HIGH CHIEF HIGGINS PETERS, A PILLAR OF RELIABILITY AS HE CONTINUES TO FULFILL PAYMENT OF SALARIES TO TRADITIONAL RULERS IN CROSS RIVER NORTH: Once again Nostalgia and appreciation is spreading across the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State as traditional rulers received yet another batch of payment from High Chief Higgins Peters in fulfillment of his promise to the northern senatorial district traditional institution. This is a clear demonstration that leadership is earned and deserving through integrity and sacrifice and not struggling to be recognized as such. The third phase of the monthly stipend initiative by the natural leader, has been paid to a total of 128 clan heads and the five paramount rulers of their Northern Senatorial District, being payment for three months of May, June and July. This support is paid in arrears of three months. Reacting to this kind gesture, two out of the five paramount rulers, showered unprecedented blessings on High Chief Higgins Peters, describing his gesture as one who truly has the people at heart, “Higgins is not the richest man in Cross River, he’s not in competition with anyone, he’s just a good man with good heart showing deep respect, love, care and affection to his people. He does not owe us or anyone the good things he been doing for the the people of the north. We pray to God to preserve, protect, guide and bless him more and more and increase all that concerns him. We also pray that one day he will come out to contest for something so that the entire north will show him how much we appreciate him. This act of kindness isn’t new to the Natural Leader of the North, it only shows his nature and reflecting the philosophy that defines High Chief Higgins Peters, as a compassionate man, a philanthropist and a helper of destinies. Long live the Emoma, Akpa-Owo of Yala. The Uni Ekpere of Bekwarra Nation.

The Concerned South-South Integrity Forum has called on the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, to urgently intervene in an alleged plan by the Acting Rector of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, Dr Kevin Okonna, to disenroll approximately 100 students over poor academic performance. The group appealed to the minister to halt the proposed action pending a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the students' academic records and the procedures being adopted by the institution. In a statement signed by its President, Initeng Ibongha, and Secretary, Jackbrown Whiteh, the forum expressed concern over reports that the affected students may be withdrawn before the release and consideration of their second-semester results, which ordinarily contribute to their cumulative academic assessment. The group argued that due process, including fair hearing and established academic remedies such as probation and carry-over examinations, should be fully exhausted before any decision on withdrawal is taken. The forum noted that the proposed mass disenrollment could have severe psychological, emotional and financial consequences for both the students and their parents, many of whom have invested substantial resources and time in pursuit of maritime education. It further observed that such a development comes at a time when Nigeria is contending with economic hardship, insecurity, youth unemployment and other social challenges. According to the group, the possibility of a large number of students failing raises legitimate questions about the quality of instruction, the effectiveness of academic supervision and the overall learning environment within the academy. While acknowledging the need to uphold international maritime training standards and maintain academic discipline, the forum maintained that students should not be made scapegoats for systemic shortcomings. It stressed that lecturers and management also have a responsibility to ensure that cadets receive adequate training and academic support to meet required standards. The group warned against what it described as a hurried approach to the matter, saying such action could fuel public suspicion and damage the reputation of the institution. The forum also urged the minister to constitute an independent investigative panel to examine the circumstances surrounding the reported plan, review the academy's academic processes and ascertain whether all statutory procedures have been followed. It called for greater transparency and accountability in the management of the institution, insisting that any student facing withdrawal should be afforded a fair hearing in line with the provisions of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria Act and established academic regulations. According to the group, the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, remains a critical national institution established to produce highly skilled maritime professionals capable of meeting both national and international industry standards. It therefore appealed to the academy's management to adopt measures that balance academic excellence with fairness, compassion and due process, while providing struggling students with opportunities to improve their performance and contribute meaningfully to the growth of Nigeria's maritime sector.

