Politics › Nigerian Soldier Supports August 1 Protest Of #endbadgovernanceinnigeria by MasterJayJay(op): 3:21pm On Jul 19, 2024
The soldier lamented that they in the military are already tired of the bad government but they cannot come out and protest like civilians, stressing that civilians have the constitutional right and power to protest against bad government.

A Nigerian soldier, who did not disclose his identity has called on Nigerians to come out en masse and peacefully protest against bad governance in the country, assuring that no military officer would dare to shoot at peaceful protesters.

The soldier who made the call and gave the assurance in a voice note making the rounds on social media said that ahead of the planned nationwide protest in August against bad governance in Nigeria, the military has an undisclosed plan to protect the protesting civilians and that any military officer who dares to fire at the protesters will explain where he or she is from.

The soldier lamented that they in the military are already tired of the bad government but they cannot come out and protest like civilians, stressing that civilians have the constitutional right and power to protest against bad government.

Assuring that soldiers will not shoot at protesters even if they are ordered to do so, the soldier said, “The security agents at where protesters are should protect them. The arms they are carrying are not to kill the protesters. All of us are tired.

“In this country now, civilians are even the ones that have a say. You civilians, you have the right to tell the government what you want but we in the military cannot do that. Anybody that is coming out to protest should come to protest peacefully.

“You don’t even know the plan we in the military have. Let us see any military man that will fire anybody who is just protesting against bad government. He will tell us where he is from.”

SaharaReporters had reported that Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, unveiled a list of 15 critical demands from Nigerians as part of the upcoming 'Days of Rage' protest.

The protest, tagged #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria, aims to address the country's governance challenges.

According to Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), the demands were compiled from inputs received from Nigerians participating in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria campaign.

The demands are directed at President Bola Tinubu's administration and are considered non-negotiable by the protesters.

The 'Days of Rage' protests, scheduled for late July to August 2024, have been preceded by the demands published by Sowore on his X account.

Reacting to the message of the military source on Thursday, Sowore said, “A military mind reset, this military guy is pleading with #DaysOfRage protesters, saying they are “tired” and that they won't carry out any order to shoot at protesters.”

Politics › Day Of Rage Protest: Sowore Releases 14 Key Demands From Tinubu by MasterJayJay(op): 3:06pm On Jul 19, 2024
The demands come ahead of the planned 'Days of Rage' protests, scheduled to take place from late July to August 2024.

Omoyele Sowore, the convener of #RevolutionNow, has released a list of 14 demands from Nigerians to President Bola Tinubu's administration, aimed at addressing the country's governance challenges.

The demands, published on Sowore's social media account, are a result of inputs from Nigerians participating in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria campaign. The demands come ahead of the planned 'Days of Rage' protests, scheduled to take place from late July to August 2024.

He said, “So far, these are the commonest but fundamental demands from those who have responded to pursuing a general set of DEMANDs to #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria for the Days of Rage revolt scheduled for the end of July until August 2024.”

According to Sowore, the 14 demands are:

“1. Scrap the 1999 Constitution and replace it with a People-made CONSTITUTION for the Federal Republic of Nigeria through a Sovereign National Conference to be immediately followed by a National Referendum.

“2. Toss the Senate arm of the Nigerian Legislative System, keep the House of Representatives (HOR), and make lawmaking a part-time endeavour.

“3. Pay Nigerian Workers a minimum wage of nothing less than N250,000 monthly.

“4. Invest heavily in education and give Nigerian students grants, not loans. Aggressively pursue free and compulsory education for children across Nigeria.

“5. Release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally and demilitarize the South East.

“6. Renationalise publicly owned enterprises sold to government officials and cronies.

“7. Reinstate a corruption-free subsidy regime to reduce hunger, starvation and multidimensional poverty.

“8. Probe past and present Nigerian leaders who have looted the treasury, recover their loot, and deposit it in a special account to fund education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

“9. Restructuring of Nigeria to accommodate Nigeria’s diversity, resource control, decentralisation and regional development.

“10. Reforms of Security Agencies to stop continuous human rights violations and duplication of security agencies and enhance the physical security of Nigerian citizens.

“11. Establish a Special Energy Fund immediately to drive massive, corruption-free power sector development.

“12. Immediate Reconstitution of the Nigerian Electoral Body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove corrupt individuals and partisan hacks appointed to manipulate elections.

