lease can someone suggest where I can get an halal loan with no interest of like 400k to expand business? Allah has made it haram to collect interest based loan. Muslim narrated (1598) that Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba and the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the two who witness it, and he said: they are all the same. And the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “A dirham of riba that a man consumes knowingly is worse before Allah than thirty-six acts of zina (adultery). We've been serving Lagos Ibadan and Ogun State for 4 years now. We've successfully deployed our toilets at numerous weddings, birthdays, burials, and other notable organizations like churches, schools, and Lagos state government. The quantity of toilets we rent per event depends on the expected number of people but at in the least, we do a minimum of two units (a pair) of toilet per event; one male, one female. You will also be smiling to the bank every year or everytime an exhibition is organized. You can also effortlessly earn some good commission once, twice or thrice weekly if you know any open field in your area that people rent for events Remember, its Three thousand Naira (N3000) commission (per pair of toilet) for every referral that patronises us the first time, and two thousand Naira (N2000) every other time that same client patronises us (per pair of toilet). In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (Say) O Muhammad to the people of Mecca: (This) the religion of Abraham (is my Way) my religion: (I call on Allah with sure knowledge) with a firm religion and exposition, (I) call on Allah (and whosoever followeth me) they believe in me and also call on Allah with sure knowledge. (Glory be to Allah!) he exonerates Allah from having a son or partner (And am not of the idolaters) I am not with the idolaters in following their religion. Q12 V108 (We sent not before thee) O Muhammad, any messengers (save men whom We inspired) We send Gabriel to them as We sent him to you (from among the folk of the townships) they were related to townships like you. (Have they) the people of Mecca (not travelled in the land and seen) and reflect on (the nature of the consequence for) how was the end result of (those who were before them) among the disbelievers? (And verily the abode of the Hereafter) Paradise, (for those who ward off (evil)) ward off disbelief, idolatry and indecencies and instead believe in Allah, Muhammad (pbuh) and the Qur'an, (is best. Have ye then no sense?) do you not have the common sense to realise that the Hereafter is better than the life of this world; it is also said that this means: have you then no sense to realise that the life of this world is evanescent while the Hereafter is everlasting; it is also said that this means: do you not believe in that which befell the people of old as a result of their disbelief in the messengers? Q12 V109 Allah orders His messengers to say to mankind and the Jinns that there Is no diety worthy of worship except Allah alone, without partners. The messenger called to this testimonial with sure knowledge, certainty and firm evidence. He called to this way, and those who followed him call to what Allah’s messenger called to with sure knowledge, certainty and evidence, whether logical or religious evidence. Islam holds fast to the one central fact in the spiritual world – the unity of Allah, and all reality springing from Him and Him alone. There can be no one and nothing in competition with that One and Only reality. It is the essence of truth. All other ideas or existence, including our perception of self, are mere relative – mere projection from the wonderful faculties which he has given us. This is not to us mere hypothesis. It is in our inmost experience. In the physical world, they say that seeing is believing. In our inner world, this sense of Allah is as clear as sight in the physical world. Therefore, Al Mustafa and those who really follow him in the truest sense of the word call all the world to see this truth, feel this experience, and follow this way. The only one true way – AL ISLAM. Prayer: Oh Allah! I beg of thee perfect and lasting peace, and that I may be grateful for it, and I bef of thee freedom from need towards others; there is no ability or strength in me except with Your help. Amin! In the name of Allah, Most Gracious Most Merciful (This) that which I mentioned to you, O Muhammad, of the story of Joseph and his brothers (is of the tidings of the Unseen) of the events which were hidden from you (which We inspire in thee Muhammad)) with which We send Gabriel to you. (Thou wast not present with them when they bed their plan) when they agreed to throw Joseph in the well (and they were scheming) they were intending by this the peril of Joseph (as) Q12 V102 Allah narrated to Muhammed (SAW), the story of Yusuf (as) and his brothers and how Allah raised him over them, giving him the better end of triumph, the sovereignty and wisdom of prophethood, even though they tried to harm and hill him. The holy Prophet (SAW) was no actor in those scenes; yet by inspiration, he was able to expound them in the divine light, as they had never been expounded before. And allegorically they figured his own story – how his own brethren sought to betray and kill him, how by Allah’s providence he was not only saved, but he won through. I am quite sure, there is a story of Yusuf (as) to tell in all of our lives. When a certain colleague conspire with others to see you sacked from your place of employment unjustly, that is your story of Yusuf (as). Many times, Allah will give better employment and opportunities. When your stepmother decides there is no way you could remain under the same roof with