Politics › Suspected Gunmen Kill former Ondo APC Youth Leader, Fisayo Oladipo by MasterJayJay(op): 5:12pm On Jan 06, 2025
Tragedy struck in wee hours of Monday in Ondo, as Fisayo Oladipo, a former youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owo, was killed by suspected gunmen believed to be cultists.

The incident occurred in the Owo local government area of Ondo.

Oladipo, 52, was a well-known figure in the community, and his death has sent shockwaves throughout the region.

The circumstances surrounding the attack are still unclear, but it’s reported that his remains have been moved to a morgue.

The killing has sparked tension in Owo, prompting security agencies to deploy personnel to maintain peace and prevent any potential unrest. This incident is the latest in a series of violent attacks in the region, including an alleged cult clash that left two people dead.

The commander of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), also confirmed the incident to newsmen, saying the tense atmosphere in the town has been calm following the heavy deployment of armed security agencies.

“I can only confirm that we have sent our men down to also assist other security agencies deployed to calm the atmosphere. Our men are on the ground with heavy deployment. I will advise we wait for officials’ reactions,” the NSCDC boss told The Gazette.

I can only speak for my area. My feeder is ukwa 33. Light only comes at night and they take it by 6am.

Few areas do have better supply than ours.

The fact is that with all the hype about Abapower commissioning a powerplant, we thought things could have improved much better. But that's not the case.

Abapower is still getting most of its supply from another GENCO.

The increment is much. I used to pay 70 naira and they have increased it to 180 naira.

The band classification is even wrong for our side. Ukwa 33 should be Band E. But they deliberately classified it under band c.

5,000 naira gave me 65.8 kWh on December. So if I want to buy 65.8kwh today, I have to pay 11,844 naira.

Na to adjust seriously. No more ceiling fan, heat no go kill me.

Politics › Fear Grips Lagos Community As Three Killed In Cult Clashes by MasterJayJay(op): 8:28am On Jan 06, 2025
Three persons were feared killed in a clash involving some hoodlums in the Mushin area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the clash, which occurred as a result of a longstanding feud between two rival groups, resurged on Friday, December 27, in the Paul Oguntola area of the community.

It was gathered that members of a gang identified as Kesari boys were returning from a carnival when a rival group also identified as Idi Araba boys ambushed them on the way.

This was said to have resulted in a clash between them, leading to the death of a member of the Kesari group.

A resident in the community who spoke to our correspondent on Saturday on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the incident said some vehicles in the area were also vandalised during the clash.

“We woke up on Thursday morning to see some of the vehicles on the street vandalised and that was when we realised that it was during a fight between the Kesari and Idi Araba boys. The vehicles affected were up to 20 and most of their windshields were broken. This fight has been ongoing for a long time but the last was when a member of the gang was killed about three months ago. So, we were told this was a reprisal on the other group. We also saw the corpse of the one who was killed with matchet cuts on his face.”

Another resident who identified herself as Adebisi told our correspondent that the aggrieved gang members returned to the community on Thursday night to vandalise more vehicles in the area.

She said, “The boys threatened to return the following night and they made real their threat by returning to the community on Thursday night to vandalise more vehicles. Some of the vehicles that were fixed after the clash the previous night were vandalised again. As we speak, there is panic in some areas in Mushin.”

In a video seen by our correspondent, some of the residents were seen lamenting over the vandalised vehicles, while the deceased victim was seen lying on the ground in a separate video.”

It was gathered that pockets of clashes were also recorded at Kosobameji, Adeyemi and Cardoso areas of the community where two other persons were reportedly killed with another person’s hand severed in the process.

Meanwhile, residents have lamented that the activities of the groups have led to an increase in theft and burglary in the community.

One of the residents who identified himself simply as Adewale said“The Kesari boys usually converge at the Mushin market before moving out in groups to cause trouble, but what is more worrisome is the robbery activities they engage in. Some people were robbed on the day they clashed at Paul Oguntola.

These are people who were going to the mosque and their place of work early in the morning. We want the police to do what is needed. They appear overwhelmed by the activities of the boys.”

The Area Commander of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Abiodun Vincent who spoke to PUNCH Metro said two suspects were apprehended during the clashes.

He said, “Two suspects were arrested after being caught trying to remove a bullet from the body of one of their gang members. We work hand in hand with the police to ensure they were apprehended.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, could not be reached as calls to his telephone line were not responded to. A text message sent to him had yet to be responded to as of the time this report was filed.

