Umahi is very wrong not Rufai, you can provide an average cost per kilometer in a project. are you saying you wont have a project cost before embarking on the project? please lets not be playing games with serious issues. just like when you ask a local workman, engineer for a cost break down quote they wont want to give because you likely benchmark them. if the minister share his figures it will be a good place to start the conversation. I bet when he leaves office he will just leave a total cost of the project and empty details of the break and cost which is suppose to be public documents, no opportunity for the next guy to continue and learn from their mistake, use as a benchmark or even audit the project

People who do not understand engineering will be quoting figures per kilometer which is wrong. Road estimates are not made per km, it is only a quack or fraudulent engineering that will give you estimates per km. Land and terrains differ and a cost for a particular portion of a road WILL (not may) differ from another portion of the same road.
Now to a coastal highway, there is no where in the world where a contractor engineer will give you estimates of work on a COASTAL HIGHWAY in kilometer. How will you divide it? Will you use the same yardstick for portion on land as portion on the water or even on the same water, their depth and (I lost the word now) are not the same.
VERDICT:
RUFAI was wrong to ask the minister to give estimates per km. Who does that?

Road construction is not rocket science. the materials needed is not infinite and can be list. no head will burst because of calculation. Road construction has always been expensive like other items, even now a village house is in hundreds of million, all effect of devaluation. I wanted to paste the original here before, but after seeing how angry many of them were, I just smiled and moved on.

I was at the towers to return the signed copy of the offer letter on Monday and pick up the introduction letter for my pre-employment medical, I met about 6-10 people waiting there. On the list we filled for before we submitted, my name was number 83. I know many people who got may not be closed to Abuja, so they will probably wait until the deadline to go. Interestingly too, all the people I saw, and the names on my attendance register page were all northerners/muslim except mine.

It's possible this is being done in batches though or we that were called are for a specific location which needs urgent manpower (cos my father-in-law said something like this last month).

In all though, I give glory to God, ur doubts and anger will not take away from me the APL which I already have. I pray as many of us still waiting will get ours soon in Jesus name.

I won't comment on this thread again after this though, too much toxicity
