Thorn put a finishing touches on the maquillage on her face. The white hue of her face giving the green color of her eyes, lips and silky hair a contrast that she liked. Looking at her image once again on the silver mirror, she sighed with delight as the green filigree covering few parts of her body, leaving the slim neck, alluring shoulders, just the peep of the bump on her chest exposed. The emerald intricate design of the dress clung to her body like a second skin. From the top of her thighs, a long slit made on the dress left ample glimpses for her shapely long legs for those who get their satisfaction watching it.
Her door was roughly pushed open spilling someone who fell in a tangle with the curtains that covered the entrance and distracting Thorn from her contented thoughts.
“Who dare violate my privacy? “ Thorn asked hardly.
The person quickly untangle from the curtains “A thousand apologies my lady. It was an act of desperation.”
Taking careful look, Thorn noticed it was one of her callgirl that just barged in. “Carla what are you talking about? “

Thorn was thoughtful for a while. If Khardi was the one in charge, she would have known how to handle this but Tarikh is an unpredictable person. Only one option is left for her.
“Pass these instructions to Marilee, your head. Tell her to break open the safe, bring out the coins in it and distribute it to all you girls that she can reach, that will be your pay. Then you all should scatter. She pulled out her traveling clothes, a tight all body fitting leather clothes. She pulled on soft leather boots. She got out a very thin stiletto which she fix inside the boot. She pulled out a long unused rapier, but always well oiled and kept sharp. The thin blade fit perfectly into the equally slim scabbard. Bringing out a small sack with ropes weaved around it to help with carrying it, she quickly filled it with provisions that will last just two days then she considered the most precious of all her possession, her spices.
Thorn knows there’s no way she can leave here without having to confront some opposition and with that in mind she sort the most potent of her poisonous spices. She had nicknamed it the green death. This poisonous ointment is made from several rare materials. Firstly, it is started with the mixture of white, red and green lotus flowers. They are responsible for the sweet fragrance of the poison and the color. The white and red lotus give the scent and the green one the color. Also these lotus have very strong binding properties that can hold the active ingredient in the poison.
The next ingredients is from the salt sea green mollusk. The mollusk produces a green gel that is highly poisonous but also mildly acidic. The green mollusk can only be found on a single night towards the end of summer around the edge of Grimwood along the shore of World Edge Sea. The most interesting part of this concoction is also the most deadly aspect. The main active poison ingredient for it is from the Swamp asp native mostly to the snake Swamp in Gondola. That reptile is an interesting animal. It is actually a poisonous serpent but a non venomous one. A smaller relative of the ophidian, the Pit Viper, the Swamp asp doesn’t have venom in its bite. The poison of this animal is in its bones. In fact the Swamp asp is dangerous when dead than alive. Because at death, the reptile’s body decays fast, leaving the highly dangerous bones exposed. Just a tiny cut from that bone guarantee certain death. That is way the Swamp asp have no natural predators that feeds on it.

So with the bones of the Swamp asp, the ingredients for the green death is complete. All three lotus are grinded together into a paste. The gel from the green mollusk is added, which quickly break the paste of the lotus into a thick liquid. The dried bones of the asp is then grinded into a powder which is mixed with thick liquid of the lotus and mollusk. It takes eighty days for the thick liquid to totally break down the powder from the bones and absorb it totally with the liquid. At this stage, the green death is already very potent and deadly. But Thorn had wanted it to be a poison she can be used airborne. To accomplish that, she sort for the leather worm, a larvae of the black wasp. That larvae is good at quickly digesting liquid substances and passing them out as gas. So Thorn then got a well sealed bottle with a tiny sprayer at the top. She poured the poison of the lotus, mollusk and asp bone in the bottle, put the leather worm in it and sealed it up. The leather worm digested the liquid in the bottle which became gas but its body decomposed too after it died and also fueled the gas within the bottle. The memory of creating passed through her mind as Thorn lifted the bottle of green death and smiled
This genius apothecary’s work is her pride and joy. This concoction is so rare that almost no body knows about it outside Gondola, therefore no much known antidote or remedies. Well Thorn has an antidote which she had already drank. The antidote of the green death also takes careful preparations. The antidote is made from the pollen grains from the black mistletoe that is very difficult to gather and get. Another ingredient used for the antidote is from a petal of the silk calla. This particular one is more tricky to get. The petal from the silk calla is not just in anyway. The particular ingredient from the silk calla is not always available in the plant. You have to wait for the first dew formed by the first rain of summer. The dew falls on the silk calla all night and the first ray of the morning sunlight react with the dew already absorbed by the petal all night creating a particular colorless gel. This is what is extracted from the silk calla petal to be used as an antidote. Another thing about this colorless gel is that it is very fragile that after the first early morning sunlight, any other sunlight hitting the petal destroys the potency of the gel making it valueless.

The last ingredient for the antidote is the black liquid from the poison gland from the sand dart frog. The frog is so dangerous that touching its skin can give you very serious burns on your palm. The frog has to be killed and the poison squeezed out through the space between the frog’s double layer skins. The poison of the dart frog when mixed with the other ingredients, neutralizes the harmful aspect of the black liquid poison turning it into one of the most powerful antidote on Ghemmaria. After taking all necessary precautions, she sprayed the green death in the room, then sat down to wait. At least the air borne poison will be potent in the room for few hours. Another dangerous aspect of the green death when airborne is, its effects are not immediately noticeable, until after a minute, by then the subject has already inhaled enough poison into his body to insure his death without him noticing. The poison has a very pleasant fragrance as a result of the use of the three different lotus in it. But that pleasant scent is irreversible death in disguise.

