Frankenstein:
Sherlock Osi Holmes. But I think as a pastor, he's taken it too far.

Lying through his teeth
Deceit
Unfounded accusations
Breaking and entering
Theft
Trespassing
Recruiting and indoctrinating people into crime
Unlawfully playing the role of a detective
Hiding criminal evidence
Etc
He's not even scared for his life

Stevenson is just an accomplice,my mind is fixated on the empty bottle of alcohol in one of the crime scenes and Stevenson doesn't drink
i think you are wrong. When Okudili and Stevenson as a character was introduced, they had the below conversation ....
"This drink is for real men! Your type should
drink ribena and leave this for men" Okudili
replied him rudely. The only thing that had
kept him from beating the man to a pulp
was because he knew he would be in
trouble with the community.
"Ah..I'd bring by a bottle of SCOTCH later,
you'd enjoy it" Stevenson said"

scoth is an ACHOLIC drink...or is it not?

Who would keep a scotch in his house and claims he doesnt drink? Huh?

Hmmmmm!

After much investigations on this issue,Here are my observations

Like i have always said, STEVE is NOT the Devil(i may be wrong). The below extract from the last episode made me believe that Steve was inside with Amara while Osi watched them from a hidden spot, the below extract backs it up"I was thinking we should stay on the bench under the tree...its windy and more comfortable" she offered "Really? I would have preferred inside(the house)"

This gad me thinking... What is Steve saw Osi(the writer made me believe the Devil did saw Osi where he(Osi) had hid) from where he had hidden before they (Steve and Amara entered into the compound)? Thus the below extract...
"He(Steve) thought hard. Two days ago, he had dodged a bullet and since then his mind hadn't really been at rest. Especially with the pastor still around. He decided not to risk it. He entered his room and opened his wardrobe. He dug inside, and retrieved a slim case."

"Stevenson opened the case, using a 4 digit combination code and stared at the contents. Satisfied, he locked the briefcase and carried it with him. He didn't feel he should let it out of his sight today."
....maybe he was scared Osi would come for it(the slim case) which he(Osi) did

That night the devil hunted. He didn't roam around the village like before, not this time. He had a specific prey on his mind. He positioned in the bush- the very same bush he had seen the tall pastor hide this morning and smiled at the irony. The very same man who saw himself as the defender of the universe had been responsible for showing him such a promising spot. " The above extract made me believe that the Devil is keeping close tabs on Osi,maybe: just maybe he was watching Osi closely to know his next move thats how he saw him(Osi) from where he had hidden (it might have been Steve).....

NOTE:My above observation is subject to wrong judgement

Like i said before, paul might have stumbled on the body "What! I did no such thing...I arrived the
Virgil almost at the end and heard some
kind of noise...I investigated it and
stumbled upon the body...I tried to check
for his pulse but I found out he literally
didn't have one"
extract from chapter 12

MY OBSERVATIONs

from the below extracts, maybe Benedict is trying to use other means(gifts;he also gives Chinaza before her death) .He's trying to befriend her first, since they were NEVER good friends (it was never stated they),Thus the gifts
"Amara...check out this anteater....my traps caught it this very morning...let me cut it open for you and you prepare pepper soup for Dé"

"You know what, its not everything that
you sell..let's call it a gift"

"I'm fine...I'll be right back please" she dashed away from his hall causing him to frown.

am feeling like a crime buster now
NOTE; i may be wrong, for they are just my observations, and are subject to wrong judgements

MY OBSERVATIONS

i still dont think Paul is the Devil.

"He had seen a lot
of things and he knew a lot of secrets. If
he was going down, he wasn't going
down alone."

The extract above was Okudili's thought at the stream before his death....... What if he(Okudili) was trying to pin it(his death) on someone,he left for the rivival ground( since thats where most of the villagers are) and too bad for Paul he was at the wrong place.

"She looked at him and her eyes must have
portrayed her thoughts because he held
up his hands. "Amara I swear it wasn't
me...I didn't do it...." But he was already
moving backwards."

===> Maybe; just maybe Paul saw Okudili's dead body after Ovie might have seen it;the time difference between when Ovie saw body and the close of the service, there is a possibility Paul might have come across the corpse also, and also a possibility that Okudili might have been alive then(Ovie didnt confirm if he was dead then)

===> let us assume that Paul didnt have a torch light like Ovie did, upon coming across the body. Maybe he tried helping Okudili and he dies in his arms(thus the blood stain)

===> maybe Paul was trying to tell Amara, thus his jittering "Okay but the thing be say-" he turned around and she could swear he was jittery.

