DABREEZYTOS:Thats what the average Nigerian thinks.... For the average Nigerian he is better than every body. Well sorry to tell you. We Ghanaians are a proud people. Dont think becos of Ghana must go , you are better than Ghanaians. you are not. Yes some did petty trading in your country. But also do well to remember there were lecturers, bussinessmen/women, entrepreneurs etc. Before the Ghanaian came to Nigeria for greener pastures, your ancestors were in Ghana working as laborer on my grandfathers cocoa farm. so learn to show respect to yours elders. If you see us as your money, then you are the banana we have been longing for. peace to you |
Most of you just comment on this forum without the full import of the story... Those who vex me most are the few Ghanaians on this forum. People from a different country are throwing are sending wrong impressions about your country to the outside world, others are telling lies and not a single person is debunking their assertions, you are rather going off target. Look I am a full blooded Ghanaian and proud of it. 1) Ghanaians do not hate any body, cool headed Nigerians would attest to this. 2) the law that prohibits foreigners in the retail trade is not a new law- it has been there since God knows when but was revised in 1992 udring the constitutional reviw, besides most countries have it, including Nigeria. 3)The law is mostly misquoted and misrepresented by people and I see that on this forum. 4) To paraphrase it, The law reserves the retail trade for only Ghanaians traders within the Business District. These business districts are simply designated places built by the Ghanaian tax payer. Which means foreigners including Nigerians can do their retail trade so far as its not within the business district. 4) Most Ghanaian traders will want to follow the law by paying their taxes, but such cannot be said of the foreigners, its hard to monitor them, aside that most of the goods sold by these Nigerians are smuggled. This gives them advantage over their Ghanaian counterparts in terms of lower prices. Its not like you know business better than Ghanaians. We can compete with anyone but we want to do it fairly. 5) I can tell you on authority that most of these trade more than what you and i know. Drugs. I have an uncle there i know what i am talking about. Ghana will never sack Nigerians away. We have grown past that stage. If you care to know Nigeria is more protectionist than any country in Africa. 6) The same Nigeria that is complaining about Ghana's actions, has yearly released import prohibition list, that bans the import of some items from foreign countries including Ghana- an ecowas member. Today Nigerians are acting all clean and innocent. If you don't know Nigeria has along list of banned items from Ghana including textiles. And we are all supposed to be ecowas members. I will want to believe the Nigerian Government wants to fight for the interest of its citizens by placing a ban on imports. But if even Nigeria can do that, why cant Ghana also look out for its citizens. Please we have abundance of retail traders in the business district. What we want is big money investment, with solid technology transfer and massive employment, not these sopi sopi petty traders. Please. |
paix:You see oohh.... My bro. Stay blessed |
BedLam:Oh my brother/Sister... you have disappointed me. I did not insult you in my post. I was just trying to debunk what you typed up there, so why do you think you have to insult me in other to get your point across. Look I know you had hopes in Buhari turning your country into Dubai in just one term and so some of you were hoodwinked into voting for him. I know your country is going through a hard time. The security issues, electricity, corrupt politicians, ineffective government and all that but hey....... You are not alone in this one, Most countries in Africa are facing it maybe in varying degrees so chill OK. It shall be alright. I believe there are better days ahead for all African countries. OOo ok I get you now... Thats if you want to fully own it as a foreigner but with 200K you can do if you partner with a Ghanaian. Well maybe... I don't know the type of business but what I know is if its the retail business then you require 300K USD and must employ a few Ghanaians. I have friends in the Register Generals Department. If I may ask what line of business is it? Bless |
BedLam:Please and please, I take God beg you stop misinforming the public. and stop acting like you are wiser or smarter than those who drafted our constitution. Sir, I just want to suggest to you that all you typed up there is untrue and whoever gave you that information is a lier. In fact foreigners can engage in the retail business but what our constitution seek to do was to encourage massive investment in formal retail business. Hence the rule that foreigners invest 300k usd and employ a few Ghanaians. Of course noone will invest such amount and not make it a serious business. This is to reduce petty trading and formalize the economy. Thanks Nigeria does it too. ask |
Itsky:Dont say something you cant prove. Besides what you typed just does not make sense. Look at the hardship Ghana was going through, famine, recession, corruption and incompetence. You think they will do something like that to bring their citizens back to the county only to double their woes at home. Please use your head... It will help you. Bless. |