her, and engineered your eviction, that is your story of Yusuf (as). Such evicted step-children had been known to be highly successful. Pray therefore for that your enemies or situations that befall you will pursue you to victory. Prayer: Oh Allah! Make me fully agreeable to thy decree, and add thy blessing to what thou hast decreed for me till I would not like to hasten what thou hast delayed, and to delay what thou chooses to hasten. Amin! In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (O my Lord! Thou hast given me (something) of sovereignty) you gave me the sovereignty of Egypt which spreads over an area of forty parasangs by forty parasangs (and hast taught me (something) of the interpretation of events) the interpretation of dreams, (Creator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my Protecting Friend) You are Lord, Creator, Provider, Protector and Helper (in the world and the Hereafter. Make me to die submissive (unto Thee)) in my worship and confession of monotheism, (and join me to the righteous) join me in Paradise with the messengers among my forefathers. Q12 V 101 The plan of Allah works irresistibly, and sweeps away all their machinations. The good wins through in the end, but not so for the devilish, as their evil plots are foiled; and often their very plots help the good. With every character in the story, the plan of Allah doth work without fail: it defeats the vile of the wicked, turns evil to good, and ever lead those who are good to beatitudes undreamt of. Will man then not learn to rely on Allah as the only reality, turning away from all that is fleeting or untrue? Prayer: Oh Allah! I ask you for your love and the love of those who love you, and for the love of every action which will bring me closer to your love. |
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (And when they came in before Joseph, he took his parents unto him) he joined to him his father and stepmother, for his own mother was dead by then, (and said: Come into) dwell in (Egypt safe) from the enemies and from hunger, (if Allah will!) if Allah wills, you stay in Egypt safe from your enemies and hunger. Q12 V99 (And he placed his parents on the dais) on an elevated platform (and they fell down before him prostrate) i.e. his parents and brothers fell prostrate before him. This prostration was a sign of greeting between them: the person of humble standing prostrated to the person of high standing, the youth to the elderly and the young to the old; it is a slight bowing as is known among non-Arabs, (and he said: O my father! This) prostration (is the interpretation of my dream of old. My Lord hath made it true, and He hath shown me kindness, since He took me out of the prison) and saved me from slavery (and hath brought you from the desert after Satan had made strife between me and my brethren) through resentful envy. (Lo! my Lord is tender unto whom He will) my Lord is tender in that He brought us together. (He is the Knower) of that which has befallen us, (the Wise) in separating and then bringing us together. Q12 V100 Yaqub (as) was comforted when he got the news that his sons were alive, and the whole family moved to Egypt, where Yusuf (as) received them with honour. To show his high respect for his parents, he made them sit on a throne of dignity. On the other hand, his parents and brothers all performed the ceremony of prostration before Yusuf (as) in recognition of his supreme rank in Egypt under the Fir’awn. And thus was fulfilled the dream of his youth. Yusuf (as) forgave his brothers thanked and praised Allah. Yusuf (as) was modest throughout. The first thing he thought of among Allah’s gracious favours on him were (1) that he was brought out of prison and publicly proclaimed to be honest and virtuous, and (2) that his dear father was reunited with him, as well as the brothers who persecuted him all his life. He would say nothing against them personally. In his characteristic habit of interpreting everyone and everything in the most favourable and charitable light, he looked upon his brothers as having been misled. It was Satan that set them against him, he said. But now all is rectified by the grace of Allah, to whom he rendered his praise. Prayer: Oh Allah! Do not leave me to myself for the twinkling of an eye and do not deprive me of any good thing which thou hast already bestowed on me. Amin! |
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (He said) Joseph said to them: (Have no fear this day!) he says: I will not reproach you today. (May Allah forgive you) for what you did, (and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy) He is more merciful than one's own parents. Q12 V92 (Go with this shirt of mine) and his shirt was from Paradise (and lay it on my father's face, he will become (again) a seer) he will regain his sight; (and come to me with all your folk) they were about seventy people. Q12 V93 (Then, when the bearer of glad tidings came) i.e. Judah carrying the shirt, (he laid it on his face and he became a seer once more) he regained his sight. (He said) to his children and grandchildren: (Said I not unto you that I know from Allah that which ye know not?) did I not tell you that Joseph is still alive? Q12 V96 |
