Education / Students Back On Campus!!a Must Read Article by martynns(m): 12:56pm On Apr 16, 2016 |
Every student is getting prepare for the tasks ahead as they have
resumed. Some are still at home harping about the poor economic of the
country. Some are still at home enjoying their holiday and planning to
come back to school three weeks after the school resumed. I greet you
all and I respect everyone's opinion. Well, wherever you are either on
campus, home or tour, I hope you will get these provocative message I
want to pass across to you.
This is a new start for part one to part three students, a phase that
can change your life either negatively or positively. If there is ever
any time for you to have a good grade and become the best you, the
time is Now!!. You are not your past, you are not a failure, you are a
unique being created by God to be great. If you are a failure in the
past semester or semesters, you can still be a success in this new
semester. It is high time you stopped beating and giving up on
yourself, it is time to step into the life you've once imagined.
As the semester goes by, some will be planning on how to cheat during
exams, some will be thinking on what and who to see to help them to
have good grades, some are looking for friends they will seat with
during exams, some are planning to go to parties, to participate in
all social activities and also to whirl away time. Pick the category
you belong to. Cramming, cheating, and '' I know who is in charge of
the paper'' can see you through three or four years of learning in the
university or college of education, but it will screw you up for forty
years when you are outside the school seeking job.
You are not a dullard, you are brilliant, just that you have wasted
more time depending on others. Those that have 3 or point do not have
four heads, they are not an enigmatic, they are human beings like you.
Change your perspective toward yourself and start helping yourself
creating a better future. Move with friends you can learn from not
accomplices who support you in doing something miserable to have a
good grade. Attend classes even if the lecturer is boring. Take good
notes and make good notes. One thing about learning is that, whatever
you know nobody can take it away from you. Any fool can know but it
takes and intelligent person to understand. Each time you are on a
seat, remember you are sitting on a seat of responsibility. You are
here representing your family. Do not disgrace them by failing to do
your best. Do not go back home without helping your younger ones at
home with their assignments because you have been doing runs in school
and you know nothing yourself.
You are the five people you spend most of your time with. Those five
people you are always with have a lot to do with your life. Their
characters will surely reflect on you because they are those who you
are always with. Do away with toxic relationships and surround
yourself with people that have the same good vision you have for a
better tomorrow. Help yourself to learn as painlessly and tirelessly
as you can, how much you learn is up to you. The price on success is
hardwork and dedication to the work at hand, and the determination
that whether we lose or win, we have already apply our very best to
the work at hand.

Nairaland / General / A Lady 35yrs Seeking For A Husband Went To by martynns(m): 8:58pm On Apr 14, 2016 |
husband went to meet her pastor'he asked
her to do dry fasting for 10days after that she did thanksgiving no
husband'she went back to the pastor and he asked her to repeat same...
That's how gullible some people are, some of you believe in fasting and
prayer when it comes to seeking a partner but I put it to you no
matter the amount of fasting and prayer if you don't lay a personal
foundation for love to flourish you are still going to end up with the
wrong man if you end up finding one, whether you like it or not....
All you need do is re-evaluate yourself and make yourself available.
They don't have to be your boyfriend before you can go out on a date
with them... If you are not matured enough to understand this then you
shouldn't be thinking/seeking to be in a relationship.
And Guys we understand that education is good but the fact remains
that uneducated women too make a perfect home, don't look too far,
that girl you are pushing away just because she does not have a
degree, that girl you overlook everyday you pass by or she passes by
just because she did not go to school can be destined for you, look
inwards and you will be surprised by the amount of happiness she will
end up bringing to you.

