Haha, Omo

Omo held sway for a pretty long time as the go to detergent that others were called omo, you know that kind of "Maggi" for all seasoning cubes and indomie for all noodles thing.

However, the demystification of omo started I think middle to late 90s with the coming of Ariel and klin.

Today, no one remembers omo, c'est la vie!

Let me play Devil's advocate;

It's possible it's his personal funds grin

Duck that shit!

From the surrounding circumstances, You and I can see it clearly that just like during the elections where we had vote for cash, this is a clear case of protest for cash, a.ka. paid actor, a.k.a. Paid protester.

It's sad that no matter how bad it gets, there are people willing to sell out for free, like its in their DNA to either be stupid, Judas, or both.

Good

I support freedom of speech, lawful assembly and protest just as provided for, enshrined and protected in the African Charter as well as the Nigerian constitution.

In the same vein, since what is good for the goose is good for the gander, those who have protests on the 1st of August must be greeted with same courtesy.

Yes, you may its cowardice.

And in the armed forces act, cowardice and abandonment of duty is an offence.

But it's better to be discharged from the army than to be discharged from life

Add justification to the list.

I would say add automation even though it goes with insanity.

Also, provocation may make the list.

Politics › Re: Samuel Nwanosike's Hotel Sealed In Rivers State For Violating Building Plans by mariovito(m): 7:40pm On Jul 25, 2024
seborrhic:
In Nigeria because of the structure of not just the society but the way the constitution is structured,I view any governor that doesn't know how to do with his Nigerian state political opponent,as a dullard, not fit to hold the office of a Nigerian governor.
This Nwanosike of a man for example, would have other investments or companies in Rivers State.I bet anyone 110% that those investments or companies have either not been paying taxes at all,or not paying appropriate ones. Not paying at all is criminal and companies liable to being legally sealed. Not paying appropriate taxes is liable to a fine;you fine him a hefty one, that he would find difficult to pay at a short notice,so if he doesn't you seal it off.Yes,the employees would be out of job,but the goverment is not doing anything illegal while dealing the person a political and economic blow.
He would also have acquired lands,if he is unlucky, goverment appropriated or gazetted land;you seize them without giving him any option. Those ones that are not government appropriated he bought,he is likely not to have paid land dues, taxes and fees to have proper legal authority or may not even have done survey through the appropriate goverment agency, again this comes with hefty fine and give him a limited amount of time to pay all fees and produce all legal documentations,he fails, you seize the land.
You go to his community,he may have been using his power to acquire lands or other properties illegally using that power and closeness to the then goverment of Wike, you simply legally revert those properties to their original owners or community.
There are so many ways to cripple an opponent in Nigeria's warped structure and foundation. You could even go as far as making it legally impossible for him/her to step foot in Rivers State because some of the offences or illegalities the opponent committed are liable to arrest, prosecution and jail terms.
The Nigerian structure gives a governor so much power, that even a traditional stool that predates the Nigerian constitution and federal structure, makes the governor able to dispose a traditional ruler at his whims and caprices.
You sabi the game well.

People do not really understand the exact extent of a governor's powers.

The land use act alone gives him so much powers. He holds all lands within a state in trust for the people.

All he needs to take over even a legitimately acquired land is to declare that the state has overriding interest in the land, and this overriding interest could be a public park or toilet.

visaclick:
one is currently built beside my house now without a foundation. Innitially it didn’t have any pillars at all so now they want to continue from where they stopped they just broke the corners and added pillars but no foundation under the pillar and i was just watching them from my window. Worse of it is that they want to make it a storey building not the initial bongalow they intended. Now tomorrow such building will be well painted with nice pop and the price taged 900k for self contained. Nigerians are wicked.
Very sad situation.

Sadder is the fact those supposed to enforce building standards will look the other way for a fee, endangering the lives of innocent unsuspecting occupants and visitors to the premises.

We are quick to point fingers at those at the helm but in our little corners, we do our own (this is not to absolve those at the helm since they're the policy and trend makers)

I wish you could alert the development control department but they too are most likely compromised.

Is it that these people live in a bubble?

Or there's a special something that they snort or smoke?

Because I can't seem to fathom how they can be so completely detached and oblivious of reality...

It best to avoid any storey building constructed within the last 10 years.

Inflation and high cost make people use substandard materials...