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (And when they came (again) before him (Joseph)) a third time (they said: O ruler! Misfortune) hunger (hath touched us and our folk, and we bring but poor merchandise) merchandise which is not suitable for buying food, but are suitable for spending on people; it is also said that this means: merchandise that one can get in the mountains such as pine nuts and the fruit of the terebinth-tree; it is also said that this means: Arab merchandise such as dried lumps of cheese, wool, cheese and ghee, (so fill for us the measure) give us our measure as you would give if we had good money (and be charitable unto us) in regards to difference in the two prices; it is also said that this means: in regards to difference in the two measures. (Lo! Allah will requite the charitable) in the life of this world and in the Hereafter. Q12 V88 (He said) Joseph said to them: (Know ye what ye did unto Joseph and his brother in your ignorance) when you were ignorant youth? Q12 V89 (They said: Is it indeed thou who art Joseph? He said: I am Joseph and this is my brother) my full brother. (Allah hath shown us favour) by bestowing patience upon us. (Lo! he who wardeth off (evil)) in times of blessing (and endureth) in times of hardship finds favour; (for verily Allah loseth not) thwarts not (the wages) the reward (of the kindly) those who ward off evil and are patient. Q12 V90 When Yusuf’s brothers told him about the hardship and shortages in food they suffered from, in the aftermath of the drought that struck them, and he remembered his father’s grief for losing his two children, he felt compassion, pity and mercy for his father, and so he cried and revealed his true identity to them. He had by now also learnt from Binyamin what slights and injustice he too had suffered at their hands after Yusuf’s (as) protection had been removed from him in their home. The shock! The shame!! They asked in disbelief “are thou Yusuf?” They got the direct reply, “Yes I am Yusuf”. But Yusuf (as) would be charitable - not only in the sense which they meant when they asked for charitable grant of grain, but in a far higher sense. He would forgive them and put the most charitable construction on what they did – that they knew not what they were doing! He then asked that his father, and indeed the whole family be brought to Egypt. Prayer: Oh Allah! I am asking You for the best this day has to offer, victory, support, light, blessing and guidance, so that I can be a blessing to the world. Amin. In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful ((And when they came unto their father and had spoken thus to him) he said) Jacob said to them: (Nay, but your minds have beguiled you into something) your minds have enticed you to do something, and so you did it. ((My course is) comely patience!) what I have to do is to be patient and show no anxiety. (It may be that Allah will bring them all) Joseph and his full brother as well as Judah (unto me. Lo! He, only He, is the Knower) of their whereabouts, (the Wise) in relation to returning them to me. Q12 V 83 (And he turned away from them) he left them (and said: Alas, my grief for Joseph! And his eyes were whitened with the sorrow) with tears (that he was suppressing) he kept his sorrow and grief within himself. Q12 V84 Binyamin was taken to Egypt, but he was detained by Yusuf (as). When the news came to Prophet Yaqub (as) that his son Binyamin had been detained in Egypt, his grief became indescribable. The sorrow brought up the memory of another and a greater one. “Binyamin is now gone! O but Yusuf (as)! His pretty dream of boyhood! His greatness foretold! And now how dark was the world!”, he lamented. If he could but weep, tears might give relief, and his red and swollen eyes might yet regain tieir light. But his grief was too deep for tears. His eyes lost their colours, and became a dull white. The light became a mere blur, a white glimmer. Darkness seemed to cover everything. His grief was unshared, unexpressed and uncomplaining. Yaqub (as) suppressed his sorrow and did not complain to a created being. Who could share the pain of a father or a mother over the loss of a child? Who could understand it? Yaqub (as) bore his sorrow in silence. Yet his faith was undimmed, and he clung unto the clamp of patience, the sovereign virtue of those who have faith. He knew of Allah’s merciful and beneficent dealings with man. His perfect faith in Allah also told him that all would be well. Yaqub (as) never gave up hope for Yusuf (as) and his faith saw him through, for he was eventually reunited with his sons. (He said) Jacob said: (I expose my distress and anguish only unto Allah, and I know from Allah that which ye know not) I know that Joseph's vision is true and that we will prostrate to him; it is also said that this means: I know of Allah's mercy and of His good work that which you do not; it is also said that this means: I know that Joseph is alive. That is because the angel of death came to him and he asked him: "did you take away the soul of Joseph from among those you took their souls away". And the angel said he did not. Q12 V86 Prayer: Oh Allah! Yours is the dominion of all things. Give us a giving spirit, and largness of heart to be useful to the world. Amin! |
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (So when they went back to their father) in the land of Canaan (they said: O our father! The measure is denied us) in the future if you do not send Benjamin with us, (so send with us our brother) Benjamin (that we may obtain the measure) so that he can buy a measure for himself; or: that we may buy a measure for him, according to a different reading, (surely we will guard him well) we guarantee to bring him back to you. Q12 V63 (He said) their father said to them: (I will not send him with you) simply because of your mere talk (till ye give me an undertaking) a pledge (in the name of Allah that you will bring him back to me, unless you are surrounded) unless an accident from heaven befalls you; it is also said that this means: unless an accident from heaven or from the earth descends upon you. (And when they gave him their undertaking) when they gave him their pledge in the name of Allah that they will bring him back (he said) Jacob