Pls don't just join the corrupt people paying any amount to agent to get visa.
You can surely donut urself.
I am a living witness to this. Got my permit myself, also my wife and even accompany for our kids.
The kids got denied more than once due to some reasons but we could still reappy with the right documents abd help from people here...typop, samto14, and all others. We got all advise from here and without paying any kobo to anybody. We all got out permits. Just be sincere and get the right documents.

Truth is, some people already have it set in their minds that you cannot get visa without agents. A lot of those guys have stuff to hide (not all of them). For instance, I know this guy who didn't have any form of invitation to SA and only gave his passport to an agent with 120k. Guess what, he got his visa in 2 days.

However, if I know I have the right documents, why would I want to pay an agent 60k? For what? When the embassy has stated I can gather my documents and come apply myself.

Let's be clear, corruption is high in Nigeria but you don't have to join the bandwagon. I got my visa without paying anyone. I have helped people outside of this thread without them paying any dime (at least 4 in December only). People have come back to this forum and said thank you because they got their visas based on advise from people on this thread. And finally, I DO NOT know anyone in SA embassy.

Pls don't just join the corrupt people paying any amount to agent to get visa.

@Sam, I didn't know you saw this before me. I had made a note to do this before I saw your reply.

ATTENTION Admin: This is spam. Check his posts.

@ Typop and Sam.....this may not be spam. I think he is just confused and may not know how to ask d right question.

I also have a friend's sister who is planning to come for nursing here too. The process is that she will apply and may be called for selection exams.... It is after d selection exams that u will be given admission if successful.
So I think the issue is that she can only come with visitors permit for the selection exam since no admission yet to apply for study permit.

So what I advised is to come with visitors permit for the selection exam and then go back to naija. If u are now notified of d success and given admission... Then u may use that to apply for study permit.
Good luck.

UPDATE on the repatriation thingy. Please, everybody on study visa should take note. It also applies to those whose visas are yet to expire. It is a Q & A page on the Home Affairs website. Thanks for the link Oladayo.

9. Are travellers with valid permits with expiry date beyond 28 February 2015 going to forfeit their deposits?

No, they will claim when their permits expiry or when they have changes status, or have been granted permanent residence status.

10. The DHA has, inadvertently ( or deliberately?) put legal immigrants in a catch 22 situation where they lose if they do, and lose if they do not collect their deposits. It seems strange that immigrant students should lose substantial fees due to an amendment made after they already obtained their permits - Is this not a retraction of their original permits?

No student will forfeit his or her repatriation deposit if his or her permit is still valid and they will only claim when their permits expire at the end of their studies.

So, no shakings my brothers and sisters. Let's complete our studies whenever we do, and go get our monies at home. I'll print the page out for record purposes though.

THANKS TYPOP FOR THIS TIMELY INFORMATION.

However, someone that just collected his repatriation fees in Nigeria told me that the ladies at embassy said they are not refunding any money after 28th February.....the deadline.

also i want to ask if it is possible to collect by proxy (with the proxy collector having the passport) this is because i have a friend with two sons and his wife here and would not want to lose that huge amount of money.

thanks

@Manager007, I have been following your posts and comments on here, I can see you have really helped a lot in getting visits/students visa. Now my question goes thus: I have lived in South Africa for over 2 and half years with visitors visa, Though i have applied for permits but was denied, the last permit i applied for was work permit but was denied and i appealed via VFS few months back. I left the Republic for Nigeria over two months ago to quickly get some things done. I tracked my appeal application which i had with VFS in South Africa and it showed it has been dispatched so i told a friend to help me check from an Immigration which is an Insider. He told me my application has been approved. Now, i am planning to get a visitors visa so as to be able to enter the Republic and claim the Permit as soon as possible. Please this post is not only for Manager 007, anyone could please respond. Thanks

Well I think the best thing is to send ur passport and letter of authority to that ur friend in SA to collect ur permit for u from Vfs and then send back to u in Nigeria then u can use that to travel back to SA if u are so sure that u have bn given the work permit.

U font actually need another visitor permit.