===> Okudili cant be the Devil because in every thriller story, the Misery must be solved

if everyone in the community can recognise the person voice.

definitely the Devil is Stevenson.

souloho thumb up
you may be wrong though
"She recognized the voice immediately.
Everybody knew that voice, or 'ALMOST'
everybody at least."

if am to judge from the above extract,i doubt it to be Stevenson reason being that everybody(not almost) knew him(Stevenson), down to the little children "......he was 5'11 in
his early forties and quite a handsome man.
But he was loved by ALL the villagers because
of his humility, respectful and caring
attitude."

The above extract was taken from the act/scene where Stevenson as character was introduced, the writer made me believe that the whole village knew Stevenson, thus they would easily recognised his voice

that word "ALMOST" would make me think otherwise

Am i making sense?
Am not sure i am

(#clapping)..... Well done

A new character was created to counter the statement "where does Bathelomeow sleeps"..... Sofari

Paul now potraying the devil's trait....the blood stain. The writter is trying to pin in on him,i dont see him being the Killer (my view though)....

Boderline stated that ".......story lies in the fact that the writer can in
the end decide to pin the devil on not less
than three characters without reducing
the quality of the piece in any way
whatsoever"
.... I think i'd stick to that extract above,i dont want you to pin it on ME

Am begining to suspect that butcher at the market square..whats his name again?..Benedict...........mehn i can so feel it am using "gods eyes" (literally)...

Souloho19 Why am i the only one suspecting the butcher?

MY CRAZY THEORY

"Benedict was seen as the youth leader, an
unofficial title he carried because he had
that leadership quality:in this case:
strength, popularity and a penchant for
violence.
He owned an abattoir in the market where
he slaughtered and sold beef."

"He had always liked Chinaza and even
though she had turned down his
advances, he had always given her extra
chunks of beef whenever she passed by
the slaughterhouse."

"Osi hurried out. He ran through the path,
ran past the market square and didn't stop
until he got to the house."
i think thats where OSI lost the letter

MEHN ... Just thinking outa the box
(1) Benedict had a thing for Chinaza(other girls as well),he might have been an illitrate, and might have ask the EUropean to help him write the Letters(not more than one) thus the resemblance in the writting,
(2) i saw a post stating that one of the 'De' is behind the attack. Am not sure any of them have the agility to run( thats when Osi was chasing him)
(3) am not sure its Paul "The devil walked round the market square,
enjoying the clear sky and the cool breeze.
His appetite had been satisfied
temporarily."
this extract was before Amara and Oluchi went to fetch Paul.... Can he be at the park and still in the market? That i doubt
(4)"Ezinne...its me, I left your mother a little bit at the market and she said I should deliver something" She recognized the voice immediately. Everybody knew that voice, or almost everybody at least. " Ezinne's mum went to the market,Ezinne opens the door because a messages came from her mum which is in the market the messenger by the door is Popular,Benedict comes to mind;NOT that he is the only popular person...but the writer made me believe his the popular in the market,of which i believe he is the only Butcher(since none other is stated),if there is another butcher, when the prime suspect(Okudili) was seen by the stream the youth went for his head,"None of them had any weapon apart from Benedict who had been on butchering duty and thus held a dangerous machete. It didn't matter though.......... Only Benedict was carrying a weapon that wont be possible if there were other butcher in the market square
(5) Benedict went there in search of the letter because if the letter was found and linked to who "wrote" (Steve) ,he(Steve) would point out to who he wrote it for (Benedict)
(6) when Steve held Osi,i believe he let him go because Osi might pin it(devil) on him
(7) there is no scene Okudili acted as the Devil, other than him running rather than defending himself
(cool when Osi was telling the crowd (rather MOB) about the holy communiun to be held at Night, when Steve was about to be mobbed.......i was made to believe Benedict was there also, since he was leading the mob

(9) Steve might just be writng down the victims name for his book...
Somebody please tell me am wrong, those theory dosnt even make sense to me......

And again, where does pastor Bethelomeow sleeps? :::that might put him on my black list(suspect list)

How can you let a fictional character suffer like this? (na wa for me sef o). Some time ago,you told me .....