said: (Allah is the Warden over what we say) Allah is a Witness over what we say; it is also said that this means: Allah is Custodian over what we say. Q12 V66 Yaqub’s (as) answer when asked to let Binyamin go with them was a flat refusal. He reasoned that it would be like the former occasion when he trusted Yusuf (as) with them and they lost him. The ten brothers did not take their father’s refusal as final. When they opened their saddlebags, they found that the price they had paid for their provisions had been returned to them. They had got the grain free!! What more could they desire? The spell which Yusuf (as) had woven worked. If they only went back, this kind Wazir would give more grain if they pleased him. And the only way to please him was to take back their younger brother with them. It would cost them nothing. Judging by past experience, they would get a whole camel’s load of grain now. And so they stated their case to their aged father. The appeal to the family’s need in the time of famine at length made Yaqub (as) relent, but he exacted a solemn promise from the brothers, under the most religious sanctions, that they would bring Binyamin back to him, unless they were themselves prevented, as in Insurance parlance by “an act of God”. Prayer: Oh Allah! Save us from greed and selfishness. Oh Allah! Save us from poverty and lack. Oh Allah! Save us from hunger and grief. Amin! In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (And Joseph's brethren came) to Egypt: there were ten of them (and presented themselves before him) before Joseph, (and he knew them) Joseph knew that they were his brothers (but they knew him not) they did not know he was their brother. Q12 V58 (And when he provided them with their provision) when he measured for them the measure they were entitled to have (he said: Bring unto me a brother of yours from your father) for you said that you had a half-brother, from your father's side, who stayed behind with your father. (See you not that I fill up the measure) it is said that he means: I fill up the measure with my own hands (and I am the best of hosts?) Q12 V59 Years pass: the times of prosperity go by: famin holds the land in its grip, and it extends to neighbouring countries. Yusuf’s (as) preparations are complete. His reserves are ample to meet the calamity. Not only does Egypt bless him, but neighbouring countries send to Egypt to purchase corn. All are received with hospitality, and corn is sold to them according to judicious measures. Yusuf (as) treated his brothers liberally when they came to him for provision, and he perhaps condescended to enter into conversation with these strangers, and enquired about their family. The ten brothers had come. Had they left a father behind them? What sort of a person was he? Very aged? Well, of course he could not come. Had they any other brothers? The brothers conveniently said nothing about their lost brother Yusuf (as), or if they did, told some lie about him. But their host’s kindly insistence brought Binyamin into the conversation. He inquired, how old was he? Why had they not brought him? Would they bring him next time?, he wanted to know. Indeed at length, he insisted that they must bring him the next time or they would get no more corn, and he, the great Egyptian Wazir would not even see them. (And if ye bring him not unto me) your half-brother from your father's side, (then there shall be no measure for you with me) in the future, (nor shall ye draw near) again. Q12 V60 Prayer: Oh Allah! Grant me the incentive to offer gratitude for thy grace which thou hast bestowed on me and my household and that I may act virtuously in a way which may be pleasing to Thee. Amin! In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (And the king said: Bring him unto me that I may attach him to my person) bring him so that I give him a privileged position instead of the Chief Official. (And when he had talked with him) and interpreted his dreams (he said) the king said to him: (Lo! thou art today in our presence) with us (established) you have prestige and position (and trusted) with what is entrusted to you; it is also said: you are trusted with the position that we give you. Q12 V54 (He said: Set me over the storehouses of the land) appoint me in charge of the treasury of Egypt (I am a skilled custodian) I am skilled in its estimation and know the time when people go hungry; it is also said that this means: I am trustworthy regarding that with which you have entrusted me, and also know the languages of the strangers who come to you. Q12 V55 (Thus gave We power to Joseph in the land) the land of Egypt. (He was the owner of it) who could go in this land (where be pleased. We reach with our mercy) with prophethood and Islam (whom We will) whoever deserves it. (We lose not) We thwart not (the reward of the good) the reward of the believers who do good in their deeds and speech. Q12 V56 NB: For anyone looking for a job or aspiring for a better position or placement in whatever capacity, this is a VERY good prayer. It could be recited several times after Naflah (Nawafil), or as often as one can. Recite the prayer with firm faith, believing that Almighty Allah that made Yusuf, a slave boy and an ex-prisoner, a minister in a great nation such as Egypt, then the greatest nation on earth will give you uncommon elevation. And Insha Allah, it shall be so. For better results you should recite in Arabic. Translation below: Wa Qaalal-makiku’-tuunii bihii ‘astakh-lis-hu linaf-sii. Falammaa kallamahuu qaala ‘innakal-yawma laday-naa makii-nun ‘amiin! Quaalaj-‘alnii ‘alaa khazaaa-‘inil-‘arzi ‘innii hafiizun ‘aliim. Wa kazaalika makkannaa li-yuusufa fil-‘arzi yata-baw-wa-‘u min-haa haysu yashaaa’. Nusiibu bi-rah-matinaa