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Dr William Kumuyi, has expressed optimism that Nigeria's leaders and policymakers will receive divine wisdom and act on messages capable of transforming the nation. Kumuyi spoke on Wednesday upon his arrival at the domestic wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, for the June 2026 edition of the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK), themed "Christ's Wonder-Working Power." Addressing Journalists, the cleric said the crusade, which is expected to attract thousands of participants, including government officials and policymakers, would focus on transformation and collective responsibility. Speaking on his expectations for the programme, Kumuyi expressed confidence that God would help leaders embrace ideas that would promote national development. "Sometimes, it is not what you say that people hear, but we are trusting God to make our leaders and policymakers hear what they need to hear. "It is not just about hearing; God will help them to act on what we are all hearing together so that we can make our nation, Africa and the world a better place to live. "God can do it, and we believe He will do it," he said. The internationally acclaimed evangelist noted that the Global Crusade with Kumuyi has grown from a Nigerian outreach initiative into a global movement with a presence across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas and Australia. Reflecting on the impact of the crusade over the past six years, Kumuyi attributed its success entirely to divine intervention rather than human effort. "We are human beings and when we pray, we pray with faith and confidence, but we are not the ones who answer prayers. The answers come from God," he said. According to him, the crusade has recorded numerous testimonies, including transformed lives, restored families, healing of the sick, and rehabilitation of individuals battling drug addiction and mental health challenges. "We have seen lives transformed, young people redirected to the right path, people battling mental health challenges and drug addiction restored, families reunited and the sick healed," Kumuyi added. The cleric further stressed that the outreach continues to expand across different continents, expressing confidence that God would provide solutions to the challenges confronting nations across the world. "As I said, this is God at work. It is not a one-man show. We are planning big, aiming big and trusting God to provide solutions to the many challenges confronting the world," he stated.

Cracks in Arthur Jarvis/Alphonsus Eba's Factional PDP Camp, as Doubt Over Running Mate's Loyalty Grows What was once presented to supporters as a grand political alliance forged in the furnace of shared conviction is increasingly being viewed by insiders as a fragile arrangement held together by little more than public relations glue and mutual convenience. Behind the carefully staged photographs, rehearsed handshakes and declarations of brotherhood, unease is reportedly spreading through the factional state PDP camp like harmattan fire across a dry savannah. Those closest to the governorship candidate are said to be asking uncomfortable questions about loyalty, trust and political dependability. In hushed conversations, some have likened the alliance to inviting a fox to guard a poultry farm and then acting surprised when feathers begin to fly. The concerns, sources say, extend beyond mere political calculations. There is growing irritation over what many describe as an incurable addiction to self-promotion. Party faithful whisper that every discussion somehow circles back to one man's accomplishments, real or imagined. His volubility is said to be legendary, his garrulity inexhaustible, and his pomposity so expansive that it could comfortably occupy an entire campaign podium without leaving room for anyone else. In a camp already struggling to project cohesion, critics complain that arrogance has become both a personality trait and a political philosophy. One insider joked that if elections were won by speeches alone, victory would have been secured years ago and permanently engraved in marble. Yet beneath the satire lies a more serious anxiety: trust. According to a source within the camp, memories remain fresh regarding the alleged political gang-up with the disgraced former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs against former Chief of Staff, Hon. Martins Orim, during his 2023 senatorial aspiration. For many stakeholders, that episode has become a cautionary tale frequently revisited whenever questions of loyalty arise. "Politics is a game of interests," one source remarked, "but there are those who change interests so frequently that even their shadows struggle to keep up with them." It is this lingering suspicion that has reportedly left many