Religion / Issues Facing The Next Pope by ManofGod3(m): 12:04pm On Feb 28, 2013
VATICAN CITY (AFP) – Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation on Thursday will leave his successor a formidable to-do list as the head of a Roman Catholic Church hit hard by sex abuse and money laundering scandals, internal bickering and growing secularism in Europe.

Here is a list of key issues on the agenda:

– SEX ABUSE: After sordid revelations of child abuse by priests erupted in Europe and the United States, Benedict apologised for the Church’s role in turning a blind eye and protecting abusers, but campaigners say not enough has been done to bring suspects before the law or to punish the senior prelates who covered up the abuse for decades.

– VATICAN FINANCES: Plagued by a dark history of murky financial dealings, the Vatican has promised to step up efforts against money laundering and wants to be on a White List of countries that comply with international rules. The head of the bank was unceremoniously sacked in May last year under a cloud of intrigue and his successor was only named this month.

– HOMOSEXUALITY AND GAY MARRIAGE: This is one of the Vatican’s most critical issues. While condemning violence against homosexuals, Benedict has refused to be shaken on the Church’s teachings on the traditional family of father, mother and child, and intervened directly in recent heated debates in France and Britain on same-sex marriage. In December, Benedict said mankind was at stake, insisting that same-sex unions called into question what it means to be “true men”.

– CURIA, SECRETS AND INTRIGUE: Absorbed by his studies, the academic Benedict has failed to put his stamp on the Curia, the Church’s secretive and powerful governing body. Dominated by Italian clerics, the Curia is key to a papacy because it can intervene in unfavoured papal decisions and uphold the status quo. Benedict was hit hard by the “Vatileaks scandal” last year, where memos leaked by his butler revealed infighting. The next pope will have to try to get a grip on the Curia.

– ORDINATION OF WOMEN AND PRIEST CELIBACY: Calls from self-proclaimed disobedient priests and campaigners to end priestly celibacy, and accept women into the clergy to fill positions left empty as priest numbers dwindle, were denounced by Benedict last year as self-serving. He insisted the Church does not have God’s authority to ordain women and said celibacy was central to the priesthood — but amid increasing calls for clergy to be allowed to marry and claims that celibacy may have contributed to sex abuse scandals, the future pope may have to re-think the issue.

– ABORTION AND EUTHANASIA: Benedict has insisted on the Vatican’s “duty” to defend “basic human values” by refusing to counter abortion or euthanasia, describing attempts to “select people and exclude others from humanity” as utterly immoral. In 2010 he appointed to a top Vatican job Canadian cardinal Marc Ouellet, who has said that abortion is a “moral crime” even in rape cases. But Church thinking on the issues is evolving and a new pope will have to clarify its stance.

JeSoul: As much as I agree with you the bottomline is this:

no one is forced to attend these 'churches'. If the couple doesn't like the rules of the church they attend then by all means, there are a thousand other churches available.

Fashion / 30 Things Every Man Should Have By 30 by ManofGod3(m): 12:58pm On Nov 08, 2012
Read and comment if you are up to 30:-
1. Respect for women as equals and not just as heads attached to boobs.
2. At least four good pairs of shoes: dressy, business casual, casual, exercise.
3. At least one friend who gives honest godly & fashion advice.
4. A toolbox that includes: a hammer, screwdriver, wrench, nails, work gloves.
5. Enough clean underwear (no holes!).
6. Independence from his mama.
7. The ability to ask for directions.
8. A great road map when there’s no one to ask.
9. An emergency kit in the trunk of his car or house.
10. A hobby that does not include a television set/cigarette.
11. A trusted barber or hair stylist.
12. A pair of jeans that makes him look good.
13. Jumper cables.
14. A driver’s license or recognised I.D.
15. Always enough handkerchiefs.
16. Sheets that don’t scratch.
17. A nightstand that doesn’t say “Handle with care” on the side.
18. A smile he uses generously.
19. At least one lamp that didn’t once belong in a dorm room.
20. Enough confidence to approach someone he finds attractive.
21. Enough sense not to use a cheesy pick-up line. (When in doubt, say “hello!”)
22. A great razor.
23. Preparing to settle down if not yet settled.
24. A place where everyone knows his name.
25. At least say no to one sex move he’s received lots of positive feedback on.
26. Have a good plan for the future.
27. Every guy should grow a beard before they're 30. Even if it doesn't work out, every guy should know what he's got as far as beard quality.
28. Every guy should own something that was his fathers. No father? Own something that will be your son's.
29. Every guy should have a good sound system.
30. Fallen in love. Falling in love indicates that you've learned how to be vulnerable and to accept the vulnerabilities of others. This bond is, well, life changing. I can't think of anything else that so alters the core of who we are at such a fundamental level.
Fashion / 9 Fashion Pieces Every Man Must Have In His Closest by ManofGod3(m): 12:40pm On Nov 08, 2012
Fashion doesn’t come cheap, especially for men. This is why it is important that men have capsule clothing in their closets. A Capsule in fashion is a set of clothes ranging from 12 pieces to fewer than seven for you to mix, match, and multiply. Each piece will coordinate well with the others to help produce 20 or more different looks with just those few choices to select from.

They are:
Business Suit: Every man needs a well-fitted suit in their closet, even if they work in a casual environment. Please invest in at least one good suit that compliments your figure well. I’ve seen men wearing suits too big or small on them and it is unappealing. A nice fitted quality suit will make a huge difference. Suits are great for job interviews, presentations, and weddings. It is essential to have at least one in your closet. Although, black will come in handy, dark gray is another option. If you opt for a beige suit, do note it is more “suitable” for the spring and summer season; whereas, black and gray can be worn throughout the year.

White dress shirt: has so much versatility to it, allowing one to wear it with jeans, khakis, or dress pants.

Leather Belt: You don’t want those pants sagging, now do you? Brown, deep burgundy, or black will do.

Dark Denim Jeans: are a must-have in a man’s wardrobe. You can go from casual (wear it with a tee) to classy (pair them with a silk or dress shirt) instantly. Light blue jeans aren’t recommended; dark denim looks more sophisticated. The fun part? They’re comfortable!

Loafers: Preferably in black, but if you like brown, it works.

White Tee shirt: You can wear it under a dress shirt or alone.

Leather Jacket: If you are against wearing animal skin, you can opt for pleather. However, a nice leather or the look of leather jacket in black or brown is recommended in a man’s wardrobe. You decide the style according to personal taste. If you like bomber, motorcycle/biker, or trench coats, ultimately, it is up to you.

V-Neck Sweater: V-necks look so amazing on men, the V gives it a nice sexy look, especially if you’ve been working hard on that chest boys!

Blazer: Every man must possess at least one blazer. It does not matter if it is a velvet, leather, plaid, burgundy, paisley print, brown or black jacket. We guarantee it is a nice touch to complete any look.