man-nashaaa-‘u wa laa nuzzi-‘u-‘ ajral-Muh-siniin. Fir’awn, the king was very impressed with the conduct and character of Yusuf (as) after he learnt that the interpretation of the dream was actually by him. The king took Yusuf (as) to serve about his own person as his trusted and confidential minister. Yusuf (as), was high in rank and was given plenary powers and authority by the king. Prophet Yusuf (as) who could have enjoyed the dignity, drawing his emoluments, putting the hard and perhaps unpopular task on the shoulders of others, while keeping to himself the glitter and perks did not do so; because that was not his way; nor can it indeed be the way of anyone who wants to do real service. Rather he undertook the hardest and most unpopular task himself. The boy, whom his jealous brothers got rid of by throwing down into a well, sold into slavery for a miserable price, thrown to languish in prison with criminals, became the most trusted dignitary in a foreign land. Chief minister in one of the greatest empires of the world at that time. And this is, not for him only, but for his family, for the world at large, and for the noble example of righteousness and strenuous service, which he was to set for all time. To the righteous, whatever reward that comes in this world are welcome as opportunities to serve humanity According to tradition, Yusuf’s age at the time was barely 30. A young man ful of power, full of wisdom, but who never lost his head. Allah turned his troubles to triumph, his lemon was turned to lemonade. Prayer: Oh Allah! Make my wealth lawful and guide me to use it for the benefit of mankind. |
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Joseph without a second thought, agreed to interpret the dream and even went further to advise them on what to do: When he went to him, he said: (Joseph! O thou truthful one!) O you who were truthful in interpreting the first dream, (Expound for us the seven fat kine) that came out of the river and (which seven lean) that were dying of lack of nourishment (were eating and the seven green ears of corn and other (seven) dry) coiling around the seven green ears, overshadowing their greenery, (that I may return unto the people) to the king, (so that they may know) the interpretation of the king's dream. Joseph said: “Yes! I will interpret his dream. The seven fat kine are seven years of soil fertility, and the seven green ears represent abundance and low prices during these seven years. The seven dying, lean kine represent years of drought while the seven dry ears represent lack of foodstuff and high prices during these years”.[Q12: Verse 46] Joseph then instructed them what to do. (He said: Ye shall sow seven years as usual) each year continuously, (but that which ye reap) of crops, (leave it in the ear) and do not thresh it, this is better for its preservation, (all save a little which ye eat) all save the quantity which you need for your sustenance. [Q12: Verse 47] (Then after that) after the seven years of soil fertility (will come seven hard years) seven years of drought (which will devour all that ye have prepared for them) all that you have saved during the seven years of soil fertility, (save a little of that which ye have stored) kept aside. [Q12: Verse 48] (Then, after that) after the years of drought, (will come a year when the people) of Egypt (will have plenteous crops) foodstuffs and rain (and when they will press) wine and oils. [Q12: Verse 49] The Messenger went back and informed the king of it. (And the King said: Bring him unto me) bring Joseph to me. (And when the messenger) the cupbearer (came unto him) to Joseph and informed him that the king wanted to see him, (he said) Joseph said to him: (Return unto thy lord) your master, the king (and ask him what was the case of the women) he said: go and ask the king to enquire about what really happened with those women (who cut their hands) who slashed and grazed their hands. (Lo! my lord) my master (knoweth their guile) their scheming and doing. [Q12: VERSE 50] The messenger went back and informed the king who summoned the four women: the wife of his cupbearer, the wife of his chief cook, the wife of the master of his stable and the wife of the Chief Official. These four women were the most powerful personalities after the king. (He (the king) (then sent for those women and) said: What happened when ye asked an evil act of Joseph? They answered: Allah Blameless!) God forbid! (We know) we saw (no evil of him. Said the wife of the ruler: Now the Truth is out) in favour of Joseph; it is also said that this means: now is the time to tell the truth. (I asked of him an evil act) I offered myself to him, (and he is surely of the Truthful) that he did not ask an evil act of me. Q12 Verse 51 Joseph said: (This, that he) the Chief Official (may know that I betrayed him not) regarding his wife (in secret) when he was away, (and that surely Allah guideth not) neither is He pleased with nor make right (the snare of the betrayers) the work of adulterers. [Q12 Verse 53] At this point Gabriel said to him: “Not even when you nearly went to her, O Joseph?” Joseph said: (I do not exculpate myself) I do not exonerate my heart from nearly going towards her. (Lo! the (human) soul) the heart (enjoineth) the body (unto evil) evil works, (save that whereon my Lord hath mercy) save those whom Allah protects. (My Lord is Forgiving) He pardons, (Merciful) regarding the fact that I nearly went towards her. Q12 V53 Prayer: Oh Allah! Thou art the lord of the seven heavens and of the great Throne (Arsh); Oh Allah, extend sufficient patronage to me in all my enterprises in whatever way and place thou liketh; Allah is enough for me for my faith’ Allah is enough for me whenever I am worried or victimized by anybody or exposed to the jealousy of someone or when anybody deceives me with evil intention; Allah is enough for me during the pangs of death and questioning of angels in the grave. Amin! |
