Unfortunately, a lot of our men see themselves in Senator Ibrahim. He's a mirror of their life unknown. This defence of his "privacy" is only an expression of solidarity with kindred spirit.
But you're not a lawmaker, your life is not being funded with public money and neither are you the very shariah-advocating bourgeoisie who represents a public demographic at the Senate.
What's telling - or tampering with the senses of our men - in this case of the randy senator, isn't religion. It's patriarchy, this belief that Mr. Ibrahim should get away with the worse of what Miss Rahama Sadau was ostracized for.
Isn't it ironic that the West, a society of "infidels", has more politicians with conscience than your so-called ideal society - and its mockery of shariah legal system?
Compare the "apologies" of the two senators quoted above and tell which, between the shariah advocate and resident of the free world, represents the viewpoint of a responsible man?
Senator Vitter wasn't even caught pants down. Literally. It was his phone number that was identified from phone records published by a company convicted of running a prostitution service.
