thank you ODBae: The consulate's exchange rate of 340naira to 1dollar should suffice. As that is the exchange rate used to calculate the Visa fee. Not the CBN rate. I should think so. Correct me if I am wrong. |

congratulations dear it sure wentwell QUEENBIZ: HNM to you all and I really appreciate each and everyone response towards my visa issue I posted earlier. I was able to arrange an impromptu trip as advised but I was stopped at Lagos airport from boarding that I need to contact the embassy. I called abuja embassy to notify them and was told to send an email. I sent a mail and they responded that I should schedule an appointment to visit the embassy so that the issue can be looked into into. So I visited as advised and they requested all d medical bills I paid when I had my baby in 2015. I presented all with detailed explanation & the guy stamped cancelled on my visa page that I no longer have a valid visa to travel. I tried to know the actual reason for cancellation and he said my DH applied and told them I paid $3k for the hospital bill and that the hospital charges me $20k, I disputed that and showed him the agreed itemized bill I signed with the hospital,my corresponding bill payment receipt, zero balance statement, letter of non indebtedness and obstetrics package price list the hospital sent to me via mail. He asked me to reapply. I reapply for a new visa in Lagos and it was approved without requesting to see any documents. I got a call from Lagos consulate 2 days after my interview to scan and send all the payment receipts to them and I responded immediately and I got a mail notification few hours later that my documents have been collected at the consulate. Interview was feb 22, approved and I picked it up Feb 27, flew delta on 28th and Poe was Atlanta where just 3 questions was as asked: Why are you here? How much do you have on you? What do you do for a living? After responding to all that, was sent in to go and declare my cash and was stamped in for 6 months with no further question. I guess misunderstanding in the bill was the major issue in my case. All in all, truthfulness and doing the right thing when one is opportuned matter most. I'm glad I didn't abuse the privilege given to me. Join me and thank God for a successful end story. Reporting live from El Paso. |

wow thanks dear very simple and clear lomwe: I have been silently following this tread and wish to add some clarifications having lived and worked in America long enough. Please take every discount a hospital gives you for "self pay" or the one a doctor gives you for his service. A discount from a doctor is simply a shortchange on his labour to get more clients. Nothing concerns government inside. We all know by now that hospital and doctors fees are distinct and separate. We also know that Doctors don't deliver in their clinics only in Hospitals in which they are consultants.
However, i think the misunderstanding is going to some community clinics like Access Health, Hope Clinic, Ben Taub etc and getting a hospitaal dicount of the basis of "low income earner". This is where the problem lies for two major reason
1) When you declare a low household income to fit into a the poor American dicounted healthcare, you are invariably saying you are working and making income (those hospitals don't bother to check your immigration stauts) This voilates your B1/B2 visa. 2) It also means such individual has made a recourse to public funds. Remember these low income clinics will at the end of the year during tax file your name as one of those they provided healthcare to and ask government to make up for half of the money you did not pay. Government will then check you out and find out that it was a foreigner who has made a recourse to public fund. These process may a take up to a year or two but surely it will come out. So please avoid it except you don't mind a subsequent ban to US.
Thank you. |

well said @chibertha well said chibertha: My dear arrange yourself well and go ahead. Don't fear because of the negatives you hear. Let me tell you what I heard before I left 1) my doctor said they won't fly you at 37 weeks 2) A Pastor in church said his wife was denied when going the second time after having their first baby Etc etc I just told them thanks and went on doing my research I didn't even know of this thread then What I did was read every part of the US embassy website to arm myself Also I did my research on airlines to get the one that can take me at 37weeks l even printed the page and took along. I got to the states POE was What are you coming to do I said to put to birth I was told the normal you are not entitled to any government facilities pay all your bills and bring your receipts next time you come to this country.
It was when I put to birth and from this thread latter I understood why my pastors wife was denied entry. She took Medicaid for the kid and collected food weekly until she returned. No be she find trouble?
All I am saying is your case will always be different if you listen to people outside this thread you will be afraid to go for it. Good luck. |