Crime › Frank Larry Matthew: The druglord that disappeared since 1973 by MasterJayJay(op):
Frank Larry Matthews (February 13, 1944 – disappeared June 26, 1973), also known as Black Caesar, Mark IV and Pee Wee, was an American drug trafficker and crime boss who sold heroin and cocaine throughout the eastern United States from 1965 to 1972. He operated in 21 states and supplied drug dealers throughout every region of the country. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) ranks Matthews as one of the top ten drug traffickers in U.S. history and he is estimated to have had US$20 million in savings.

Coxson, who then sold it to the Black Mafia.

Matthews purchased a house in the Mafia enclave in Todt Hill, Staten Island,at 7 Buttonwood Rd, it was 3 blocks away from Gambino family boss Paul Castellano, who lived on Benedict Rd. Matthews would take multiple trips to Las Vegas with suitcases full of cash to have his drug money laundered at casinos for a fee of 15–18%.

In 1971, Matthews invited major African-American and Hispanic drug traffickers throughout the country to attend a meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, to discuss means of importing heroin without Mafia involvement. The DEA became aware of the meeting and monitored who attended. Those present decided to build stronger independent relationships with the Corsican Mafia and possibly the Cuban Mafia. In addition, they agreed to diversify their product to include cocaine, which was becoming available in massive quantities.

The Atlanta meeting was significant because it underscored the changing nature of the drug business. Whereas previously the American Mafia controlled the importing and wholesaling of narcotics, therefore controlling who could and could not advance past them, now others were establishing their own pipelines. Before, the Mafia asserted behind-the-scenes control of the business while African-Americans sold and used the drugs in their cities; now the black dealers established connections and took control of their neighborhoods. This later evolved to include not just black people controlling the business, but also local black gangs eliminating out-of-town black suppliers trying to control their neighborhoods from a distance.

Matthews' clashes with the Philadelphia Black Mafia resulted in bloodshed on Easter Sunday 1972, when Tyrone "Mr. Millionaire" Palmer, Matthews' main dealer in Philadelphia, was killed in a gunfight at an Atlantic City nightclub. Many innocent bystanders were shot during the gunfight, with five people killed and twenty-six injured. No one was prosecuted for the crime and none of the 799 potential witnesses came forward. Three of Matthews' top lieutenants were also murdered by the Black Mafia.

Later in 1972, Matthews held another summit in Las Vegas at the Sands Hotel during the Muhammad Ali vs. Jerry Quarry boxing rematch. Soon afterward, police received authority to tap Matthews' phone lines. resulting in recordings of Matthews discussing drug transactions.

Ernie "Coco" Coralluzzo, an associate of the Genovese crime family's Greenwich Village Crew, negotiated the sale of 40 kilograms of heroin to Matthews for $375,000 during a meeting at the Waldorf Astoria New York in April 1973. While Matthews delivered the fee via an intermediary the following day, Coralluzzo failed to provide the drugs and instead fled to the Bahamas. Matthews and his associates then kidnapped James "Big Jimmy" Capotorto, an underling and bodyguard to Coralluzzo, in an effort to retrieve the money. Upon hearing of the kidnapping, Coralluzzo took a flight back to New York, returned the $375,000 to Matthews and gave him 25 kilograms of heroin on consignment.

Arrest and disappearance

A wanted poster issued by the DEA
In December 1972, Matthews was indicted by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn for attempting to sell 40 pounds of cocaine in Miami, Florida, between April and September 1972. In January 1973, the DEA arrested Matthews at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, ahead of a planned trip to Los Angeles with his girlfriend, on charges of tax evasion and conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine. A federal magistrate originally set bail at $5 million, the highest bail amount ever set at the time. Bail was reduced to $2.5 million when Matthews agreed to not fight extradition to New York.

After a few weeks in detention in New York, Matthews' bail was further reduced to $325,000. He was indicted on six counts of tax evasion and conspiracy to distribute heroin and cocaine and faced 50 years in prison. On July 2, 1973, Matthews was scheduled to appear in a Brooklyn courthouse but never showed. He allegedly took $20 million and fled the country with his girlfriend. Matthews left behind his common-law wife, their three sons and their Staten Island mansion and was never seen again.

Former DEA agent Frank Panessa stated in a July 2022 interview that the agency received unconfirmed reports that Matthews had been lured to the Bahamas by the Genovese family and killed, partly to keep him from turning state's witness and partially due to his feud with Coralluzzo.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) placed a $20,000 reward for Matthews, the highest set by a federal agency since the Bureau placed the same amount for the capture of bank robber John Dillinger.

If you believe that my village got no toilet, it still doesn't change that my village is in Nigeria too.

So it's basically Nigeria vs Brazil.

So why should you be mocking saner climes when a village in your country celebrated installation of toilet after 183 years?