Nairaland / General / Know The Difference Stalking/choking Your Partner Is Different From by martynns(m): 6:26pm On Mar 17, 2016 |
When some women enter into a new relationship they come up with the "no sex till I find out he is serious" then later in the relationship when they feel "he is now serious" they will give in to sex... This is laughable how do you know when a guy is serious? Is seriousness giving sex outside wedlock... if you are one of these women you are only fooling yourself delaying sex till you feel a guy is serious does not make sense because after giving sex when you think he's serious he can still dump you. Will you then say he is serious after dumping you? And There's nothing like if you show your partner too much love they start misbehaving. I hear some women say "if you show a man too much love he will start misbehaving/ start taking you for granted" thinking this way is ridiculous. Showing someone much love will rather keep them than push them away the problem is most women who reason this way are not showing their man love but are rather stalking/ choking him.... there's a big difference between stalking/ choking and showing love. When they find them self stalking their man to them following him everywhere and monitoring all his activities is love they think if you love someone then showing it is feeling concern by following them everywhere. When you start stalking your partner the next thing is they see you as a problem they don't see your action as love and so they start pulling away from you rather than appreciate the fact that it is because you love them is why you stalk on them.... This is why some people think that when you show your partner too much love they start misbehaving or take you for granted. Nobody will ever take love for granted no matter what.. Just like the case of a stubborn child whom the parents keep monitoring so he/she won't go astray. To the child they are stalking him/her and he/she start feeling uncomfortable being around their parent but to the parent constantly monitoring the child is them showing they love and care for that child.. Same thing happens when you stalk your partner thinking your constant monitoring is showing them love they start pulling away and to you pulling away is what you now refer to as "taking your love for granted"... know the difference stalking/choking your partner is different from showing them love. Nobody starts misbehaving because you are showing them more love, stalking them with it is what they are reacting to and not the love you are showing them. ..................... Romance / After Lilian Said She's Hurting, by martynns(m): 8:04am On Mar 15, 2016 |
After Lilian said she's hurting, I checked for bruises. After saying She's broken, I searched for Torn up Skin pieces. After saying She's crying, I looked for tears. And after saying She's all alone, I looked around the room. I then looked back at Her and whispered : Your tears are dry, I don't see any Bruises and this room is filled with people. As Her eyes started to fill up with Tears, She whispered back : How can you be so blind? Yes, my eyes are dry because the tears are inside. My bruises don't show because You aren't looking deeper and this room may be full but my heart is empty I looked back, again confused, took Her hand and with that I said : I don't understand but I promise it will be ok, I'm here with you. Allow Me to mend your wounds and dry your tears, let me fill your heart and calm your fears. She looked me straight in the eyes and with a Shaky voice She whispered : thank you. She fell into My arms as I whispered back : I love you. I then knew she accepted and appreciated my availability by peacefully falling asleep in my arms. Falling asleep in someone's arms doesnt mean the person is tired but means that there is hope and trust that in you I am safe and will be better than what I am when I wake up. In simple terms : No sword is Powerful if the Man holding it is Weak .............. From>>http://www.luvkey.com/2016/03/after-lilian-said-shes-hurting-i.html 1 Like |
Romance / Hypocrisy by martynns(m): 7:53am On Mar 14, 2016 |
You desperately need a man in your life because you are seriously aging. You come to Facebook to write things that portray you as someone that has phobia for men. I pity you. 80%of Nigerian men are not weird when it comes to marriage. They can write biography of every woman on social media. Apart from Facebook, try to have good confidant or keep things to yourself. Learn how to listen to yourself. You don't announce everything on this platform. A man you never met proposed to marry you via chat and you rush to announce it on this platform. Yet you claim to be an intellectual. Is it excitement or desperation? I wish I can organise "singles" seminar and allow the ladies to listen to the kind of qualities men of 21st century look out for in ladies. Yes! !!!! Ladies also have taste of their expectations but men have upper hand. I will soon resume my counselling class because many beautiful brains are aging ignorantly for things they can easily adjust/amend. Many relationships are on fire cum volcanic eruption because of social media. ............................................... Crime / I Stole Baby To Have My Bride Price Paid’ By My Man........see PHOTO by martynns(m): 1:15am On Oct 08, 2015 |
Firstclass newsline learnt that the Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday paraded Onyebuchi Jennifer, who was arrested in Anambra State for stealing a baby in Lagos State. She said she stole the baby in the Ajegunle area of Lagos and fled to Anambra State so that her lover could pay her bride price and marry her. The 26-year-old added that she had lied to her lover in Okija, Anambra State, that the baby was the fruit of their relationship. Firstclass newsline had reported on Tuesday that the police arrested Jennifer for allegedly stealing the nine-month-old baby and fleeing with him for four days to Okija, Anambra State. It had been reported that Jennifer, who also hails from Anambra, had befriended the baby's mother, Aina Adetola, for about two weeks, before she carried out the act on Saturday, September 26. Speaking with a source , Jennifer, who claimed to be an orphan, said she got started living with the man in Anambra State in October 2014, adding that he refused to pay her