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Joseph them proceeded to interpret the dreams of the two prisoners, saying: (O my two fellow prisoners! As for one of you) the cupbearer, he will return to his former position and glory, (he will pour out wine for his lord) his master the king (to drink; and as for the other) the baker, he will leave prison, and (he will be crucified so that the birds will eat from his head) the two prisoner were alarmed upon hearing the interpretation of the baker's dream. Both of them hastened to say: “We have not seen any dreams!” But Joseph said to them: (Thus is the case judged concerning which ye did inquire) it will be just as I have informed you, whether you saw those dreams or not. Q12 Verse 41 (And the king said: Lo! I saw in a dream seven fat kine) coming out of a river (which seven lean were eating) the seven lean kine, that were dying of lack of nourishment swallowed up the fat kine, but even then it was as if they did not eat anything, (and seven green ears of corn and other (seven) dry) the dry ones coiling around the green ones such that they overshadowed their greenery and became unnoticeable. (O notables!) Meaning: the soothsayers, sorcerers and fortune-tellers, (Expound for me my vision) interpret for me my dream, (if ye can interpret dreams) if you know how to interpret dreams. Q12 VERSE 43 (And he of the two who was released) from prison, i.e. the cupbearer, (and (now) at length) after seven years (remembered) remembered Joseph, (said: I am going to announce unto you the interpretation) he said to the king: I will inform you of the interpretation of your dream, (therefore send me forth) to prison for there is a man there who knows the interpretation of dreams. And he described Joseph's knowledge, clemency and goodness towards the prisoners and his expertise in interpreting dreams. And so he was sent. Q12 VERSE 45 The king of Egypt had a dream which Allah the exalted used as a reason for the release of Yusuf (as) from prison, whth his honor and reputation preserved. When the king had this dream, he was astonished and fearful and sought it’s interpretation. He gathered the priests, the chiefs of his state and the princes and told them what he had seen in a dream, asking them to interpret it for him, but they did not know its interpretation. At length, the conscience of the cupbearer who was in prison with Yusuf (as) was awakened. He thought of Yusuf, but Yusuf was a truthful man, and the cupbearer knew by personal experience how skilful he was in the interpretation of dreams. Perhaps he could get him released at this juncture by getting him to interpret the king’s dream. If he had been frank, straight, and direct, he might have mentioned Yusuf (as) at once, and presented him to Fir’awn. But it seemed he had selfish ulterior agenda. He probably wanted some credit for himself. His petty conscience would be satisfied if he got Yusuf’s release, but meanwhile he wanted to see how much attention he could draw to himself in the court. So he just asked permission to withdraw in order to find the interpretation. He went straight to the prison, and addressed himself to Yusuf (as), who innocently told him the interpretation of the dream. Prayer” Oh Allah! Oh Allah! Oh Allah! Oh Lord of mankind. Open our hearts to receive Your light which will illuminate us and allow us to see clearly what we see not before. SOURCE: Arabel Publishing House, Tanwīr al-Miqbās min Tafsīr Ibn 'Abbās |

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (And I have followed the religion of my fathers) I held firm to the religion of my forefathers, (Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. It never was for us) it was not permissible for us (to attribute aught) any idols (as partner to Allah. This) pure Religion, prophethood and Islam with which Allah has honoured us (is of the bounty of Allah unto us) a blessing that Allah blessed us with (and unto mankind) by sending us to them; it is also said that this means: this is a bounty unto the believers through the blessing of faith; (but most men) the people of Egypt (give not thanks) do not believe in this. Q12 VERSE 38 (O my two fellow prisoners!) He said this to the prison master as well as to the prisoners (Are diverse lords better) is the worship of numerous gods better, (or Allah the One, the Almighty?) or the worship of Allah, the One Who has no son or partner, the All-Conquering over His created beings. Q12 VERSE 39 Yusuf (as) said: “I have avoided the way of disbelief and polytheism, and followed the way of these honourable Messangers” This, indeed is the way of he who seeks the path of guidance and follows the way of the Messangers, all the while shunning the path of deviation. It is he whose heart Allah will guide, teaching him what he did not know beforehand, he whom Allah will make an Imam, who is imitated in the way of righteousness, and a caller to the path of goodness. Prophet Yusuf (as) went on calling his two prison companions to worship Allah alone, without partners, and to reject whatever is being worshiped instead of Him like the idols, which were worshiped by the people of the two men. Yusuf said, ‘are many different lords (gods) better, or Allah, the one, the irresistible, to whose grace and infinite kingdom everything and everyone has submitted in humiliation?’ Prayer: Oh Allah! We submit our souls unto you and we entrust our affairs unto you, and we turn our face towards you, and we totally rely on you, in hope and fear of you. Verily there is no refuge nor safe haven from you except with you. We believe in your book which you have revealed SOURCE: Arabel Publishing House, Tanwīr al-Miqbās min Tafsīr Ibn 'Abbās |