of the governorship candidate's kinsmen deeply uncomfortable. To them, the greatest threat may not come from the party in power or rival parties but from the possibility of discovering too late that the enemy was sitting comfortably inside the tent all along. If questions about loyalty have unsettled the camp, questions about political value have caused even greater discomfort. Critics point to what they describe as an inconvenient electoral history. Despite serving as State Chairman of the APC during the 2023 elections and carrying the title of chief political evangelist of the party, he reportedly failed to deliver his senatorial district, lost his local government area, lost his ward and, most humiliatingly, lost his polling unit. For many within the faction, this record has become impossible to ignore. "If a man could not convert his own neighbourhood," a source quipped, "how does he intend to evangelize an entire state?" The question has reportedly echoed through strategy meetings like an unwelcome sermon. Indeed, some stakeholders are said to be privately wondering whether the proposed running mate possesses genuine electoral capital or merely an impressive collection of political titles. In politics, they argue, influence is measured not by the number of microphones one speaks into but by the number of votes one can attract. The growing fear is that the camp may be mistaking noise for strength, verbosity for popularity and visibility for electability. As one observer cynically noted, "A man can trend on every political platform and still fail to win his own street." Against this backdrop, murmurs of a possible placeholder arrangement have become increasingly difficult to dismiss. While no official position has been announced, influential stakeholders are reportedly exploring contingency plans should confidence continue to erode. The calculation appears straightforward: if trust is scarce and electoral value uncertain, then prudence demands alternatives. In private, some supporters reportedly fear that the alliance resembles a vehicle whose passengers are still debating whether the driver actually knows the destination. For now, the factional PDP camp continues to project unity before the cameras. The smiles remain broad, the declarations of solidarity remain loud and the public messaging remains carefully scripted. Yet beneath the polished exterior, doubts persist. The louder the assurances of unity become, some observers note, the more obvious the underlying anxiety appears. After all, truly united camps rarely spend so much time reminding everyone that they are united. Whether these growing cracks widen into a full-blown fracture remains to be seen. But one thing is increasingly clear: the greatest challenge confronting the Arthur Jarvis/Alphonsus Eba alliance may not be the opposition outside its gates. It may well be the mounting questions within its own ranks—questions about loyalty, integrity, electability and political worth. And in politics, unanswered questions have a habit of becoming tomorrow's crises.

Controversy has emerged following the Cross River State rally of Relax Tinubu is Fixing Nigeria held in Calabar over the weekend, as concerns were raised about the alleged sidelining of Honourable Shedrach Egede, the National Director of Strategic Deployment and Implementation of the organization by the Cross River State Cordinator, Engr Anjor Obande. According to sources present at the event, Honourable Egede, a national officer of the movement, occupies a key position with operational structures across the 36 states and the FCT, coordinating grassroots efforts aimed at promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda and the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration. Sources further disclosed that despite reportedly contributing financially to the success of the rally, Honourable Egede was treated merely as an observer throughout the programme. He was allegedly neither recognized during the two major events nor given an opportunity to address participants and supporters from his home state. The sources claimed that the exclusion was deliberate, alleging that Engr. Anjor Obande, the Cross River State Coordinator of the organization, viewed Honourable Egede as a potential rival and sought to maintain her position as the dominant face of Relax Tinubu is Fixing Nigeria within the state and its connection to the national leadership. It was further gathered that during the main event at the Dome, Calabar Municipal Council, the name and official designation of Honourable Shedrach Egede were allegedly not forwarded for recognition, despite efforts by one of his aides to ensure his inclusion in the programme. The development has generated discussions among supporters regarding unity, inclusiveness, and respect for national officers within the organization.