bride price until she had a child for him. The suspect, who said she came to Lagos in June 2015 to look for a way to get pregnant, added that she took the baby to her lover to convince him to pay her bride price. She said, "My mother died when I was in primary five. My father had died a few years earlier. My parents had two of us; but a few years ago, my elder sister died during childbirth. So, I was left alone in Anambra State without any relation. "I gave birth to a child in 2010, but he died after six months. Last year, I met a man who promised to marry me after I had had a child for him. "We started living together in October 2014. I was pregnant, but after three months, I had a miscarriage. I was troubled, and started running after traditional doctors and hospitals, but to no avail. I decided to come to Lagos to work and find a way to get a baby. I came to Lagos in June 2015. "So, I came to the Ajegunle area and I got a job as a fuel attendant. While I was working, I met the baby's mother and we became friends. "On that Saturday, I went to her shop, which was near the filling station. I said I was going to the Boundary area to buy an item and I would carry her baby with me. She did not object. So, I took the baby from her, and boarded a bus to Anambra State to meet my lover." Jennifer added that she bought baby foods to keep the boy healthy after lying to her lover that the baby was theirs. She said, "I did this so that he could pay my bride price and marry me. I did not tell the baby's mother that I was taking him to Anambra. We left on Saturday and got to my place on Sunday. I had the intention to bring the baby back after my bride price had been paid. I lied to my husband that I had been pregnant before I left and gave birth to the baby while in Lagos. "He believed me, and I took good care of the baby for four days before the police showed up in our apartment. "My lover immediately dissociated himself from me. He had not paid the bride price before the police arrested me." Speaking with a source, the boy's father, Adeniyi Adetola, said he was glad to be reunited with his child, adding that the police did a good job for his family. He said, "We are taking the boy to the hospital for further treatment today (Tuesday). The mother and I are happy to have our baby boy back. The baby is my second child, and I appreciate the police for doing a good job on this case. I also appreciate God." The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the command would not tolerate criminals in the state. "The command is doing all it should to bring crimes to the barest minimum, and we want the general public to always avail us of information to be able to do this," he added. Crime / Nemesis:robbers Drown Inside Canal While Escaping With N13,000 by martynns(m): 5:02am On Sep 30, 2015 |
Firstclass newsline learnt that two robbery suspects have drowned inside a canal in the Ojota area of Lagos while they were escaping with a mobile phone and N13,000, snatched from their victim. Firstclass newsline learnt that the deceased were part of a five-man gang, which had unleashed terror on the Olusosun, Ojota, area, before attacking the male victim, whose name had yet to be given, at about 8pm around the Olusosun dump. Firstclass newsline learnt that a local vigilance group, however, apprehended two members of the gang, and handed them over to the Alausa Police Division, while three of the robbers escaped. Firstclass newsline learnt that on Saturday, two corpses, suspected to be the fleeing robbers, were, however, found trapped inside the Olusosun canal around the dump. When our correspondent visited the area, a construction worker, who gave his name as Saliu Ahmed, said officers of the Neighbourhood Watch gave the robbers a chase before two of them slipped into the canal. He said, "It was a about 8pm on Thursday. I knew when officers of the Neighbourhood Watch at the Olusosun dump, gave the robbers a chase. They later got two of them and took them to the police at Alausa. "The robbers had stolen one Nokia mobile phone and the sum of N13,000 from their victim around the dump. Three of the gang members escaped that evening. It was then surprising that on Saturday, at about 12pm, the alarm was raised that two bodies were trapped in the canal. "When the officers came to examine them, it was discovered that the victims were two of the fleeing robbers who slipped and died in the canal. It was the police who later came to remove the corpses." Firstclass newsline learnt that the bodies had been deposited at a public morgue for autopsy. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, had yet to reply to a text message sent to his phone on the incident. Firstclass newsline , however, learnt that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba. Nairaland / General / BREAKING News:another Fuel Tanker Fire Accident Destroys 36 Houses In Lagos by martynns(m): 12:16pm On Jun 06, 2015 |
News reaching firstclass newsline says tha than 36 houses, several shops and cars have been consumed by an raging inferno after a diesel-laden truck crashed and burst into flame in the Idimu, Egbe Idimu Local Council Development Area of Lagos shortly around 12.10am on Saturday. Details of the crash are still sketchy but emergency agencies said on Saturday that it was too early to know if any one died in the inferno, which was said to have been fueled by the contents of the tanker, which spilled and spread along the road and its environs after it crashed. The South-West Public Relations Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye, told firstclass newsline crew on the telephone that the response of the residents when the fire started, helped to avert a loss of lives in the crash. Farinloye added, "That is exactly what we have been preaching during our grassroots sensitisation programme. Our training is in how people should respond when there is an emergency. The residents should be commended for their response; they evacuated immediately the fire st. This was what averted what would have been a tragedy and we believe that others should emulate them. "About 36 houses were affected, but we thank God no one died. I can tell you that the situation has been brought under control. Crime / I Will Stop Giving People Help ─ Suspect by martynns(m): 11:12pm On Jun 01, 2015 |