OK...thanks TYPOP and Samtol4.

hello guys. kudos for all the help and support on this thread.
one of our brothers needs urgent advice here ooo.

he was on postgraduate studies honours degree at one of the universities here and on completion he applied for masters. by October ending he contacted the sch for letter to for continuing so as to renew his permit that would expire DEC 31st. the international office gave him a letter for renewal for his master's degree and he applied for renewal.
the prob now is that 2 week ago the department he applied to now called that they would not be able to take him cos they have a lot of south Africans that applied for the same course and they have to take them first. however, he applied to two other schls before for masters and now the 2 other universities have given him admission but he has already used the letter from the first univ and applied for renewal before the latest development from the department.

please what is the best thing to do now?
urgently need ur advice here guys....TYPOP, Samtol4, manager007, chemachie, and others......

Manager007:

From your question about "after applying what is the best thing to do"? Well, you have gotta to know that visa processing takes between 4 - 12 weeks. This is usually the time frame for renewals for Study visas within the RSA.

The new SA Immigration Act is expressly clear on this, DO NOT DEPART SA UNLESS YOUR VISA HAS BEEN ISSUED,ELSE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RE-ENTER SA. The Law has stated everybody must await the status of their applications before making travel plans. Gone are those days when your Visa Application receipt allows you departure and re-entry.

If you submit next week, bear in mind your visa MAY NOT come out by Dec. So alternative plan would be for you to submit in Nigeria if you want.

OK thanks manager007.
so from this quote "b]O NOT DEPART SA UNLESS YOUR VISA HAS BEEN ISSUED,ELSE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RE-ENTER SA"... it means after after application na to wait be that na till permit is out.
Travel / Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by manikky: 1:03pm On Nov 16, 2014
Manager007:

TYPOP has rightfully advised you. The law states 60 days before visa expires.

HOWEVER, its's very very possible for you to submit as long as your visa don't expire.

Go to VFS in your area, speak to the guys at security, they will let you in. I advised because i have seen this happen lots of times.

Even if you eventually secure an appointment date and miss it, its not the end of the world, go the very next day and submit.

VFS in South Africa uses these methods to streamline entry and controls into their buildings and not to scare people away. Unlike the VFS in Nigeria.

All the best bro!
OK..thanks bro
but do u mean after application... they should return to home country cos like TYPOP said if he doesn't hear from home affairs before DEC when the permit expires. cos I don't think home affairs will be so fast as to issue within a month or so...
after applying what is the best thing to do
now.....application will be done this week.

TYPOP:

Listen, you are already VERY late for the 60 days ultimatum. Plan to go home to apply even if you get to apply now in case they are strict with the new laws. Let me take my time to explain here.

The new laws states that you must apply at least 60 days before the present one expires. You have less than 60 days now. However, nobody knows if they will be strict with that law.

If you apply and do not get a decision from them before Dec 31, please go home before your visa expires. If you wait till their reply comes, saying you have already applied, they have covered that part of the law and if they deny you visa, they will declare you an "undesirable" in the republic for 12 months (if you don't stay more than 1 month after your visa expires). If you stay more than 1 month, you will be undesirable for 5 years. So do yourself a big favour and leave the republic for home to reapply for your visa from there in case you don't get any reply on time. We can only pray you get replied on time though.

So what's the advice now? Get the earliest appointment you can at VFS now. Go to their office and try to lobby your way into applying even though your date is still far away. These guys are also humans and you may be favoured. Just explain your case well and hope for compassion. Also, don't give up until you are able to apply (as early as you can).

But you must have gotten your police report by now (I assume). Otherwise, that's another 3 weeks of waiting.

All the best.
thanks TYPOP for the info. but this issue of 60 days ultimatum for renewal is somehow......so many study permit expires by Dec but many just got admission to further or letter from sch and hence renewal of their permit delayed till now.
however, this home affairs is so slow with permit...I applied for study permit renewal in June 20 and got the permit on October 2nd. that is more than 3 months. does it mean if people submit according to the 60 days ultimatum ...it would be ready before the permit expires by DEC? I doubt it...and what will be their fate in the republic? cos I don't think if ur permit expires by DEC and u apply for renewal even in october....that the permit would be ready before DEC 31st.

so what do u think is the best thing to do. I have a lot of people in this situation now.
thanks