AYADE CAN NOT GO TO THE SENATE AGAIN…. ……He is surplus to requirement: High Chief Higgins Peters As a follow-up to his speech in Ukelle at the reception for Rt. Hon. Dr. Ogana Lukpata, the Deputy Chairman of All Progressives Congress, (APC), High Chief Higgins Peters, the indomitable, bold, courageous and revered natural leader of Cross River North has categorically stated that Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade wanting to go back to the Senate is being unfair to Gov. Prince Bassey Edet Otu and wanting to paint a picture of the Governor not reciprocating to favor he did him. Truth is, a Governor handing over the baton of Governorship to the next is not a favor but a mandate. Donald did handover to Liyel, Liyel sent Ayade to the Senate and again handed over to him, yet, walked away without any demands, so I am wondering why that of Governor Ayade has to be a debt and an emotional blackmail of gratitude. Sen. Prof Ben Ayade is a lucky man and has achieved everything in business and in politics and is only fit now as an elder statesman than going to run for Senate election with people that were his boys. At his level and achievements he shouldn’t put himself into an arena where he would be demystified anymore. Assuming he was given the ticket and won, how does he go to seat in the Senate and call Sen. Eteng jones and Sen. Asuqo Ekpeyong that are his boys, his colleagues? I say this with concern for his integrity and self respect because, I know for sure that the sentiments that were responsible for him losing the election in 2023 has grown worse in the North. I owe him a duty to tell him the truth without reservation because I count him not only a friend but a brother. Meanwhile, I am putting this on public record in the event his enemies continue to push him to run because I have told him this privately. The people of the North through their leaders will appeal to the Governor and the party to give them the opportunity to decide who represents the North either by consensus or primaries, not favors. By extension if Governor Ayade insists he wants to run for Senate, ignoring my candid advice to him, he should be ready to face the people of the North in the primaries or consensus as the case may be. If Governor Ayade chooses the path of honor and does not succumb to his enemies and sycophants that are out to drain him in money and image, he would become the godfather of the North forever. Governor Ayade, is still young, smart, extremely intelligent, very connected, so i believe in my heart that there are better and bigger opportunities for him in the future than going into a race that is not necessary. God bless the good people of Cross River North.

Otu/Odey 2027: The Grassroots Movement Sparking a "Consensus Revolution" in Cross River On April 9, 2026, a powerful new political engine, the Grassroots Initiative for Otu/Odey 2027, officially hit the streets of Cross River State. Led by Awade Friday, the group isn't just asking for votes—they are calling for an unprecedented "political ceasefire" to keep the current winning team in office. The "Unity Over Division" Strategy The core of the message is bold: Consensus. The initiative is appealing to all political parties—including the opposition—to skip the "divisive contests" of the 2027 season. Their logic? The current administration is performing so well that there is "nothing to oppose." Why the Initiative says "Stay the Course": • The Power Duo: The movement heavily praised the "tested loyalty" of Deputy Governor Peter Odey, calling his partnership with Governor Bassey Otu a masterclass in political stability. • Economic Wins: Highlighting the recovery of the Tinapa Business and Resort from AMCON after 14 years and the "noticeable easing" of transport burdens through road rehabilitation. • Award-Winning Leadership: Governor Otu was spotlighted as the reigning Silverbird Man of the Year, proof that the state's progress is being noticed nationally. • The "Silent Heroes": Direct credit was given to Chief Emmanuel Loyalty Ironbar (Chief of Staff) and Barr. Ekpenyong Akiba for keeping the government’s gears turning smoothly. The "Street" Verdict & A Call for Peace The address included handwritten notes emphasizing that "the street will say: Otu too do and Odey dey for you." In a final, heavy-hitting appeal, Awade Friday urged citizens—particularly in the Northern Senatorial District—to choose "brotherhood over revenge" and "wisdom over hatred," aiming to unify the entire state under one banner of continued development. The Bottom Line: This movement is rebranding 2027 not as a battleground, but as a "handshake" across party lines to keep the current momentum alive.