Firstclass newsline learnt that Richard Utubor, the 35-year-old man arrested by the Lagos police after a lady he picked up from the road died in his apartment, has said he would never assist people again. Utubor, an indigene of Igueben, Edo State, was arrested in the Baruwa Estate, Ipaja area of Lagos State, on Saturday after taking the victim home on Friday. A source had reported that the suspect had taken the deceased home after she asked him for financial help. A police source had told our correspondent that the duo was making love, when the victim died. A neighbour was said to have alerted the police and Utubor was subsequently arrested. Utubor, who had been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba, denied having intercourse with the victim. He said, "I was at School bus stop, Abesan Estate, around 10.30pm when the woman, who was about 40 years old, asked me for financial help. She asked for N200. "I told her I had only N50 on me. She knelt down begging me to assist her, and saying she would follow me to wherever I was going, just to collect the money. "At that point, I agreed to assist her with the N200 she wanted. She followed me to my house, which was not far from the bus stop. When I got home, I opened the door, while she stood outside. "Just as I was about to enter, she complained of a headache. Before I came out from the room with the N200, she had slumped and I immediately called my younger brother and neighbours to assist me. Before I knew it, she was dead." Utubor said he regretted taking the victim to his apartment, adding that he did it in good faith because he had a "giving spirit." The Ordinary National Diploma graduate of Public Administration swore that if he got out of the trouble, he would never render assistance to people again. He said, "I just rented a room and parlour apartment on David Ogunsanya Street because I will be getting married in December this year. I did my traditional wedding during the Easter celebration. "I did not have sex with her. I did not even give her water or food. If God gets me out of this, I will not help people again in my life." He said when he picked the victim from the road, she did not have any means of identification on her and that she only wore her clothes and a pair of slippers. Utubor, who is the eldest in a family of five children, said he did not bother to ask for her name because he had no ulterior motive. "She had no phone, handbag or anything to indicate her identity except a rapper and the dress she had on her. What I just noticed was that immediately she slumped, she was foaming in the mouth. "I did not take her home to sleep with her. That was why I did not bother to ask for her name or where she was coming from or going to," he added. A police source, however, said when Utubor was arrested, he was half naked. Source~ http://www.firstclassnewsline.net/2015/06/i-will-stop-giving-people-help-suspect.html |
Politics / Fulfil Your Promise, declare Your Assets Publicly, Civil Groups To Buhari by martynns(m): 10:47pm On Jun 01, 2015 |
Firstclass newsline has gathered that the Civil society groups and activists on Sunday faulted the failure by President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to publicly declare their assets as promised by them during their electioneering. They have therefore demanded that the assets be made public in the best interest of transparency and accountability. The groups and the activists are the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, the Civil Societies Legislative and Advocacy Centre, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa and Smart Ajaja. A statement by the head of Buhari's media team, Garba Shehu, on Saturday had indicated that the President and the Vice-President had submitted their assets declaration forms separately to the Code of Conduct Bureau on Thursday. The contents of the forms were however not disclosed. Shehu's statement immediately sparked controversy over the willingness of the President and the Vice-President to make their assets known to the public. The statement had indicated that by the submission of their forms to the CCB, they had fulfilled their electoral promise. According to the statement, the CCB, through its Chairman, Sam Saba, had on Friday acknowledged the receipt of the forms. Buhari's declaration identity number was given as "President: 000001/2015." The statement had read in part, "By declaring their assets, President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo may have not only fulfilled the requirements of the Nigerian Constitution, but also fulfilled the first of their many campaign promises. "While seeking election into the highest office in the land, the President had promised Nigerians that he would publicly declare his assets as soon as he took over government." But SERAP, in a statement by its Executive Director, Adetokunbo Mumuni, argued that the "declaration before the CCB alone fell short of the commitment to publicly declare their assets." It said, "SERAP recalls that the President had said before the election that he would publicly declare his assets and liabilities, and encourage all his appointees to publicly declare their assets and liabilities as a pre-condition for appointment. "We now expect the President to fulfil this promise to the Nigerian people. We trust that the President and Vice President will move swiftly to publicly declare their assets and to publish widely the information on a dedicated website. "Public disclosure of assets will give the general public a true picture of the assets of the President and Vice President and will send a powerful message that it is not going to be business as usual with this government. "This will also follow the best practice by former President Umaru Yar'Adua, boost this government's fight against corruption and impunity of perpetrators.'' The group maintained that the public disclosure of assets was crucial for ensuring that public officials' personal interests, including that of the President and Vice President did not conflict with their duties and responsibilities. It stated that public disclosure provided a baseline and means for comparison to identify assets that might have been corruptly acquired and that a public official might legitimately be asked to account for. SERAP also "urged the President to urgently take measures to seek amendment to the law relating to declaration of assets to include the requirement of public disclosure so as to bring it in line with international standards and best practices such as the United Nations Convention Against Corruption." Also, CISLAC said Nigerians were requesting that President and the Vice President make public their asset declarations to increase transparency. Its Executive Director , Awual Musa, said even though the two top government functionaries had fulfilled the constitutional requirement of submitting their asset declaration forms, they needed to take it a step further by making it public. Musa added, "Nigerians appreciate the fact that they have complied with the constitutional requirement of asset declaration. 