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (And two young men) two slaves of the king: his cupbearer and his cook-he got angry with them and put them in prison-(went to prison with him) they stayed together five years. (One of them), the cupbearer, (said: I dreamed that I was pressing wine) pressing grapes to make wine and giving it to the king. This cupbearer saw in a dream that he entered a vineyard and there he saw a pleasant bough with three offshoots and on the offshoots bunches of grapes. He picked the grapes, pressed them and gave it to the King. Joseph said: “As for the vineyard, it is the job you had; the bough represents the expertise you have in your job; its pleasantness represents your position and merit in that job. The three offshoots mean that you will be released in three days and shall return to your job. The pressed grapes you gave to the king mean that he will give you your job back, honour you and treat you well”. (The other) the cook, who prepared the king's bread (said I dreamed that I was carrying upon my head bread whereof the birds were eating) he saw in his dream that he was coming out of the king's kitchen carrying on his head three baskets of bread when birds came and ate from the bread on the baskets. Joseph said: “You have seen an evil thing. As for your going out of the King's kitchen, this means that you will lose your job; the three baskets means that you will stay in prison for three days. The birds eating from the baskets means that the king will get you out of prison in three days to crucify you and the birds will eat of your head”. Before Joseph interpreted their dreams for them, the two men said to him: (Announce unto us the interpretation) interpret for us our dreams, (for we see thee of those good) towards the prisoners; it is also said that this means: you are of those who are truthful in their speech. Q12 V36 (He said) Joseph said to them, because he wanted to inform them about his knowledge of interpreting dreams: (The food which ye are given (daily) shall not come unto you but I shall tell you the interpretation) i.e. of its colour and type (ere it cometh unto you) so can I fail to interpret your dreams? (This) the interpretation of dreams (is of that which my Lord hath taught me. Lo! I have forsaken the religion of folk) I did not follow the religion of a people (who believe not in Allah and are disbelievers in) they are deniers of (the Hereafter) resurrection after death. Q12 V37 This was prophet Yusuf (as), son of the prophet Yaqub (as), and grand son of the prophet Ishaq (as) and great grand son of the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) (as), eminent in lineage, a prophet by heredity, noble in disposition, and eccellent in morals and manners, mentioned in revealed books, narrated in religious, literary and philosophical works, and matchless in beauty, yet he was sent to prison for a sin he did not commit. Two fellow prisoners asked him for the interpretation of their dreams. But Yusuf’s (as) mission was far higher than that of merely foretelling events. He must teach the truth of Allah and the faith in the hereafter to both men. He did that first before he talked of the events of their present life. He did it so tenderly. He did not patronize them. In effect, he said: “You shall learn everything before our next meal, but let me first teach you faith” Yusuf (did) not preach a pompous sermon, or claimed any credit to himself for placing himself at their service. He was just doing his duty, and the highest good he could do for them was to teach them faith. He must teach them of the unity, he must teach them of the oneness of Allah Even in strange or difficult situations, what should be paramount in our hearts should be the MESSAGE, conveying the MESSAGE!. Prayer: Oh Allah! I beseech you by your mercy which encompasses everything to grant me the wisdom to obey your commandments exactly as you have commanded. In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (And when she heard of their sly talk, she sent to them) an invitation (and prepared for them a cushioned couch) to lie on and then she had meat and bread brought to them (and gave to every one of them a knife) for they did not eat of meat except that which they could cut with their knives (and said) Zelicha said to Joseph: (Come out unto them!) O Joseph! (And when they saw him they exalted him and cut their hands, exclaiming: Allah Blameless!) Allah forbid! (This is not a human being. This is no other than some gracious angel) gracious in the sight of his Lord. Quran 12 Verse 31 (She said) Zelicha said to them: (This is he on whose account you blamed me) and vilified me. (I asked of him an evil act) I wanted him to sleep with me, (but he proved continent) but he refused out of continence, (but if he do not my behest he verily shall be imprisoned, and verily shall him of those brought low) he will be humiliated in prison. Quran 12 Verse 32 These women said to Joseph. “Obey your mistress!” (He said) Joseph said: (O my Lord! Prison is more dear than that unto which they urge me) of adultery, (and if Thou fend not off their wiles) their scheming (from me I shall incline unto them and become of the foolish) who ignore Your blessing; it is also said that the foolish here refer to adulterers. Quran 12 Verse 33 Apart from Zuleikha, all her friends too became interested in Yusuf (as), and he sought his God in prayer, that prison is better for him to the temptation of these women Yusuf’s (as) speech is characteristic. Like a true prophet of Allah, he took refuge in Allah, for he knew the weakness of human nature. He