Much as I generally agree with the the OP, I have a few reservations.
Suggesting that we learn to live in Nigeria is not it. On the contrary, Nigeria should learn to accept the Igbos into the Nigerian fold. Since the civil war, we've been more or less treated as outcasts in our supposed country. Despite the Reconciliation, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction mantra, not much has been done in the south east. How many states do the Igbo have as against what others have? Federal presence is virtually non existent in the east. The so-called International airport in Enugu is an obvious joke. Any move to build a sea port in the east is crushed. 2nd Niger bridge nko? There has been a deliberate and studied plan to undermine the south east. U can't keep treating me like a slave and expect me to be happy. Left to me, I would advocate REGIONALISM. Make all man develop at their pace.
Again, if we wanted to split Nigeria, inter-tribal marriages wouldn't have stopped it. Who says you must be in the same country with your inlaws? I have friends with inlaws in Germany, south africa etc.
Nigeria better get her act right. The polity is gradaully boiling. |

fr3do: No one needs your approval to become Igbo A less than 50 years old state creation can not define the Igbos in the west of Igbo land. A man is not more Igbo than a man from Anioma just because he is from the part of Igbo land currently called 'south east nigeria'
To some of my people forming Bini, you can admire a people without claiming you originated there, its even more embarrassing that benin people no even send una, try and get an influential position in Edo and watch how fast you are called Igbo. In the SE there are other subgroups within Igbo, the people still associate themselves with their subgroups but never forget that they are Igbos.
We can all ally and push for our interests or be divided and watch the Fulanis and Yorubas exploit us. Gbam. This your comment straight like cigar |

nonaira: There's no such person in existence.. I googled, binged and even yahoo that name, the only person remotely close to that name is Dino Melaye who is a freaking politician.
Prince Arthur Eze $5.8 Billion, Cletus M. Ibeto $3.7 Billion, Jim Ovia $2.3 Billion, William Uzoma Anumudu $5 billion. Let's not forget Tony Elumelu, ABC Orjiak, Emmanuel Ojei, Akanimo Udofia, Ifeanyi Ubah, Emeka Offor.
Even the top 20 richest Nigerians, there even more Igbo listed than Yoruba. http://www.mytopbusinessideas.com/richest-people-in-nigeria/
The only difference between una and us is the fact, not one single Igbo gives a natural crap about any of this man being rich. As far as most Igbo are concerned, they are irrelevant, most igbo man and woman cares about their own networth and not someone else that happens to be Igbo. You'll never in a billion years see an Igbo use an Igbo man that happens to be rich but it's not him to boost unlike una Yoruba that think being "rich" is now a definition of GOD and una poverty ridden ones shouting louder than the rich ones.
Don't even remotely disturb me again with your stupid1ty again. Mehn! Such venom! |

This is actually good news, from the Igbo perspective. It will remind us that there's no place like home. Outside the east, you'll always be subjected to this kind of thing. Until we stop running to other peoples' regions to setup businesses as if our place is allergic to business, our home will remain under developed. No one is saying u shouldn't have businesses in other places, but u need to at least establish a good proportion of them at home. The federal govt, whether intentionally or not, has refused to register their presence in the south east. Its now left for us to at least build up the east to an extent which I know we can if we put our great minds to it. Onye ajuru aju adighi aju onwe ya. This brings to mind the case of an Igbo woman who sold her 4-storey building for N400, 000 when our northern brothers went on yet another rampage. What a waste. But at least she was able to find a buyer. Others taunted her to carry the house to the south east if she wouldn't sell for ridiculous prices like N80, 000 or N150, 000. But nothing spoil sha. Igbo is on the rise again. Nothing should hold us down. Igbo kwenu! |

hardbody: When i was done with my business in Abuja last friday i flew to my villa through owerri. While drinking out with my guys in the evening, one of whom happened to be a commissioned officer in the Nigerian Army, some guy asked what brought me home. I said i came to review my building project. I also made it clear following enquiries, that the only property i will ever have in Lagos is this one i am living in and even at that, i am mortgaging it soon so if and when the madness starts anyone gloating over an anticipated acquisition of my property will have the banks to contend with. The interesting twist to me was the fact that the officer who should be fully oriented in the indivisibility of Nigeria as an entity was encouraging me and hailing my thoughts. Does the army know something we do not know?
Igbos should start thinking. Nwanne you are so on point with that move. Our brothers should wake up. The times have changed. |