'What Nigerians are saying now is that making it public will take it a step further because when they make their declaration public, other public officers will have no excuse not to follow suit. "It will go a long way to mark a departure from the past by improving citizens participation because the CCB does not have the manpower and resources to investigate the over 10,000 public officers we have. Citizens can assist." Ajaja, a United States -based activist, in an interview with one of our correspondents, said, " This act must be made public for all Nigerians to see, in order that they may be taken seriously, going by what they stand for and their campaign promises. "Public service is a moral and spiritual call to duty only designed for those with the hunger to serve and make names for their people and themselves, and certainly not for those who are driven by the inordinate ambitions to loot the people's commonwealth to amass ill gotten wealth at their expense and at the detriment of the state and its future." Another human rights activist, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, said that it was unfortunate that the assets were not made public. "Government is run on trust and integrity; and this was one of the selling points for Buhari during his campaign, when he made a solemn covenant with Nigerians. There is no reason to turn away from that path of honour which he has promised Nigerians," he added. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Norrison Quakers and Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Fred Agbaje , said the President and his vice had done all that the constitution required by submitting their asset declaration forms to the CCB. They added that any citizen, with sufficient locus standi could apply for them under the Freedom of Information Act. Agbaje said, "It is a no issue, and as far as I am concerned they have complied with the constitution. But the problem is if Buhari had made it a campaign promise that he is going to publicly declare his assets, he must keep to his words because we all respect him as a man of honour. So, it is too early in the day to act contrary to his campaign promises. "But any citizen of this country who has sufficient locus standi can go to court and compel that that information be made public, but I must warn that the court does not write the constitution, all that the court does is to interprete the constitution. So if you go to court under the FOI Act, can you ask the court to compel him to declare his assets publicly? There is no such provision in the constitution and the court cannot under the guise of interpretation expand the law. The court can only expound on the law." Quakers said, "The most important thing is that the asset has been declared, even though he had said earlier that his assets would be declared publicly. Now public declaration simply means that the information made available to the CCB can also be made available to the public. "Whether he declared it publicly or not is not relevant. The most relevant thing to me is that the information is now in the custody of a public institution and this can be obtained by any individual who is interested. "Any Nigerian who is interested in the assets that have been declared by the President can request for it from the Code of Conduct Bureau under the Freedom of Information Act; you can request for it, it is a public document." Firstclass newsline however gathered in Abuja that Buhari and Osinbajo had not foreclosed public declaration of their assets. A source close to the new administration said in Abuja that the two leaders might declare their assets publicly within the first 100 days as they promised during their electioneering. The source said, "Don't forget they promised to declare their assets publicly within 100 days. What they have done so far is to comply with the provisions of the law and within three days they told that to the public. "They promised to publicly declare the assets within 100 days and I can assure you that they will do so." Buhari had during his campaign released a document in which he outlined what he would do at the start of his administration. The document titled, "My 100 Days Covenant With Nigerians" read, "I pledge to publicly declare my assets and liabilities. "Encourage all my appointees to publicly declare their assets and liabilities as a pre-condition for appointment. All political appointees will only earn the salaries and allowances determined by the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission." Buhari, who also pledged to inaugurate the National Council on Procurement as stipulated in the Procurement Act, said he would review and implement audit recommendations by Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, including those on remittances and remediation. Nairaland / General / True Life Stories:how My Daughter Was Saved From A Stray Bullet....see Photos by martynns(m): 3:54pm On May 30, 2015 |
