A woman saw a man masturbating beside her on the plane and when she complained to flight attendants, they laughed and made jokes at her, so she filmed the man in the act and shared it online.



Genevieve Pascolla, 26, who was travelling from London’s Heathrow to Chicago, took to Instagram to share a video of the incident and the response she got from United Airlines after sending them a formal complaint

She wrote: "On this flight the man next to me started masturbating. I woke up and saw him touching himself under a blanket. I woke the woman next to me and got out of there to tell a flight attendant, the attendants checked and confirmed that he was masturbating in public.

"They then started making jokes about the situation asking 'what perfume are you wearing' and excusing him saying 'he’s had a bit of wine' no one stopped him."

She continued: "He was allowed to finish, with a child sitting closely by. After exiting the plane first to talk to security the security guard asked me if I’d like an apology from the offender I immediately rejected the request."

Genevieve, who works as a photographer, said the incident happened when she was travelling home to Chicago on 4 June.

In an email to Genevieve, United Airlines’ Customer Care Officer Lauren Michaels said: "Your observation are important as they help us improve areas needing our attention.

"Unfortunately, we are unable to honour your request for a refund of your travel from London to Chicago or offer goodwill compensation.

"Again, I apologize for the uncomfortable situation you experienced. I appreciate that you chose United for your travel. We hope your next trip with us will be a more positive experience."

In reply to the mail from United Airlines, Genevieve said: "It took United Airlines a month an a half to respond to my complaint. And I received this email today. I am appalled at the lack of action taken in this situation in which as a woman, I was terrified.

"This man is clearly capable of much more. So women and men out there pick an airline that cares about your safety."

She concluded: "United Airlines referring to being assaulted on one of your flight as an 'uncomfortable experience' is a bit of an understatement. (See email) your lack of action is disgusting."

In a statement to BuzzFeed News, United Airlines spokeswoman Maddie King called the incident "inappropriate and offensive" but said that incidents like these are "extremely rare".

She said: "That’s why, in this case, our customers were promptly moved to different seats in a different section of the plane and law enforcement officials were summoned in advance to meet the perpetrator when the plane pulled into the gate."

It's not every day you find a cat sitting down like other students to study.

A cat was photographed sitting on a bench with a book opened in between its paws in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.



While students went to Awo cafe to read, the cat joined them, took up space on an empty bench and began looking through a book to the amusement of other studying students

A controversy ensued on social media during the week when a radio presenter, Misi Molu, had stated during an interview that she preferred Yemi Alade as a singer with better vocal range than Tiwa Savage, who, in her opinion, just usually shouted.

During that same interview, Yemi also said that she doesn’t believe there is a ‘number one’ artiste in Africa as the top acts were all doing well and could fill the same concert venues.

Days after a recording of the interview was posted online, Tiwa Savage made a series of posts to insinuate that Misi Molu had earlier begged her for money via social media shortly before airing her views about her talent.

She wrote,

“Wow! They beg you for money today and talk trash tomorrow because it’s not personal; they’re just doing their job, abi?”

In another post, she stated,

“Celebrities are human o. You can’t beg for money then talk trash and expect me to not catch feelings. Like, are you serious? Next time you think of sliding in my DM asking for money or anything; remember your personal opinion and miss me with your BS.”

However, in a chat with Sunday Scoop, Misi Molu tasked Tiwa Savage to provide proof that she begged her for money. Reacting to Savage’s posts, she said,

“Personally, I don’t believe she was talking about me. But if she is, she needs to show evidence to that fact. The situation has been blown way out of proportion than what the intentions of the discussion were actually meant to be. People are giving it way too much credence.”

On the propriety of comparing both artistes, especially when Yemi was in the studio with her, Imolu said,

“The type of industry we are in; we are constantly faced with comparison. For example, I have a colleague I’m constantly compared to at work. I did my job by showing my personality as an on air personality. The only problem is that some people do not agree with my opinion and that’s fine.”

Meanwhile, in a chat with Sunday Scoop, Yemi Alade refused to comment on her comparism with Tiwa Savage but she maintained her stance that there was no number one artiste in the country. Speaking through her manager, Taye Aliyu, she said,

“All of the top artistes in the country are blessed by God and they are all doing well in their respective ways. We don’t always have to compare artistes because they have their individual uniqueness. Yemi is always focused on her craft; she doesn’t have time for rivalry.”

Nollywood actress Chika Ike has revealed that she normally says her prayers before visiting popular social media platform, Instagram.

Chika Ike, who recently became an author, told Sunday Scoop that she was aware the negativity spreading all over the Internet, especially on Instagram, had the ability to spoil one’s day.

“Instagram can spoil your day if you are not careful or strong. There is so much negativity in the world right now; so, you have to guard yourself with prayers. There is a need to start your day in a positive light and when you pray, your day has started positively,” she added.

Speaking on why she wrote a book on her failed marriage and father’s rejection, she said God deliberately made everyone to go through certain things in life so that one could learn and share. The actress said,

“If you go through a lot of things and you are not willing to share, you’ve not achieved the purpose of God for your life. People will always have their perspectives about life and they talk about the dead too. I have gone through the phase of being scared or afraid of being judged by the public. I am learning every day to focus on myself; I cannot control anyone’s thoughts. I was rejected from birth by my father and I addressed it in my new book.”

In the said book, Ike also stressed the role her mother played in her life before she died.

“Before my mother died three years ago, I had a discussion with her in the hospital. She wanted to know when I would publish my book; she was once an author too. I told her I was scared and she told me to tell the truth,” said the actress.

“When she died, I lost myself for two years and I did a lot of therapy to get myself together. I was so attached to my mother and I didn’t want to disappoint her because she gave me her last word. My mother’s death made me understand that life is too short and we don’t have much time on earth. We don’t know how tomorrow would be; so, the earlier we started achieving our set goals, the better for us. It took me seven years to write my book because I was afraid to share some private things about me at some point. ”