There were sounds of scuffles, savage blows and bodies dropping heavily at the entrance of the door. Just then the curtains covering the entrance were parted roughly and rough looking men panting heavily trooped in to the room and crowding the entrance. From what Thorn could see, they were about a dozen of them with armors gleaming and cylindrical helmets covering their heads all with drawn swords and armed crossbows. They are putting on the color and armored breastplates of Tarikh’s personal guards.
“.Dannard I won the bet, you are now owing me three coins. “ The soldier that was the first through the door said to his colleague moving in behind him at his left. “I told you we will definitely meet her here. “
“Oh sergeant must you always win every bet. “ the one called Dannard grumbled weakly. “I’m down to my last copper coins and pay day isn’t till another six days hence. “
Waving his open palm at Dannard imploring him. “Pay up dog, it’s not my fault you bedded more than your usual share of whores this week. When you gamble always expect to loose. Remember this major gambling law, every hand is a winner and a looser. “
Dannard reluctantly dropped three dull copper coins into the open palms of his sergeant who placed the coins in a small purse attached to his belt.

He was fat with big drooping stomach that couldn’t accommodate the size of his breastplate armor even when it was of the largest size. His face was plastered with a wolfish grin covered by shaggy greasy beard. “Hey sergeant what do you think? “
The sergeant took a long look at Thorn as she sat down on the chair with a cold smile on her face made all the more chilling due to the ghostly low light from the candles. “Seems she is just wrapped for us to take. “ After a short laugh he addressed Thorn. “Hail dame, well meet, I hope. Well the illustrious baron Tarikh have requested, nay, commanded, that you be escorted to his presence. “
Thorn said nothing only shrugged and kept sitting.
“Sergeant don’t you think we should take our time with her and have fun before taking her to the baron? “ bending his neck slightly, the bushy beard soldier whispered loudly to the sergeant. “She looks like a nice piece of flesh, it will be sad to allow such well breed stock to go to waste. “
“Well sounds good. I don’t think the order from the baron included bringing her in unspoilt. You dogs may just take your turns at her. “ The sergeant said conspiratorially.
Thorn just smiled more wildly cocking her head to one side.
“Oh seems the bitch is going to like it. “ Dannard said after a bawdy laugh. "Well can I be allowed to go first? My loins is already aflame. “

“I’m not surprised Dannard. “ said the sergeant. “Considering the amount of time and money you have spent this week at LovePeddler houses. Well go ahead and sate the desires of your loins. “
Dannard took just two steps forward before he staggered a bit. “Hey sergeant are you people feeling this too, it’s like the room is shaking. “
“No Dannard all the shaking of this room is in your head. “ the sergeant replied harshly. “Looks like you filled your self up with wine before joining us which is strictly against regulations. “
“Oh I don’t know about that sergeant. “ the bushy beard soldier said. “Dannard might not be totally right, the room seem to be wavering all of a sudden. “
He was still speaking when Dannard dropped heavily on the ground. The bearded man also collapsed after his speech.
“What the Devils sick joke is this? “ the sergeant yelled at the fallen soldiers. While he was yelling, others soldiers behind him began to drop one after the other. Soon he was the only one standing. “Your sorcerous witchcraft won’t work on me bitch. “ He said as he observed that Thorn continued smiling unperturbed by the occurrence. He lifted his sword intending to move forward and strike her down when he felt sharp pains in his stomach as if a thousand tiny sharp blades pierced him at once. While still reeling from that, his lungs and heart felt as if they are being squeezed by a giant hand. He convulsed on his feet, fell on the floor his sword dropping from nerveless fingers, thick colored blood mixed with yellowish liquid spew from his nose and mouth . Fear gripped him as he knows he is about to die. His eyes staring at the calmly sitting woman on the chair who was still smiling at him as if on a private joke. His eye looked on as it slowly began to cloud over then dropped down seeing only eternal darkness.

Picked up a specialized bow, made from boboa tree’s tender branch and the Ivory tusk of snow mastodon, a giant pachyderm, an almost extinct species that can only be found around the cold regions of Krager’s Fist mountain. The bow is a well crafted composite one with strong tensility. Medium length but can compete with long bow for effective range of bowshot. She took a quiver full of arrows slung on her back. She felt a pang of sorrow in her heart as she saw the dead body of Zimri amidst two other dead bodies of soldiers. He must have been killed while trying to stop them from barging into his mistress' room. She pushed that thought from her heart and moved along the thin passage outside her door. She was glad to note that all the rooms in her whorehouse that is always filled up with her girls and their customers, were totally empty without any dead bodies.
Going out through the door of the building was definitely unwise, so she took the back door which will lead her to an alley. As she pushed the small door open a bit, she took a quick peek into the alley. The usual gathering of beggars, thieves, pickpockets and robbers that mill around that area were there. As she was about to step boldly out of the door, a beggar, dressed in very dirty rags gave a slight indication with his head at the roof of the building opposite the whorehouse she is about to step out from. The beggar was pretending to be a blind man that is led about by a girl just a little below ten years. The girl in an act of trying to help the blind beggar up pointed at the roof of the building they had been taking shade on.
