Nigeria doesn't have a comparative advantage in textile industry, we don't and it would require years and 100s of billion of dollars to make us competitive... What does this mean

- This means that any fabric we produce from our textile industry would be above international average price this means that our garment industry is already at a disadvantaged

- at best the textile industry can add at most 5 billion dollars to our economy because na only us go buy those expensive fabrics

But

- the garment industry at best can add 150 billion dollars

My point is this kill the textile industry by allowing cheap fabric import at no import duty classify it as raw materials

This would give our garment industry an opportunity to actually compete

Garment industry is something we already have an advantage on just cost of fabric is the issue

We are closer to Europe and America than the other competitions so this gives us an edge

The devalued naira gives us an edge too because that would reduce costs of production

Bangladesh makes 120 billion dollars from this industry we can make 200 billion dollars but we need to sacrifice the textile industry