would not pit his own strength against the whole assault of evil. He relied on Allah to turn evil away from him, for it is only the ignorant who do not know man’s weakness and Allah’s strength. No man can resist temptations of the flesh, lust, except with the help of Allah. Now Yusuf’s trip to prison is another plan of Allah The wicked might plot, the weak might be swayed by spurious arguments, but everything is used by the Universal plan for its own beneficient purposes. Yusuf must get in touch with Fir’awn (Pharon) – in order to work out the salvation of Egypt; and yet, it must be through no obligation to smaller men. Allah Almighty wants all the glory; no one should share in His glory of introducing Yusuf (as) to Fir’awn. Yusuf (as) must owe nobody but Allah, and so Yusuf (as) prophet of Allah was imprisoned without justification Prayer: Oh Allah! Grant me further knowledge and wisdom and join me with righteous persons. And grant me a tongue which may go down as truth for future generations, and make me inheritor of a fruitful paradise, and do not disgrace me on the day of resurrection. In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (And they raced with one another to the door) Joseph wanting to leave and her wanting to lock the door. The woman got there first (and she tore his shirt) in two (from behind) from the waist to his feet, (and they met her lord and master) the husband of the woman; and it is said: her cousin (at the door. She said) the woman said to her husband: (What shall be his reward, who wisheth evil) adultery (to your folk, save prison or a painful doom) be severely beaten? Q12 VERSE 25 ((Joseph) said: She it was who asked of me an evil act) it is her who called me and offered herself to me. (And in witness of her own folk testified) a man taken as judge from her own people, her brother and it is said her cousin, pronounced: (If his shirt) the shirt of Joseph (is torn from before) from the front, (then she speaketh truth) then the woman has spoken the Truth (and he is of the liars). [Q12 VERSE 26] (And if his shirt is torn from behind) from the back, (then she hath lied) then the woman has lied (and he is of the Truthful) that she invited him to her. [Q12 VERSE 27] (So when he saw his shirt torn from behind, he said) her brother said: (Lo! this is of the guile) the scheming and devising (of you women. Lo! the guile of you is very great) it touches the innocent and the sick. [Q12 VERSES 28] Her brother then said to Joseph: (O Joseph! Turn away from this) and do not inform anyone. And then he turned to the woman and said: (and thou, (O woman), ask forgiveness for thy sin) seek your husband's forgiveness for your act. (Lo! thou art of the sinful) you cheated your husband. [Q12 VERSES 29] However, the news of this incident spread in the city, (And women in the city) they were four women: the wife of the king's cupbearer, the wife of the king's head of prisons, the wife of the king's cook and the wife of the man in charge of the king's stable (said: The ruler's wife) Zelicha (is asking of her slave boy an ill deed) wants her slave boy to sleep with her. (Indeed he has smitten her to the heart with love. We behold her in plain aberration) she is plainly wrong in her love of her slave boy. [Q12 VERSES 30] |
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful (And she, in whose house he was, asked of him an evil act. She bolted the doors) on her and Joseph (and said) to Joseph: (Come!) I am yours. (He said) Joseph said: (I seek refuge in Allah!) from such a thing. (Lo! he is my lord) The Chief Official, (who hath treated me honourably) in contrast to his own brothers. (Wrongdoers never prosper) adulterers will never be safe from or escape Allah's chastisement. Q12 V23 When Yusuf (as) left Canaan, he was a young and immature youth of seventeen or eighteen, but his nature was innocent and good. Through the vicissitudes of his fortune in Egypt, he grew in knowledge, judgement and power. The wife of the Aziz, Zuleikha sought to seduce Yusuf (as), for he was a man with unsurpassed beauty. An authentic Hadith stated that the Messenger of Allah passed prophet Yusuf (as), during the night of isra in the third heaven and commended, “he was gien half of all the beauty”. Yusuf (as) plea in rejecting the mistress of the house, Zuleikha’s advances is threefold: (1) he owes a duty to the husband, the Aziz; (2) the kindness, courtesy, and honour, with which the Aziz treated Yusuf entitled him to more than mere gratitude. (3) in any case, he saw such act as harbouring a guilty passion, and that no good can come out of guilt. He therefore resorted to obey laid down laws – human and divine. (She) the woman (verily desired him, and he) Joseph (would have desired her if it had not been that he saw the argument of his Lord) if he had not seen that the chastisement of his Lord would befall him; it is also said that this means: if he had not seen the figure of his father; and it is also said that this means: if he had not seen the proof of his Lord. (Thus it was, that We might ward off from him evil and lewdness) adultery. (Lo! he was of Our chosen slaves) who are protected from adultery. Q12 VERSE 24 Zuleikha was blinded with passion, and his plea had no effect on her. He was human after all, and her passionate love and her beauty placed a great temptation in his path. But he had a sure refuge – his faith in |Allah. His spiritual eyes saw something that her eyes blinded by passion, did not see. She thought no one will see them when the doors were closed, but he know that Allah was there and everywhere. That made him strong against the temptation. Prayer: Oh Allah! Make us of those that turn to you in repentance and make us of those who remain clean and pure. Amin! |
