MufasaLion: People will decamp, show grievances, wail, etc., but eventually, emotions won't win you elections, reality will.
With the noise about Tinubu's forgery allegations, drug etc., he still went ahead to choose a Muslim as his VP. Shettima wasn't just a Muslim but someone with allegations leveled against him by the people also. Who won? Tinubu!
I still stand on my analysis that Obi, Atiku and others will form alliance if they want to win. They need to put their individual interests aside and be one big force!
2019 is not 2023. 2027 will also be different from 2023. Reality is that many in southeast won't vote for PDP if Obi is not PDP candidate. You are not on ground here in southeast so you have nn clue on what the voters priority is. |

MufasaLion: Learn to read and understand.
The last election, Atiku, Obi and Kwankwnaso had more votes combined than Tinubu. Now, imagine if Atiku and Obi form an alliance. Politics is beyond anybody forming a bigger person. It's about using the available best resources to achieve your aim, which was what Tinubu did. He used the north to his advantage.
The three opposition candidates mentioned above couldn't defeat Tinubu as a private citizen. You think it would be easier to now defeat him individually as a sitting president?
Politics is a calculated risk. You need to be beyond book-smart or morally smart. You need polical smartness. You have no idea that many people that voted for Obi in 2023 won't vote for Atiku in 2027 if Obi decides to be his running mate. Voters have their own priorities. You have not factored that in, hence your analysis is wrong. |

He can't win Tinubu in any election, even if it's conducted monthly. Align how? 2019, when he aligned with Atiku, why didn't PDP win? Is the destiny of Atiku tied to Obi? |

Politics › Zamfara Bandits Kill 4, Kidnap 150, Including Babies by MasterJayJay(op): 10:05am On Jul 16, 2024 |
Bandits have killed four people and abducted 150 others, including two babies aged six and eight months in an attack on Dan Isa village, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State on Sunday.
Dan Isa is situated less than 14 kilometres from Gusau, the state capital.
The attack happened just a week after 46 residents of Dogon Kade were released by bandits, following alleged payment of N21 million ransom.
A resident of Dan Isa, whose wife and son were abducted, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust.
The resident, who pleaded anonymity, said the bandits stormed the village around 3pm on Sunday, operating for six hours.
According to him, the bandits arrived on about 150 motorbikes, each carrying three people, and began shooting sporadically, causing residents to flee for safety
“My wife, Na’imah and our six-month-old child, Sudais, were among the victims. My brother’s wife, Aisha, and her eight-month-old child were also abducted. Several women and children were taken during the attack,” he said.
Another resident, Muhammad Auwal (not his real name), recounted that Hajiya Rakiya, wife of Wamban Dan Isa, Alhaji Bello Halilu, was abducted, and other women were injured in Mr. Halilu’s house.
Two wives of Wamban Dan Isa’s younger brother, Malama Luba and Malama Talatu, were also kidnapped, he added.
“I also learnt that Malam Musa Ajiya was among the people that escaped from the bandits but four women including his wife, Suwaiba, and the wife of Shafi’u, his younger brother, were all abducted in his residence,” he said.
Aminu Bello Dan Isa, another resident, said that the attack was carried out by a gang led by a notorious bandit called Alhaji Shehu Bagiwa.
Though sources said Bagiwa did not participate in the heinous act directly, escaped women reported seeing his lieutenant, Aminu Baka-da-dadi, leading the operation.
“Some women who escaped returned with fractured legs and various injuries, having been beaten by the bandits in the bush before they managed to flee,” Dan Isa added.
The village has since been deserted, with residents relocating to places like Kasuwar Daji, Rawayya, Gyambarawa, and Gusau, due to fear of further attacks.
Dan Isa village had faced repeated bandit attacks over the past five years, resulting in numerous deaths and abductions. Residents appealed to the government for assistance, urging the deployment of soldiers to the area.
They stressed the need to eliminate bandits, especially notorious ones such as Bagiwa and Baka-da-dadi.
“We need more security personnel around us otherwise we will not go back to the village,” Aminu Bello said.
“Previously, we had soldiers in the village but since they were taken to another place, the bandits returned to the area, attacking us almost all the time.
“The bandits are heartless and merciless human beings. Once they are eliminated, things will normalise in the area; they are our problem in this part of the state,” he said.
No information yet – Police commissioner
When contacted, the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Shehu Dalijan, said the police had not received information about this specific attack.
However, he confirmed five attacks in Gusau last week, with 11 people abducted.
He said police killed some bandits in Damba, on the outskirts of Gusau, on Sunday, while foiling a banditry operation.
Dalijan assured that security had been increased in the state capital, with 54 patrol vehicles deployed for surveillance.
He appealed to the public to provide the police useful information to help combat banditry in the state.
Our correspondent reports that the men of the underworld have upped their attacks on many communities in Zamfara State.
This newspaper had reported on Monday, how bandits recently abducted many people in different communities of Zurmi LGA in the state.
The bandits imposed almost N150 million as levies on several communities, saying residents must contribute and that amount before they would be allowed to access their farmlands.
The affected villages and the levies imposed on them are: Yan Dolen Kaura, N15 million; Gidan Zagi, N15 million; Kanwa, N20 million; Kaiwa Lamba, N26 million; Gidan Dan Zara, N22 million; Jinkirawa, N16 million; Dumfawa, N16 million; Ruguje, N7 million; Babani, N3 million and Gidan Duwa, N4 million.
The residents of the villages said they were under pressure to raise those funds within the period specified by the bandits.
It was gathered that some villages have paid their levies, while others are scrambling to gather the required amounts.
A resident of Zurmi town, Malam Yunusa Musa, told Daily Trust that the levies are effective from this week. https://dailytrust.com/bandits-kill-4-abduct-150-in-zamfara/

