No one is forcing you to stay, you are the one that refused to leave and loves the attention your story of not being allowed to leave generates for you.

Look at me, no really, look at me! Abeg go siddon.
I don't want my profile to remain on Nairaland.
I want to leave with my profile.

At least, you can give me a legitimate reason, why you must remove my rights to deactivate the account.

Accusing me of attention seeking is stale.
You guys are so pathetic and I cannot believe that this is coming from eduvated and civilised people.

Why on earth will a social media refuse my right to quit their platform?

To vilify me and keep mum on the unethical practices of Nairaland.management is surprising.

Perhaps, it is still the darkness holding Africans captive that is ruling over.Nairaland

It is disgusting.

I want out.
And I want to go with my profile.

I am pleading with Nairaland, please allow me to deactivate.

it's just pure business n nothing evil

The number of members are used for negotiating business deal even if 80% aren't active.

He knows what he's doing
No, this is not pure business.
It is uncivilised and crude way of doing a business.

If the owners of this site knows I cannot deactivate my account, then I deserve the right to be properly informed in clear terms.

In Nigeria, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is the agency mandated to regulate activities of online platforms, including interactive computer service platforms and internet intermediaries, as per the National Information Technology Development Act (2007).

Also copy consumer rights. Tag them on twitter and IG also. Good luck.
Someone advised i wait for 2 weeks.
I will try again after.

Thank you so much.

This is very valuable,

In a sane country you could just report it to the right authority. It will be investigated if found to be true he will be given a huge fine and forced to allow you deactivate your account.

Of course this is Nigeria, he knows how corrupt the system is and he is taking advantage of it.
Thank you so much for this input.
I know how corrupt the Nigerian State is. However it is better to try and fail, than not to try at all.

If I am to report Nairaland and the people behind for punitive measures over this, where is the right place to start?

What legal frame work is involved?
What is the best procedure.

Nairaland, allow we to DEACTIVATE my account in peace.

Iit is illegal to force me to remain in this forum.

So, I have only one question.

Don't I have the right to deactivate my account?
And lawyers in the house, what are the legal implications?

Also, what legal steps can I take to force Nairaland to allowed me opt out of the platform.

How can membership be by force?

every other social media site gives you the option to deactivate so, why is that of nairaland different ? Seun has a lot of explanations to do and if you don't know the implications, sorry for you
Exactly.
Holding unto someone's data by Nairaland against their will is worth looking into.

Abandon the moniker and stop logging it in

The question you are asking is irrelevant as you are not the first person to ask without any meaningful answer
I never knew others had the same issues before now.
However I think its unfair.
Participation in a forum should be voluntary,.
Holding unto someone's data by Nairaland against their will is worth looking into,
