seunmsg: For a candidate that emerged through the backdoor, Peter Obi really thinks highly of himself. What's the essence of being a presidential candidate that everyone knows is in the race just to make up the number and not to win? Any noisemaker can emerge as the presidential of any unserious platform. We've seen jokes that like run for president in every election cycle all over the world.
Peter Obi is in the same category of presidential wannabes like Pastor Okotie, Omoyele Sowore and Gbenga Olawepo Hassim. They are all comedians who are only in the race to add some comic relief to the contest. Obi should go and debate his fellow jesters in the race. Is that why you're crying more than the bereuved? |

Baxilexi: From what i understand, the US is trying to work something out with Oman. Ships in their territorial waters are of no concern to the IRGC.
This imminent isolation scares them.
First it was the road up north with Armenia and Azerbaijan. Then the Lebanon - Isreal deal, with the right legal framework, disputes over the strait ends. Exactly!!!....just imagine the audacity....you're trying to hoard and extort from people that are using a international water way because it's close to your territory and when the same people are trying to work another route out that they will also feel safe using you're doing everything to stop their plans like typical witches....Iranian-Nigerians won't see this now but if the bombs start flying they'll on their mic, climb to the rooftops and start singing their usual genocide campaign. |

Netanyahu should be given a special award as the man who saw the future in this case.....he reads these guys just like a book...just imagine the plain terrorism they're displaying to not just the people they claimed attacked them but to the entire world at large because of this natural leverage they managed to get their hands on.Imagine the audacity to suggest that Oman's route shouldn't be used....only that of Iran should be used. .....and then going ahead to attack ships for no reason. No central leadership...just confused sets of hydra cells going rogue and terrorizing the world....they should count themselves lucky tho that Netanyahu is not the one presiding over a country like the US if not the story would've been different for them by now....He will match fire with double fire.
I would encourage everyone to start getting used to higher energy prices because Iran have proven that they cannot be trusted.....the world should absorb the impact and also find alternative routes if possible or even join the campaign to defeat this rogue state whom have vowed to continually hold the world hostage instead of them spiting and attacking Netanyahu all day....He has been proven right to chose brutal means with dealing with their likes afterall. |
Foreign Affairs › Iran Says Strait Of Hormuz Closed 'until Further Notice' by Mattswaggz(op): 5:30am On Jul 12 |
The US said it launched a fresh wave of strikes on Iran after Tehran struck a ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it closed the waterway until further notice and warned of a severe response to US "aggression", according to state media.
Within hours of the US strikes, the IRGC said they had hit a US base in Jordan, while the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain were all responding to missiles and drones from Iran.
It comes after incidents earlier this week in which three commercial tankers were attacked, prompting an exchange of strikes with the US
US Central Command (Centcom) said it launched a third round of strikes this week after the IRGC "blatantly attacked" a Cyprus-flagged vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
Centcom said the MV GFS Galaxy was "unable to continue its journey" as a result of significant damage to the engine room. One civilian crew member was missing, it said.
The UK's Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it had been informed by military authorities that the crew were forced to abandon ship and were in a lifeboat.
"Iran was provided yet another opportunity to demonstrate adherence to the Memorandum of Understanding after being held accountable for earlier attacks on commercial vessels but has again failed," Centcom wrote in a statement shared to X.
The statement was shared by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who wrote: "Iran made a poor choice. Now they pay."
The IRGC said the US had targeted "a number of coastal bases and telecommunications towers on the southern coast".
In response, Iran said its "first phase" of retaliation included strikes on the Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, saying it had destroyed the base's command and control centre and MQ9 drone hangars.
Earlier on Sunday, state media said Iran had closed the Strait of Hormuz until further notice after firing a naval cruise missile at a vessel that was attempting to sail along an unapproved route.
The Guards said the vessel was "hit by warning shots and stopped" after ignoring repeated instructions, according to a statement carried by state news agency
It also warned that any US "aggression" as a result of the closure would be responded to with "severity" and new bases in the region would be targeted.
Earlier this week, three commercial tankers were attacked as they tried to cross a US-recommended route through Omani waters. Iran has repeatedly said the only "safe" route is a separate route through its waters.
The incident prompted a series of US strikes in which 17 people were killed and 115 injured, according to Iranian officials. Iran responded with strikes on US allies in the Gulf.
The exchange raised tensions, with US President Donald Trump declaring the Iranian attacks mean the ceasefire is over. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused the US of violating the deal.
However, the US leader said talks would still continue and mediators were trying to revive the process. US media has reported that Iran told American officials the attacks on tankers were a mistake and blamed a rogue internal group.
American officials say they have conveyed through mediators the demand that Iran publicly state that the Strait of Hormuz, a vital international shipping route, is open and pledge to stop firing on commercial ships.
The closure follows a call for revenge from Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, in his first public statement since taking leadership.
His father and predecessor, Ali Khamenei, was killed in an air strike on 28 February, on the first day of the US-Israeli war against Iran. He was buried in his home city of Mashhad on Friday.
Reading a statement on state television, the new ayatollah said that vengeance was the "will of the nation".
"We pledge to avenge the blood of the martyred leader and all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and disgraced killers," he was quoted as saying.
"The matter depends neither on my personal existence nor on that of other officials. Whether we are present or not, it will come to pass."
Many Iranians taking part in funeral ceremonies over the past few days carried placards calling for the killing of US President Donald Trump, who on Saturday warned that any such plans would see the US "decimate and destroy all areas" of Iran in response.
The Wall Street Journal and other US media reported this week that Israel had shared intelligence with Washington that Iran had recently devised a plan to assassinate the US president.
However, Trump denied that Tehran had made a fresh plan or that Israel was the source of any intelligence. He told the New York Post in an interview that he had been "No. 1 [on Iran's kill list] for a long time". https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cj9gkpp0dkeo

