Politics18 Things Nigerians Should Expect In 2016 Under Buhari’s Govt – Governor Fayose by mascot19(op): 8:47am On Dec 23, 2015
ontroversial governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose has continued to criticise the President in his list of 18 things Nigerians should expect from Buhari in 2016.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose
Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has in his controversial style unveiled 18 things Nigerians should expect to happen under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government in 2016.
In a statement personally signed by Fayose, yesterday, he said: “Fellow Nigerians, I want you to take note of the followings that will unavoidably happen under the Buhari-led government in 2016.”
1. Workers Strike: There will be so much industrial unrest, especially in the first quarter of the year.
2. Subsidy: There will be removal of fuel subsidy and petrol (PMS) will sell over and above N100/litre, leaving the ma$$es in more serious hardship. Product will not be available and long queue in petrol stations will persist throughout the first quarter of 2016 and beyond.
3. Electricity: Power generation will drop to the lowest ebb. Still, Federal Government will increase tariff in 2016.
4. Unemployment: Millions of jobs will be lost in 2016 as against the three million jobs promised by the APC yearly. Most States and Federal Government will retrench workers as evident in the over 2,000 Federal University workers already sacked.
5. Economic Policy: Most private owned middle-cla$$ businesses will fold up because of bad economic policies of the Buhari-led government.
6. Devaluation: The Naira will continue to have a free fall which will take it to as low as N320 to one Dollar.
7. Economy: The Buhari-led FG will have no solution to country’s economic problems.
8. Security: Boko Haram will keep spreading and the Shiite Muslims will get more emboldened.
9. Human Rights: Penchant for dictatorship will rise with rampant human rights abuses and disobedience to court orders.
10. Anti-Corruption: Insincerity in the fight against corruption will continue and the fight will not only be selective and political, but targeted more at Southerners.
11. Elections: Attempt to forcefully control any of the South South States of Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa by the APC will lead to unprecedented deaths.
12. Economy: Crude oil price will fall to below and about $30 per barrel.
13. Anti-Press Laws: The ma$$es, especially men of the media profession will rise against the FG’s plot to deny Nigerians of their rights to freedom of expression. There will wide condemnations by Nigerians and the International community against President Buhari’s human rights abuses and disobedience to court orders.
14. Polity: Renewed efforts will be made to remove Senator Bukola Saraki as the Senate President; this will not only fail, but will heat the polity.
15. Hardships: Nigerians will experience more hardships. The President himself attested to this (THE SUN newspaper Tuesday, December 15, 2015). This obviously negates the change Nigerians voted for.
16. Corruption: Halliburton scam may be revisited in 2016.
17. Kogi State: Court will sack Governor-Elect, Yahaya Bello.
Bayelsa State: Governor Seriake d*ckson will win the supplementary election.
Taraba State: Governor Darius Ishaku will be victorious at the Court.
18. Politics: There will be subtle political alignment and realignment before the end of the year ahead of 2019 elections.

SportsMonday, 21 December 2015 It's Arsenal's For The Taking: Inspired Ozil Can Fire W by mascot19(op): 12:06am On Dec 22, 2015
-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night to announce themselves as favourites to win the Premier League
If this was the defining match of the Premier League season so far, then it was the night when Arsenal announced themselves as favourites to win the title.

The roar of 60,000 supporters at the full-time whistle was one of joy, passion and - most importantly - belief.

Because it now truly feels like this is Arsenal’s season. It’s certainly their title to lose if we are to assume that at some point Leicester will fade away.

While the rest of the division's big clubs are in varying degrees of turmoil, Arsenal are stable, together and brimming with confidence.

On Monday night, they showed the character of champions to beat their biggest title rivals Manchester City 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

It almost made more of a statement that they had to pass a huge test and defend resolutely against a barrage of City attacks in the final stages after Yaya Toure had scored to put the visitors back in the game.

Arsene Wenger has consistently defended the mentality of a group of players which have always seemed fragile.

With Arsenal, you usually sense that the next crisis is just around the corner.

This time, though, it really might be different.

Even without the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin, they found a way to beat a City that were able to start a £50 million signing on the bench in Raheem Sterling.

They are two points behind leaders Leicester at Christmas and will be eyeing top spot for the turn of the year.

In many ways, this display was similar to the manner in which Arsenal beat City 2-0 in Manchester in January that started their excellent run of form in the calendar year 2015.

Arsene Wenger has so often lost against the better sides because of his desire to outplay opponents and the subsequent amount of space afforded to players with the quality to punish them.

Here, the hosts sat deep, restricted space between the lines and looked to spring on the counter-attack.

It could hardly have worked out any better. Wenger spends much of his time talking about “efficiency” in front of goal and his players went in 2-0 ahead at the break having scored with both of their attempted shots on goal.

It needed a little luck and the night may have panned out very differently had Kevin De Bruyne not dragged wide of the post from a fantastic position in the 32nd minute.

It might end up being a sliding doors moment in the title race because one minute later, Arsenal took the lead through a brilliant strike from Theo Walcott as he curled into the corner from the edge of the penalty area.

He was set up by Mesut Ozil and the assist King took his tally to 15 for the season in the Premier League in added time at the end of the first-half as he fed Olivier Giroud and the striker fired low into the bottom corner.

