May be I should open a topic on it sha but I don't ever intend on breaking my rules that I don't want to create thread on NL. Sounds stupid but still a principle I intend to uphold.

Birthdays comes once in a year and marriage is mostly once in a lifetime. They are rare moments and I think deserve special recognition so it is expected they should be celebrated. But we have countless Sunday's and many months and sometimes I don't understand why we give it some special recognition.

Aside that, the concern I raised is, what's the purpose of all the happy this and that especially with Sunday's or new month. These almost daily salutations were not there about say 10years ago and we still had happy Sunday's etc etc. And does telling people happy Sunday, Monday etc have any positive effect in how their day should be or the outcome of it.

I have no problem with it, I am also guilty too. But I was just trying to weigh in on what is the actual meaning of it.

All these happy new month, happy Sunday, happy Monday and the other happys sef. Does it mean if someone is having a bad day and we tell them happy whatever they automatically become happy? Should one become happy (may be they are sad due to their life problems or as bad that they haven't eaten and don't even have food to eat) just because someone told them happy Monday, Sunday etc. Or is it an act of since some people are saying it let me join the bandwagon? Just thinking aloud sha.

the pastor comes to church with a tab, not a physical bible. Also there is a small flat screen TV in front of d pastor that shows whatever is being projected on d big screen so even d pastor reads from d passage beamed by d studio. Bro churches are now tech driven. No need carrying huge bibles around again.

I agree with the other points but that 10 isn't true though. Op you need to change your church or visit other churches once in a while. The church I attend, I just take my Bible along to fulfill all righteousness. This is because every bible passage to be read is beamed on the screen and the fonts are larger and easier to read than the one in my bible. Also before I open my Bible to the passage called, it is already on the screen so why stress myself. I only read my bible at home. If you attend my church you won't be surprised to see people come into d church without bibles.
Besides taking a Bible to church doesn't signify that you have a good relationship with God. Spirituality is not a function of how much you carry the bible.

Usually independent woman have stronger characters so I can understand where you are coming from but the advantages in an independent women are enormous.
She is an independent thinker,intelligent, can compete well with the male gender
In conversations,she brings something to the table worth considering,not a mere rubber stamping of the man's ideas
If I were a man I would want an independent woman too
I think it's less headache for the man because he knows madam pulls her weight well and will also have it covered when he can't

There has been a lot of independent lady talks recently everywhere, and the current global feminism movement has added its own voice to the already saturated discourse.

In as much I believe that women should have more visibility and power in the current dispensation due to the tendency of men to abuse a loyal and submissive woman, I still feel that most ladies, owing from bad stories they've read about sexists rather chose to misunderstand the word INDEPENDENT WOMAN especially as it pertains to family life.

An independent woman means that she has broken off from societal expectations and limitations on women, that preaches that they should always look up to men for provision, protection, etc, but it does not mean that she must see herself equal to the man in her life. This is why we are having shorter marriages and increasing divorce rates worldwide, especially among the first world countries whose women claim that they have been liberated from societal limitations.

We need to seriously ask our fathers and the generations past about what made their marriages last.

As for what the bible says about women and her role to her husband, I dont even want to go there, because I'm sure there are peope who do not share my faith that are also participating in this discourse.

Independence is not an empowerment to rub shoulders with the man in your life. God placed men as the head in the house, and they assume those roles by default in their relationships. The gentleman can sense when the lady starts playing the man of the house, and it makes the house have this uneasy atmosphere even if you are a visitor for the first time

Please never call it insecurity. It is there in men by default. I have stayed out hundreds of times on friday nights, gisting with the big boys in my hood, and one common thing I hear them say is that they will always choose teachability, peacefulness, and humility above everyother thing a woman brings to the table. I guess they want to have a marriage that will last.
