Web design and development is the same thing to some extent with bit of concept to understand , a web designer is one who design the website elements such as UX/UI interface and all, a developer on the other hand is someone who's more likely to work over the backend functionalities and programming end of the project , some people do both, such as these guys here are doing both web development and web designing, but in my opinion i believe that these guys must have a team at backend and different people would be handling their website design end and development end. in my programming career i have seen many people do both things at the same time but what i believe is you gotta be good at one end specifically to be able to do it in a professional manner.