“13. Massive investment in public works and industrialisation will help employ Nigeria’s teeming youths.

“14. Massive shake-up in the Nigerian judiciary to remove cabals of corrupt generations of judges and judicial officers that continue denying everyday citizens access to real justice.”

Sowore has declared the 'Days of Rage' protests to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the 2019 #RevolutionNow demonstration. He is urging nationwide mobilisation and calling for people to join the movement.

Chill bros, I specifically mentioned mikano generators because it is regarded as a noiseless generator, those of us who doesn't mind the noise uses, single cylinder, 20kw Chinese generators, it only consumes 25litres for 16 hours, 25litres x 1150 gives 28750, solar is even cheaper, this government is a ripoff
Focus on the calculation and forget about government.

20kw chinese gen generates how many kw per hour?

Then compare that to kwh provided by Disco in 16 hours.

I don't work for something that doesn't generate profit.
Nigeria is wasting money on National assembly, it should be scrapped to save cost of governance.

Federal government approved 90 billion naira for some people to go to Saudiarabia to stone the devil.

While they approved 50kg rice of 440,000 bags to be shared among 36 states and capital. A 50 kg bag of rice is around 70,000 naira. 440,000 bags will be 30.8 billion naira.

Your analysis is absolutely correct, a 20kva mikano generator consumes 60 litres in 16 hours, powering a combined power of around 13kw, running such factory, under band A, and consuming such power, will almost certainly top the generator
Nigerians would have ported to solar, since it is now the cheapest, but the problem is that the government had so impoverished Nigerians to the extent that they can't afford porting to solar, Nigerians earning power and affordability index had so much lowered that the #18000 minimum wage of Jonathan, the equivalent of #250000 of today is being denied them by the demonic apc government.
60 liters of diesel in 16 hours is 60 times 1,150 naira = 69,000 Naira.

13Kwh for 16 hours with DISCO = 13Kwh times 16 hours = 208kwh.

208kwh times 209.50 naira = 43,576 naira.

How is 69,000 naira cheaper than 43,576 naira?

Does that mean it's right?
What is right? You have not asked any question.

Food is not cheap, but Nigerians are eating food.
Cooking gas is not cheap but poor people are evening using gas to cook.

The point is not paying 24/7 power supply. Nobody pays for 24/7 food, you pay when you eat not for every hour.

The point is for electricity to be available so that at any point anyone needs it they can. If the poor wants to charge his phone at midnight, he should and if the rich wants to power his 10 AC rooms he should.

Electricity is paid by usage, not by 24/7.

Like is 105 per kWh ooh from zone B down

If you use 2kva that's 210 per our lol
Show me one person that refuses to off the generator when NEPA brings light, because generator is cheap according to you.

You don't even understand kwh. There is an electrician nearby here that repairs electronics. The soldering equipment is rated 20watts, which is the major tool that he uses. But he has a generator that produces 20 times more energy than he needs. He is wasting money buying expensive to petrol to power a generator that produces 20 times than what he needs. If he's on prepaid meter, 216kwh will still be cheaper than generator.

Generator is cheaper na than having national grid

How is this concept difficult to understand

It is because we have millions of people who spend 20k and above on data that MTN can provide data for people who spend 200 a month

If all of us spend 200 MTN would fold

In Nigeria people who can spend 200k already have power 24/7

50 million can give u 24/7 light that's mere 30k dollars with solar

20k dollars can give you even but u have to manage it well
Generator is cheaper because petrol is 10 naira a liter? You love to create your own fantasy that is not built on facts.

It's like depending on Nitel to give you power

MTN came because Nigerians where rich enough to buy them in substantial amount

For me to invest in power I need a concentration of Nigerians who can pay 200k per month for light

And we both know such places already have 247 like in Nigeria
Who are those using generators?
Right now, I can hear sounds of generators from a barbing saloon, an embroidery shop. They have been complaining about high cost of petrol. Petrol with generator and DISCO, which is cheaper?

Your SWOT analysis is built on wrong foundation.

It is like saying that Nigeria is too poor to have 24 hours internet connection.

Poor person dey buy data of 200mb to satisfy his needs, rich man dey buy starlink to satisfy his needs.

Poor man dey make phone call 1 minute. Rich man dey make international phone call for hours.

The point is accessbility at any point one needs the service.
Nigeria currently needs around 30,000-40,000 megawatts.
