yet experts say yam production is decreasing in some traditional producing areas because of declining soil fertility and increasing pest pressure.

"Yam has come under serious threat from pests and is in competition with other less nutritious crops like cassava," says Robert Asiedu, research director at International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in the Nigerian city of Ibadan.

Yam bank

Another challenge facing yam production is the high cost of labour and there appears not to be enough capital available to farmers for increasing their production.

Small-scale farmers like Thomas Anioji find it hard to get loans
Most small-scale farmers in Nigeria are not able to access loans because of a lack of security or track record.

This is the fate of farmers at Isu-Awa community in Awgu, Enugu State, who are no longer able meet their family needs because of declining production.

"It's so difficult to get support to plant yams," says farmer Thomas Anioji.

"I have tried several times to get government loans. They promise to come today, come tomorrow and they never give me any loan."

But hope is at hand for the long-term conservation of Africa's yams thanks to an initiative by the Global Crop Diversity Trust.

Its scientists say the continent's yam varieties are in danger of being picked off by pests or diseases and common disasters like fire or flooding.

This month the trust started an ambitious project to add 3,000 yam samples to an international gene bank at IITA to guarantee the diversity of the crop.

"It's really akin to putting money in the bank," Cary Fowler, the trust's executive director, said in a statement.

"All crops routinely face threats from plant pests, disease, or shifting weather patterns, and a country's ability to breed new varieties to overcome these challenges is directly tied to what they have in the bank, not just in terms of financial resources but in terms of the diversity in their crop collections."

Using the collection, scientists hope to able to find disease-resistance traits with higher yields - key to improving farmers' fortunes.

I have a very strong feeling that it is the oil that is still keeping Nigeria together because many are harvesting and reaping where they did not sow and so they are agitating for one fraudulent Nigeria which is injustice to humanity and nations that make up this fraudulent unity!

Celebrities / Tyler Perry Lays Hands On Bishop Jakes And Gives Jakes 1 Million Dollars by MakeMusicMoney: 2:30pm On Sep 03, 2013
One day after MegaFest, movie producer Tyler Perry took the stage at the Potter’s House in Dallas. He talked about how God spoke to him to give $1 million to T.D. Jakes‘ new youth ministry, he spoke in tongues, and then prayed for and laid hands on T.D. Jakes.

We’ll just cut to the chase. And you can see it for yourself in the video below: media mogul Tyler Perry donated $1 million dollars to Jakes’ effort to build a youth center and then, in dramatic fashion, laid hands on Bishop Jakes!
“I’ve just been touched to give $1 million,” Tyler Perry said in the Sunday morning service on the video. Perry then tells how he didn’t even know Jakes was building a youth center.
“God I don’t know what you’re doing but I heard your voice,” Perry said. “When you hear the voice of God, you move.”
Leading up to the million dollar donation and the laying of hands, Perry talked about being in attendance at one of MegaFest’s biggest events, “Manpower,” and receiving a blessing. He also recalled how Pastor Paula White asked him to write a check for $113.00 … representing Psalm 113. Well, Perry wrote his check for $113,000, describing how much he loves giving.
“When you have favor with…” Perry pointed to the ceiling, referencing the Lord.
“They don’t understand it in Hollywood, but I’m going to tell you something about the blood of Jesus,” he continued to the enthusiastic audience. “My mother didn’t have much to give me. But she had Jesus.”
Perry attempted to hand the microphone back, but was urged to continue speaking and morphed in to preacher mode.
“Don’t worry about your enemy. Don’t worry about your hater. He will bless you. He will lift you,” Perry proclaimed. “Sometimes you spend too much time worrying about your haters.”
And then it happened, although it looked like it may have been pre-planned, Perry began prophesying good things over Bishop Jakes’ life, and laid his hand on Jakes’ forehead as he leaned back seemingly under the power of the Holy Spirit.
“I pray his anointing will stay all over you,” said Perry.

Kenneth Bae, US Christian Jailed in North Korea, Pleads for Freedom in New Video

American Christian missionary Kenneth Bae, currently serving 15 years in North Korean for allegedly plotting to overthrow the government, has appeared in a new video speaking of health difficulties and calling on the U.S. to help secure his freedom.
Bae, otherwise known as Pae Jun Ho, was prosecuted in April for hostile acts against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) and began serving his sentence at a forced labor camp in May. He was initially arrested on Nov. 3, 2012, while leading a tour in North Korea's Rason City. It was revealed that in addition to visiting orphans during his visits to the oppressive communist country through his tour company, Bae apparently took part in evangelism activities. He shared during a 2009 sermon at a U.S. church that he hoped through prayer and worship to bring down North Korea's walls, in a project he called "Operation Jericho." The charges were detailed online by the state-led Korean Central News Agency.

3. Express Yourself (1989), Madonna – $5 million

Madonna+Express+yourself

The song was written by Madonna and Stephen Bray and was meant to be a tribute to the defunct funk and soul band called Sly and the Family Stone. It sang of female empowerment and the need for a woman to express herself. David Fincher directed the video that took off from the design of the 1927 Fritz Lang movie entitled “Metropolis.” It featured Madonna in a gender-bending role as a glamorous, albeit masochist, lady with beefed-up men acting as her workers. One of them was then chosen to be her date at the end of the day.

4. Black or White (1991), Michael Jackson featuring L.T.B. – $4 million

102915

Michael Jackson wrote this rock dance song about racial harmony in collaboration with Bill Bottrell. It was his fastest song to reach number one, accomplishing the feat in just three weeks. The video was directed by John Landis and featured Macaulay Culkin of “Home Alone,” Tess Harper of “Crimes of the Heart” and George Wendt of “Cheers.” Jackson is shown moving and dancing from one scene to the next with various cultures and landmarks in the background. The latter part showed people of different ethnicities singing along as they morph from one face to another.

5. Estranged (1993), Guns N’ Roses – $4 million

GNRVideos05

The song is part of the band’s “Use Your Illusion II.” It was about couples getting estranged after the breakup of a relationship. Originally written after the annulment of Axl Rose’s marriage to Erin Everly, the video was shot after the breakup of the singer and supermodel Stephanie Seymour. It showed the difficulties encountered after the end of a relationship that resulted in the lead character’s attempted suicide in the video. He was later rescued by a group of dolphins. The video was the third part of the trilogy directed by Del James, coming after “Don’t Cry” and “November Rain.”

6. Victory (1998), Puff Daddy featuring The Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes – $2.7 million

Puff-Daddy-featuring-The-Notorious-B.I.G.-Busta-Rhymes-–-Victory

The song featured gangster-type lyrics that were popular at that time and sampled the theme song from the film “Rocky.” Marcus Nispel directed the video that featured the late The Notorious B.I.G. in two rap verses and Busta Rhymes in the chorus part. Dennis Hopper and Danny DeVito appeared in the video set in the year 3002.