I have a gigantic testimony to share. This God is too awesome o. Woke up this morning and decided to loosen my girl's hair before arranging breakfast. Done with that, I was in the kitchen busy with breakfast. Little madam was admiring her three ponytails in the mirror at the dining. Next thing, she ran to me crying and clutching the back of her head that it hurts. I thought it was one of her attention seeking moments. Told her sorry and she went off playing. Minutes later, was at the dining cutting vegetables and she exclaimed, pointing at the ceiling above the mirror that a cockroach was there. I looked and saw a small perfect round hole in the ceiling. Strange cos it wasnt there before. I got up to inspect and looked at the floor for the missing part or what burrowed through. I saw something on the rug. I wasnt sure what it was. I thought it was a crawling insect in a shell so I grabbed Bagon and sprayed it, and returned to cutting my vegetables. My girl wanted to get broom to pack it away. I told her to leave it so daddy could see it. Minutes later, when husband returns from queuing for fuel, I showed him and he exclaimed it was a bullet. I laughed it off. How can? But it wasnt a joke o. There was a stray bullet on my floor that came through the roof. I live on the top floor of a two storey house. Hubby went and called the landlord to come see. He was shocked. We are shocked. Nobody heard any gunshot. It was later I remembered my girl stood there, before running to me clutching her head. We checked her very well. No injury or anything. All we could do was thank God and praise Him more and more. I knew I would have a big testimony this month but I didn't know it would be this. How the Lord works to protect us. Many things He does we hardly notice. I always pray for protection and safety of our lives. It has never occurred to me to pray against spray bullets penetrating my roof. I thank the Lord for preservation of lives and giving me a new reason to fire the devil always. Nothing is unimaginable to pray about or against. I am so thankful the song I am singing right now is that of praises and thanksgiving. Not something else. The One who neither sleeps nor slumber will always watched over us and our loved ones forever in Jesus name. Health / I Knew He Was Going To Die....see PHOTO by martynns(m): 12:12pm On May 30, 2015 |
Firstclass newsline gathered that Michael Jayeola Adenaike was affectionate and friendly: a rare gem among his fellow teenagers and a care giver to neighbourhood children that rode bikes or played basketball on the streets and playgrounds with him. But deep inside his florescent humanity and kindness, Michael, with unconditional love and support from his dad, Oba David Adenaike, dealt with terminal brain cancer. He didn't wish world citizens to feel his pain or sympathise with the remaining days of his life, as dictated by the disease and God. He pleased those that were privileged to cross his path those 19 years on planet earth. He smiled into sunset on Sunday, May 24. Michael had a rare form of tumour in his brain called Angio plastic astrocytoma. It was highly aggressive and extremely difficult to treat. Webmd.com describes symptoms of his brain cancer as being "influenced by which part of the brain is involved and the functional system it affects (e.g. motor, sensory, language, etc.). For example, vision problems may result from a tumour near the optic nerve. A tumour in the front part of the brain may affect the ability to concentrate and think. A tumour located in an area that controls motor function may cause weakness, numbness or difficulty with speech. Any tumour that is significantly large can create multiple symptoms because of the pressure created by the mass: Problems controlling eye movement, facial expressions and speech, and weakness in the arms and legs. Adenaike on sick bed "Astrocytomas develop from small, star-shaped cells called astrocytes, and may arise anywhere in the brain or spinal cord. Astrocytomas are the most common primary CNS tumour. In adults, astrocytomas most often occur in the cerebrum, which is the largest part of the brain. The cerebrum uses sensory information to tell us what's going on around us and how our body should respond. The left hemisphere controls the muscles on the right side of the body, while the right hemisphere controls the muscles on the left. The cerebrum also controls speech, movement and emotions, as well as reading, thinking and learning." Michael died early morning of Sunday at the Westchester Medical Center, Vahalla, New York, one year after series of hospitalisation. In his mid teenage years, as an energetic young man and sports enthusiast, Michael complained of headaches. His dad didn't pay serious attention to the headaches, partly because of the way the young athlete handled the discipline of pain management. However, during one of his basketball games at the neighbourhood play ground with friends, Michael fell and was unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors diagnosed him with brain tumour. Few months later, the tumour grew. He was placed on chemotherapy and rehabilitation treatment schedule. But slowly, his condition was deteriorating: yet father and son kept faith and hopeful attitude that Michael would somehow overcome the illness. Oba David Adenaike, paralysed by shock and grief of his only child's terminal disease, got encouragement and prayers from his network of friends, family, neighbours and workmates who stepped in. They initially began raising money to help fund additional medical logistics bills in attempts to save Michael from the deadly illness, as the teenager lay fighting to survive inside the Intensive Care Unit of Westchester Medical Center. He spent months at the hospital where he underwent brain surgery, receiving chemotherapy treatment thereafter. But the brain cancer spread fast at each sunrise. The teenager stayed positive, at peace and courageous in his silent struggles to overcome brain cancer. Quietly but hopefully, Oba David Adenaike began to accept the terms of God's engagement with his faith as regards his only child: "Jebose, no parent wants to bury his only child. That's a taboo in Nigeria: to bury your child. But as reality set in, I embraced that which Almighty God threw at me. I became prepared that Michael at some point would join my ancestors. I did not tell him I might lose him, but I sensed the end game was near these last few weeks. Doctors did everything. I watched him every day breathing through the tubes. There are things that happen in life that are out of your control. I didn't want to be hopeless. We did everything to save my son, but God was the ultimate decider. I dreamt of him coming over to my bed at night and pulling my blanket in the bed, telling me he was cold and wanted me to cover him with the blanket. It was a sign that Michael was going to leave me any day then." Michael Jayeola Adenaike was born on January 