In the second-half, the game-management was almost perfect and the Gunners and it would have been all over had Joel Campbell and then Aaron Ramsey missed glorious chances to score a third.

Toure’s stunning strike late on ensured a nerve-jangling denouement as Wenger paced on the touchline, shadow kicking every ball and squeezing his players forward to close space on the pitch.

Wenger will never have a better chance to win his first title since his dominant Invincibles side in 2004. This was the night when every Arsenal fan truly began to believe.

SportsThe Rise And Fall Of Jose Mourinho At Stamford Bridge by mascot19(op): 8:11am On Dec 19, 2015
Jose Mourinho is regarded by many as one of the greatest managers in modern day football having racked up a large number of individual accolades as well as trophies with all the team’s he’s managed.

The Portuguese boss rose to prominence after he won the UEFA Champions League trophy with Porto in 2004 making him one of the most sought after managers in European football at that time.

Not long after the Champions League victory, Chelsea came calling, and he signed for the Blues in 2004 becoming one of the highest paid coaches in football with an annual salary of £4.2 million that was subsequently raised to £5.2 million in 2005.

Under Jose Chelsea won their first league title in 50 years, the Blues then won a second consecutive Premier League title the following season.

Things certainly couldn’t get better for Mourinho then as the only success he was missing was a Champions League win with Chelsea.

The former Porto manager allegedly fell out with Roman Abramovic as both were avoiding eye contact on a number of issues including the signing of Andriy Shevchenko.

His disagreements with the Chelsea owner apparently led to his exit in 2007.

His return to Chelsea in 2013 was greeted with many expectations, but he finished the season with bringing any silverware to Stamford Bridge. However, things started turning up right for the self-proclaimed special one the following season as Chelsea lifted the Premier League trophy in the 2014-15 season.

But the success proved very short lived as Chelsea’s campaign as defending champions has been a far cry from what it was in the previous season. Right now, the reigning champions are flirting with relegation zone following their poor performances which leaves them at 16th on the table.

The news of Mourinho’s sacking just came a couple of days ago but what actually caused the downfall of such a talented Manager?

Unlike his former mentor Louis Van Gaal Mourinho is known for his eccentric tactical style except during games where he requires a draw or games against significantly stronger sides where he uses his ‘Park the bus tactic’.

Earlier this season he had some friction with former Chelsea physio Eva Carneiro as he blamed her for reducing the squad to ten men against Swansea as she ran onto the pitch to treat Eden Hazard.

Although looking at Mourinho’s treatment of some players, it’s evident he didn’t appreciate the importance of certain players to the team that in turn caused some players to lose their respect for Mourinho as a manager and resulted in bad performances on the pitch.

One thing Mourinho definitely had the backing of the fans, Chelsea fans cherished and respected his presence at the club, and his recent sacking has come as disheartening news to Chelsea fans around the world as many expected him to turn things around in the new year.

The loss to Leicester on Monday certainly was the final blow in Mourinho’s Chelsea career as the Board were fed up with Chelsea’s poor run of form.

Roman Abramovich admitted it was a hard decision to let Mourinho go, but it was done with the club’s best interest at heart.

It was quite obvious that the players had lost motivation under Mourinho this season, with the key players in the side such as Hazard and Diego Costa not playing to their full potential.

With Chelsea’s chances at top four looking slim, Abramovich will have to bring in an experienced manager that can help them finish as high up in the league as they possibly can.

Chelsea are still in contention for the Champions League, but they face a difficult task in getting through to the quarter-finals as they are set to face PSG in the Round of 16 when the new year kicks off.

The ongoing season could very well be a repeat of the Champions League victory in 2012 when Chelsea had a poor league campaign under Di Matteo but went on to win the biggest prize in club football beating the likes of Benfica and Barcelona on the road to the final against Bayern Munich.

SportsBust Up At Chelsea Training Ground As Players Throw Punches At Each Other With A by mascot19(op): 11:42pm On Dec 18, 2015
With all the news coming out of the London club revolving around now departed coach, Jose Mourinho and the factors that led to his dismissal, another interesting bit of news is the bust that supposedly took place at the London club’s training ground at Cobham shortly before news about the coach’s departure started to make the rounds.

The fracas allegedly involved several first team and U-21 players, with Cesc Fabregas acting as the major player in the incident. It is alleged that the former Arsenal star put in a heavy tackle on an unnamed U-21 player. The youth player didn’t take it kindly and responded in kind which resulted in a melee that took several minutes to calm down as players from both the senior team and U-21 team got into the scuffle to try and diffuse the tension.

Cesc Fabregas is probably in the worst form of his life. The midfielder just can’t seem to get going this season and his below par form has been one of the major reasons the blues are one point above the relegation zone. When the stats for last season are compared to the ones for the current season, the difference is stark.

He made 18 assists in the league last season which was very close to equaling former Arsenal team mate, Thierry Henry’s record of 20 assists in a season. The Chelsea number 4 only has 2 assists in 16 games this season and has been dropped from the first eleven for recent matches. It will take an unprecedented upturn in form for the midfielder to match the numbers of last season.
