Nigerian comedian Atunyota Akpobome, popularly known as Ali Baba, has been dragged online by a Nigerian lady who attended his just-concluded January 1st comedy show at Eko Hotel, Lagos State, after allegedly receiving p00r treatment despite paying a premium fee.

According to the lady, she paid ₦1 million for a table of 10, expecting the benefits clearly stated on the ticket. However, she claimed that what was provided fell far below what was promised.

In a video shared online, the visibly a&gry attendee described the show as a “sc4m,” revealing that her table was given only two bottles of water and two packs of juice to share among ten people.

She stated that the ticket explicitly promised several complimentary items, including:

One bottle of Hennessy

One bottle of champagne

One bottle of wine

A full case of water (12 bottles)

A full case of soft drinks

Small chops for everyone at the table

None of these, according to her, were delivered.

Expressing her fru6tration, the lady said she had been eagerly anticipating the show and expected value for her money. Instead, she was shocked to learn from a waitress that they would have to buy drinks themselves, despite what was advertised.

She questioned why organisers would list benefits on the ticket if they had no intention of fulfilling them, adding that she would have preferred a straightforward ticket stating that the ₦1 million fee was strictly for seating, with no complimentary items.

Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has condemned the persecution of Christians and adherents of other religions across parts of the world, specifically calling out militant attacks against Christians in Nigeria, saying such violence “must end, and it must end now.”

Dikko was drugged at his apartment in London, placed inside a wooden crate, and transported to Stansted Airport, where the box was labelled as diplomatic cargo. The plan failed when British customs officials, noticing irregularities, opened the crate and discovered Dikko inside, barely conscious.

The incident caused a major diplomatic crisis between Nigeria and the United Kingdom. British authorities arrested several individuals involved, including Nigerian and Israeli nationals, while Nigeria denied official responsibility. The UK government expelled Nigerian diplomats, and diplomatic relations between both countries were temporarily severed.

Later Life

After the failed kidnapping, Umaru Dikko remained in exile for many years. He later reconciled with Nigerian authorities and returned to Nigeria in 1990, following changes in the political climate. He lived a relatively quiet life afterward and did not regain the level of political influence he once held.

Umaru Dikko died on October 28, 2014, at the age of 77.
