Thanks to all those who contributed and to those who asked an obvious question "what are you doing in Vietnam " I will wish people make an informed researches before coming out to ask a question that will make them look lame. If I have Vietnam and Nigeria as a country to choose, I will choose Vietnam over and over again. Remember I am here on a work visa and not staying illegally. Lastly, why I am in Vietnam is because I chose it and I am enjoying what I have never enjoyed in Nigeria for the past 30 years.

I have also posted and tagged many prominent Nigerians and individuals. I hope we get speedily reply. Thank you guys for your replies

I am in a group of South Africans in China, and it takes them close to a year to get a new passport. When I renewed my passport in China, it took me just 20minutes to get a replacement. I have an Australian friend that his passport got damaged in Thailand, it took two months to get a replacement. I want you to understand this is not just about Nigeria alone but a common occurrence that's why it's better to get a replacement months before your current passport expires (I got a replacement 7 months before mine expired) Sorry for what you're going through, I hope you find a solution soon
Thanks for your contribution but I wish to make it clearer. My passport is not yet expired but has from now till October to do so but my resident card can not be renewed again until I renew my passport. Many have few months to expire. My friend had to travel home because he doesn't want to risk 5 years non entry and he spent not less than $3000 which he cant come back to Vietnam anytime soon. Our records are at the Immigration database with our details, what is hard for them to use the details on their database and reprint a new passport. Why can't they have a staff of Immigration at the Embassies that will be doing the capturing and be sending back to Nigeria or better still, have the matchine that can do it. We have two Embassies here in Vietnam and non is renewing passport, then of what need are they there. Nigeria issues are always the worst when it comes to helping their citizens on disapora

We have two Embassies in Vietnam and non of them is issuing passport. They are always at the mercy of Nigerian Embassy in Malaysia. A lot of us who are genuinely working are at edge of loosing our work because of issue of expired passport.

Staying a day after ones visa expiration in Vietnam is 5 years entry sanction. Why can’t Nigeria immigration Service do non-appearance passport for those their passports have expired like other African countries here in Vietnam.

Most of the African countries don’t even have Embassies much more a passport desk here but they never lack any basic service from their government. My Ghanaian and Uganda friends are not shaken at all by this pandemic limitations and expiring passport wahala. My Ghanaians friend sent their copy of their expiring passports to their High Commission in Malaysia and all their passport were done and sent back to them through DHL.

Ours is a different ball game even when we have our finger prints and details in the immigration database. Most countries don't have issues with their own Embassies even when the Embassies are not sited here. They are 100% assured of any basic needs they might be in need. Why are we a pain to our citizens. Why can't the citizens of Nigeria be proud of Nigeria just for once. I am really pained and our help is only from above. We have the risk of loosing our jobs and returning back to Nigeria just to renew our passport and have no chance of coming back due to the fact of border closing on foreigners. If our passports can't be renewed in another country where we have two Embassies then what is the purpose of having Embassies there.

Are we truly a shithole country likeTrump said?

Naija why? Are we cursed as a nation?
Analogue leaders in high places of authority?
What is wrong with us?

Going by what is on the other threads, you need to get your health insurance before going. Check the Poland thread, you will see it there. Should be around 35 or 35+, not sure of the price. AXA Mansard and some other insurance companies offer this. Opinion based on what I've read on some of the threads here.
Thanks for your input. I am presently not in Nigeria and I don't if is okay for me to buy health insurance from Mansard

I have gotten all others except Prove of accommodation and health insurance. How can I get this prove of accommodation and do I need to get a health insurance before travelling or when I have already entered Austria. I have gotten my travel insurance already. Please, I need someone who can advise me on what to do. Currently, I am residing abroad not presently in Nigeria. Thank you guys.

My name is Maureen and I join Nairaland Community through a friend recommendation. I recently got admitted in a Masters course at the University of Vienna, Austria. I am stuck with some requirements that I need an urgent response from people already in Austria or those with wide knowledge about how things work over there. I have gotten almost all the requirements except Evidence of accommodation and health insurance. Most of the accommodation I have seen online are way too costly to pay for and taking the fact that Vienna is a big and costly city as I was informed on researches I have made. Can I book for accommodation in another city I got admitted? Does anyone know the best way to go about the prove of Accommodation? Does anyone know the cheapest accommodation( Dormitory, shared apartments, hotels etc) i can pay for? I got travel insurance already and I don't know if i must get Health insurance before travelling or when I have arrived at Austria? Is AXe Sheghen Insurance company good company to use for my insurance or is there anyone i can use. I am not in Nigeria at present and I reside in Singapore. Please I need some clarifications from your wonderful inputs.