9, 1996, in New Jersey, a day when the city was shut down and buried under heavy snow. His mother suddenly went into labour that cold morning. Dad's car during the drive to the hospital developed mechanical problems because of the inclement weather. His car stalled along the road to an Englewood hospital birthing Center, with a pregnant wife in serious labour cramps. A New Jersey City snow plough vehicle clearing snowed streets was hailed for assistance: The snow plough vehicle drove Mr. Adenaike and his wife to the hospital where hours later, a brilliant, bright child, a son, Michael Jayeola Adenaike, was born. He lived 19 years. "Jebose, Michael was a gifted artist, sportsman. He was a kind kid, respectful and selfless. He knew how to diplomatically navigate the relationship between his mother and I, always sailing through us with infectious attitude and love. His brains operated at a higher level; hence sometimes I think that's why he had brain cancer. He would listen to notes in music, especially the keys of the piano and reproduced the same notes. He could write and make music. He never studied music. He played piano notes by ear. I just can't forget how he watched his mother play the piano and immediately replicated it without looking at the music notes. Michael was all I had. I didn't want to have children because it took me years to come to terms with losing my father in a horrible way. Michael came in strange but spectacular ways to my life. He was a great basketball player and swimmer too. He was never ashamed of introducing me to his friends. "That's my father," he always introduced me that way to his friends whenever I was with him. Michael promised to buy me a space ship. He invited me specially to tell his classmates stories about my country, culture and people. On Sunday, I watched my only son die from brain cancer. It's been days since he died and I am making funeral arrangements to bury my son in New York: a son conceived in Nigeria and birthed in the United States. I am stronger now. He becomes my newest ancestor. Jebose, I am not angry. I am pained but my philosophy is impartial. Why should I question God for this sadness? God is impartial. You do not pray such life's tragedy shouldn't happen to you. Why not me?. Those people with cancer diseases have not done anything to God to deserve the affliction. God gives and takes away. You feel it. You overcome it. I cry. I will get over it. I will heal. It's not God trying to punish me, or family members. I try as much as possible to be in the middle of life. When Mike was born, I was excited because I found a trusted friend and everything else: he always smiled at me when I returned from work, my head swelled: he boosted my energy with those smiles, excitedly throwing and kicking his legs on the chair. I thank God for the life he gave me and I was able to enjoy 19 years with him. "I will remember my son as the diplomat we never had: he knew how to negotiate and deal with different human characters. He was a very compassionate son. He wanted to live and care for his mum. I knew he was going to die from the disease. I didn't tell him I was going to lose him. No father should do that: To tell your ailing son he would die from his sickness? That would be traumatic. I remember the day he jumped into Rose, her aunt's swimming pool. I jumped into the pool after him, scared he could drown; that father instinct to protect your child always drove me to dive into the pool. I ended up being the one rescued. It was a hilarious moment for the family…The beauty of his life were his careless charm and amazing personality; a friendly young man with a passion to care for fellow friends and strangers. He was a smart son." The 19 year old will be buried next Saturday in New York City at a cemetery near his father's home. Nairaland / General / BREAKING News:nigeria Military Invades Sambisa Kill Several Terrorists by martynns(m): 6:04pm On May 23, 2015 |
Firstclass newsline gathered that the Defence Headquarters on Saturday said scores of Boko Haram terrorists had died and 20 women and children had been rescued during a military operation in Sambisa Forest in Borno State, on Friday. It was contained in a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen Chris Olukolade, on Saturday. "Despite continuous encounter with large number of land mines, which still litter the Sambisa Forest, troops have forged ahead with the ongoing offensive operations as scores of the terrorists died in the assault on their bases on Friday," Olukolade said. He said several of the terrorists' weapons and equipment were destroyed during the encounter. According to him, over 10 soldiers were, however, wounded, while one died, following explosions of land mines along the routes of advance. He said some equipment were also damaged or affected by the detonation of land mines in several points in the forest. Olukolade added, "A total of 20 women and children were rescued at the end of the Friday operation. They have all been airlifted out of the forest. "The wounded soldiers have also been moved out for necessary treatment. "Two major ammunition dumps, maintained by the terrorists in the forest were also destroyed, along with the four additional terrorists camps that were smashed in the operation of Friday." He explained that an armoured tank and over 10 vehicles, of various types, being used for terrorists operations as well as 70 motorcycles and 15 tricycles had also perished during the operation. The Defence spokesman said air and artillery bombardment of identified terrorists camps and locations in various parts of the forest, including the Alafa aspect, were still ongoing as troops continued the offensive against the terrorists. Olukolade added that a cordon-and-search operation around Bitta, Borno State, had been intensified following an incident, where two young boys were wounded after picking up a grenade from a refuse dump. Firstclass newsline has gathered that a man has been spotted on multiple occasions entering ladies' restroom at a shopping centre in China to eat excreta found in the toilet. A report said the man was caught emerging from the toilet after indulging in his mind-boggling disgusting habit. According to Shanghaiist, the man has been involved in the infamous act for eight years. "A man has been spotted on