Christianity Etc › God Answered Prayers Over Oyo Pupils’ Rescue, Says RCCG by Mattswaggz(op): 9:56pm On Jul 11 |
The Redeemed Christian Church of God has described the rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State as an answer to prayers, thanking God and security agencies for securing their freedom.
In a post on its official X handle on Friday, the church said the rescue of the victims fulfilled God’s promise after weeks of prayers and fasting.
"And our God arose like He promised! Let somebody shout Hallelujah!! Glory be to our God for answering our prayers and fulfilling His word.
“We appreciate the efforts of all the security agencies in securing the release of our school children and their teachers from captivity. Congratulations to each of them and their families. Our God answers prayers. Hallelujah!!!” the church wrote.
The post was accompanied by a video of the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, speaking during the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organised by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington, D.C., on June 23.
In the video, Adeboye disclosed that the church had been praying and fasting for the safe return of the abducted schoolchildren after one of their teachers was killed in captivity.
"We have been fasting, we have been praying for a particular group of school children that were captured and the kidnappers felt that the government was not reacting fast enough to give them the money they asked for.
"They slaughtered their teacher and showed the video to the rest of the world. And then God spoke to me, told me that as for the release of the children, it’s going to be dramatic. But He didn’t tell me the time or the details,” Adeboye said.
PUNCH Online had earlier reported that Adeboye raised concerns over Nigeria’s worsening insecurity during the same event, saying terrorism and kidnapping had spread from northern Nigeria to the South.
He also defended President Bola Tinubu against criticisms over insecurity, arguing that the President had fulfilled his responsibility by issuing directives to the military, while urging him to give military commanders a 90-day ultimatum to eliminate terrorism and go after those financing the attacks.
PUNCH Online also reported on Friday that the abducted pupils and teachers regained their freedom after spending 57 days in captivity.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the development, saying security agencies successfully rescued the victims.
According to him, no concession was made to the terrorists during the operation.
The victims were abducted on May 15, 2026, when gunmen attacked Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School in the Esiele and Yawota communities of Oriire Local Government Area.
No fewer than 39 pupils and seven teachers, including a principal, were kidnapped during the attacks.
During the incident, teacher Joel Adesiyan was killed while attempting to escape, while another teacher, Michael Oyedokun, was later beheaded by the kidnappers.
The abductors had reportedly demanded the release of detained terrorist commanders, payment of ransom, two Hilux vehicles and the implementation of Sharia-related law before freeing the captives.
However, the Oyo State Government consistently maintained that it would not pay ransom to secure the victims’ release. https://punchng.com/god-answered-prayers-over-oyo-pupils-rescue-says-rccg/