They made it 25kg so it would appear that it's big
Let's use the normal size which is 50kg. The 1,200 bags of 25kg will be 600 bags of 50kg rice.
Modified: I forgot to add number of trucks 600 bags of 50kg times 20 = 12,000 bags 12,000 bags for 1 state, that's for 12,000 families. 12,000 families times 36 states (plus Abuja) = 444,000 families to benefit out hundreds of millions.
774 local government to share 444,000 bags of 50kg rice. Each LG to get 573 bags. |

"Each of the trucks of course is carrying about 1,200 25kg bags of rice," the minister said.
The federal government says it has donated about 20 trucks of rice to each of Nigeria’s 36 states and Abuja as part of measures to cushion the country’s food crisis.
Information Minister Mohammed Idris disclosed this in Abuja on Monday while briefing State House reporters at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting.
“Each of the trucks of course is carrying about 1,200 25kg bags of rice,” Mr Idris said. “This is part of the measures that the government is taking in addition to so many others to ensure that the hardship being experienced by Nigerians is drastically ameliorated.”
The minister said the bags of rice are expected to be distributed to vulnerable Nigerians by the state governments.
“…each of the state governments has received 20 trucks of rice for onward distribution to the most vulnerable. This is a first step and the federal government will continue to support all the state governors and local governments, all the subnationals, so that the hardship being experienced by most Nigerians in terms of shortage of food supply is breached,” he said.
Background Nigerians have been grappling with a cost of living crisis since President Bola Tinubu announced the removal of subsidies on petrol last year.
The price of basic foods has tripled in some cases, with a 50-kg bag of rice rising from about N20,000 to over N60,000.
Monday’s announcement comes a few days after the government approved the duty-free importation of major food items like rice, beans, and wheat.
However, some Nigerians, including Akinwunmi Adesina of the African Development Bank, have criticised the food importation policy.
He warned that the policy could undermine all the hard work and private investments that have gone into Nigeria’s agriculture sector.
“Nigeria cannot rely on the importation of food to stabilise prices. Nigeria should be producing more food to stabilise food prices while creating jobs and reducing foreign exchange spending that will further help stabilise the Naira,” Mr Adesina said.
On Monday, Mr Idris said the move is a first step towards addressing food inflation in the country and that the federal government will continue to support all the state governors and local governments, to address the hardship experienced by most Nigerians in terms of the shortage of food supply.
“It is expected that the state governors will go ahead and distribute this food item to the most vulnerable. So that the hardship like I said has been experienced will be brought down significantly,” the Minister said.
He recalled that the Central Bank of Nigeria had earlier made available over 2.1 million bags of assorted fertiliser to the Ministry of Agriculture for onward distribution to the states.
“So that is also in progress,” he added, stating that the federal government will do everything they can to ensure that Nigerians have more food for consumption.
“Investments in the agricultural sector are ramped up and you also know that the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development that was announced by Mr President, will also take off very soon,” Mr Idris said. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/713757-updated-food-crisis-fg-donates-20-trucks-of-rice-to-each-state-abuja-minister.html