MY EXPERIENCE, YOUR EXPERIENCE, THEIR EXPERIENCE — ONE NAME, ONE REALITY: HIGH CHIEF HIGGINS PETERS, THE NATURAL LEADER OF THE NORTH By Francis Omachi In a region where titles come and go, where power shifts with the tide of elections and alliances, there are a few rare figures whose relevance does not fade with time. Their presence is not tied to office, nor diminished by the absence of it. In Cross River North, one such name stands tall—High Chief Higgins Peters. He is not loud, yet he is heard. Not always seen in the spotlight, yet his imprint is everywhere. In a political environment often crowded with ambition and noise, he has mastered something far more enduring—quiet influence backed by visible results. To call him the Natural Leader of the North is not flattery; it is recognition. It is what people say in rooms where power is negotiated, in communities where decisions matter, and in conversations where the future of the region is weighed. It is a title that has grown organically, shaped by years of consistency, trust, and undeniable impact. A Natural Leader is not announced. He emerges. Not through campaigns or slogans, but through moments—when guidance is needed, when tensions rise, when direction is unclear. In those defining moments, people instinctively look to one person. Not because they are told to, but because experience has taught them where wisdom resides. That is the space High Chief Higgins Peters occupies. While many pursue positions, he has chosen purpose. While others measure success by the offices they hold, his influence is measured by the outcomes he delivers. He does not chase relevance—it follows him. Across Cross River North, his presence is felt in ways that do not always make headlines but shape realities. Roads that reconnect communities. Strategic interventions that unlock opportunities. The renewed attention to legacy assets like the Obudu Mountain Resort. And now, the ongoing construction of the Mfon–Okpoma–Okuku road—an intervention driven by the Governor, but made possible through the timely and decisive push of High Chief Higgins Peters. That road is more than infrastructure. It is access. It is economic revival. It is the difference between isolation and inclusion for communities that have waited too long to be connected. And like many of his contributions, his role did not come with noise or self-praise—just results that speak for themselves. Yet, what truly sets him apart is not just what he does—but how he does it. There is a calm to his leadership. A deliberate, almost surgical approach to decision-making. He listens more than he speaks. Observes more than he reacts. And when he moves, it is with clarity and purpose. In an era where many confuse activity with impact, he remains focused on results that outlast applause. Beyond infrastructure and political coordination, there is a quieter, deeply human side to his leadership—one that many may not see, but countless traditional institutions can attest to. Across the northern senatorial district, High Chief Higgins Peters has taken it upon himself to support and sustain traditional rulers, personally ensuring they are not neglected. In a time where many speak of preserving culture but do little to support its custodians, he has stepped in—consistently, sacrificially—paying stipends and offering support that reinforces the dignity and stability of traditional leadership. It is a gesture that goes beyond politics; it is a commitment to heritage, to structure, and to the very soul of the people. Beyond politics, his footprint in the corporate world tells another story of excellence. As the driving force behind OPAL Networks, he has demonstrated that leadership is not confined to one space. It is a mindset—one that builds, sustains, and elevates. But perhaps his most powerful legacy is not found in infrastructure or boardrooms. It lives in people. Men and women who found direction when they were uncertain. Young individuals whose paths were shaped by a timely intervention. Communities that found a voice through his support. This is why many do not just see him as a leader—they see him as a lifter, a guide, a Destiny Helper in the truest sense of the word. And that kind of influence cannot be manufactured. It is earned—patiently, quietly, over time. In political circles, he remains a stabilizing force. A trusted ally. A strategist whose counsel carries weight even in the most critical moments. He does not seek to dominate the room, yet his perspective often defines its outcome. That is the mark of true power—the kind that does not need to announce itself. To reduce High Chief Higgins Peters to a conventional political figure is to miss the bigger picture. He is not just playing the game; in many ways, he is shaping it. Not through noise or confrontation, but through structure, relationships, and an unshakable commitment to progress. Over time, he has become something more than a man in the arena—he has become a reference point. An institution in his own right. A name that carries weight not because of titles attached to it, but because of the trust it commands. Even beyond the region, his recognition speaks volumes. Honors, acknowledgments, and lasting symbols like “Higgins Peters Close” in Abuja are not just ceremonial—they are reflections of a life that has touched spaces far beyond immediate borders. And still, he moves with the same measured pace. No unnecessary noise. No desperate bids for validation. Just steady, intentional leadership. In the final analysis, leadership is not about occupying space—it is about defining it. It is about leaving things better than you met them, about creating pathways where none existed, and about standing as a pillar when others falter. This is the story many have experienced—personally, collectively, undeniably. High Chief Higgins Peters is not just leading the North—he is defining it. EVERYBODY WANTS A HIGH CHIEF HIGGINS PETERS IN THEIR LIFE.