multiple occasions entering the ladies' restroom at a shopping centre in the Pengjiang district of Jiangmen city and eating excrement found in the toilet. "According to a security guard at the shopping plaza, the man has been spotted visiting the toilets since early this year. "He goes to the second floor ladies' room to find faeces to eat. He usually comes between 8am and 10am during the first half of the day, and then comes again at around 3pm," the guard said. The news source claims a local female resident told Guangdong TV that reports of the man wandering into the public restrooms have left her feeling incredibly uneasy, especially because he's been seen lurking in another female toilet nearby. A doctor from the city told reporters that it's very possible that he has a history of mental illness. The women's toilets at the mall have been locked up, and residents are now calling on the government to help seek treatment for the man. A reporter confronted the man, who says he eats faeces when he's hungry, always feels better after eating it – and has been doing so for eight years. The states that are least indebted are: Taraba N4.56 bn, Borno N4.61 bn, Delta N4.85 bn, Plateau N6.19 bn, Yobe N6.25 bn, Benue N6.62 bn, Abia N6.76 bn, Zamfara N7.11 bn and Kogi N7.16 bn. Osun State is one of Nigeria's poorest states, but it ranked 9th in the list of the most indebted states in the country. One of its debt-accumulating activities was the N11.4 billion sukuk, which made headlines in 2013,but left the state with several projects abandoned and workers' salaries left unpaid for months. In spite of this, the Osun State Governor managed to retain his seat in 2014, elections, exposing the weakness of Labour, in that state. Our politicians have deliberately whittled down the power of Nigerian Labour, by compromising them one way or the other, in order to continuously deceive the people. These Governors who owe workers salaries, rushed into Bonds and debts, and by so doing pledged the future of their states, as they would repay these debts over long time. They recently visited the President Elect, asking for money to pay salaries, but knowing that hard times awaits him too, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari GMB, was not enthusiastic with their requests. Some of them will have realised that hard times have come, but almost all of them, including those who could not pay salaries will try to carry on with expensive and wasteful lifestyles, hopping around in chartered flights, with endless convoys on the roads, and long list of irrelevant aides, while passing the burden to the citizens. A Governor that refused to pay the salaries of workers in his state had no justification whatsoever to receive his salaries, hence Benue and Plateau workers succeeded to push their Governors out, while the rest managed to stay put. Life should be made very uncomfortable, for any Governor, who dares to owe workers a dime, in any month. He should be rejected by workers from that same month. All his deceitful events should be shunned by workers, and information about his financial dealings and life style should be exposed to Lawyers who will drag him or his acolytes for investigations. Since these governors are likely not to cut their costs, they will pass the weight and burden to citizens through all sorts levies, and licenses in the name of Internally Generated Revenue, IGR. They will unleash suffering through things like Cow, Sheep, goat, food, water borehole, Vehicle Driving and Training, TV, Radio, Motorcycle, bicycle, parking, gutter cleaning, and house repainting, and Peper-soup joint fees and licenses, to generate revenue. Now that they have won elections, these Governors will re-introduce all those things and enforcements, on roads and streets that infuriated citizens, which they kept at bay during campaigns. It is feared that austerity measures may be unleashed on the citizenry which could further aggravate the suffering of the ordinary worker. The incoming government does not seem to offer any encouragement to us, with their daily complaints of empty treasury, and huge debts they will inherit, etc, leaving some to wonder if they do not realise that Nigeria expects them to come and effect change. Governors will slap themselves on the wrist with reductions in one or two freebies, and call it 'sacrifice' and then slam full sufferings on the people. GMB may therefore have to look inwards and cut some costs such as the Presidential Fleet, the cost of running the State House, reduction in the number of aides who add no value to governance, taxing the rich, etc. The Excellences, should agree on a template of Aides, staff and convoys, across the nation, to cut wastefulness in governance. Already, workers continue to bear the brunt of the devaluation of the Naira. Yet, we provide our own water, electricity, houses, with no good roads,no good transport system, no good health care delivery, security leaves a lot more to be desired, we spend hours in traffic snarls, now, with no petrol to run our cars etc. The weight of additional austerity measures with its attendant retrenchments will be too heavy for Nigerian workers, and many of them will just die under the pressure! Austerity will fuel corruption as people will try to survive, and it will lead to an increase in crime rate. Instead, moneys should be recovered from Governors, Senators, and Political appointees, who have enriched themselves, through bargains. The public should be involved through a reward system, to expose crimes and stealing by former and incumbent leaders. From News paper reports, over 12 ex-governors who won senate seats in the March 28 election, and 3 incumbent governors have cases of corruption ranging from misappropriation of public funds to money laundering hanging over their necks. We don't need to look too far, as corrupt persons can be identified by their lifestyles before and after holding an office in government. The EFCC, ICPC,and Police, should be funded, and encouraged to achieve recovery of 90 percent of stolen monies from leaders, than jail terms, through reward system for target recoveries. If the change Nigeria have voted for will include proper fight against corruption, then some of these Excellences should be considering alternatives which may include to abscond ! Let's watch them.