paix:I know you Nigerians look over your shoulders, all paranoid, asking yourselves " will these people (Ghanaians) that we chased out of our country with the help of our government chase us away like we did?" Answer from a proud Ghanaian: NO, The Ghana you see now has matured so much politically, economically and in wisdom, we will not. Even us the citizens will oppose any such move. Your leaders should have shown that maturity when Ghana first drove Nigerians away by exhibiting love and teaching us (Ghanaians) and other Africans the virtue and importance of being there and caring for your brother especially when your brother needed you the most (Ghana was experiencing famine then). I tell you this would have earned Nigeria the real big brother status it so much touts itself with. But after mismanagement of the economy they looked for the usual scapegoat- Ghanaians. They repeated the same mistake Ghanaian leaders did in the 1960s even in the face of worldwide condemnation. Its all passed now we are forging ahead for the better future. Most Nigerians I have met think Ghanaians still hold grudges against their mass deportation. I can tell you for a fact that those who remember it are the older ones and they are few, compared to to the younger generation. Its not like it is taught in our schools. So the likelihood of meeting a Ghanaian youth who knows about it is negligible. But Nigerians seem to derive pleasure in reminding Ghanaians about it. Introduce yourself to Nigerians and they feel this sense of superiority over you, as if all Ghanaians in Nigeria did menial jobs. They begin to see you like they see their abokies from the Northern Nigeria who mostly do menial jobs in the south. lol... Please do remember there were teachers, Managers , University lectures and businessmen/ women and entrepreneurs. Like i said its all history we Ghanaians are looking forward to a better future... And Nigeria, all Africans and everyone would be needed. Long live Ghana-Nigeria relations. Bless |

Efewestern:Bla bla bla and there goes the Nigerian again. Weren't you flaring the gas before. Since when did Nigeria start producing electricity from her own gas. I am saying your people down south can just get angry and blast a pipeline and this affects my country. A group of people can go on strike anytime they feel like and then choose to vandalize and destroy a gas pipeline and boom Ghana is affected, no compensation nothing. in short what i am saying is you pretend to be supplying gas and we also pretend to pay. its simple. You are not smarter. I am very happy you brought the issue of population. With our size and little wealth we still school and feed your students who troop into our country in drove- i mean the Senior High School. When i was teaching during my National service way back in 2009 i could count at least 15 Nigerian students in my school alone. Just wen the free SHS was started last year, go and check the number of Nigerian students in Ghanaian secondary schools all for free. Are we also doing you a favor? answer that. I am also happy you talk about your "useless leader" in your own words. Please they are not useless. They should just humble themselves and learn from Ghana instead of insulting us. Your leaders insult us more than we insult you. Buhari: "i will help Ghana fight corruption" is this not insult. You still call a bag Ghana must go.. is this not insult. When your leaders says the "entire water generated by Ghana is not enough to flash toilet in Lagos" on radio, is this not insult. Look I dont want to go further. You can check all i am saying for your self. Was it not your leaders who ban Ghanaian goods from entering Nigeria and gave the reason that most of the goods are made in China and brought to Ghana so they can get easy way into Nigeria and that Ghana produces nothing. What an insult. Meanwhile your goods where ever they are manufactured come into Ghana unhindered so far as you will pay the necessary taxes or duties. Was it not your country leaders that stopped or prevented a Ghanaian airline from obtaining licence to operate in Nigeria, while your own airline obtained a licence and operates in Ghana without any hindrance. There's sooo much i can say, and no i am not make it up. you can check online. I am quite busy i would have given you the links. In fact I sometimes feel we have been too lenient with you. We dont have anything against you, I can vouch for that. But we will not accept any form of insult from you. Nigerian banks are not doing anybody any favor, they saw an opportunity and chose to go for it. We chose to deregulate our banking industry and allowed others including foreign banks from Nigeria. We did not beg them. But ask yourself how deregulate is your banking industry, to what extent will you allow foreign banks from Ghana to participate. think about it. No one is holding a gun at you head to stay in Ecowas. If you think it is not serving your purpose and interest you know what to do right... I repeat Ghana is your best friend and most trusted partner whether you like or not. Most of your leaders KNOW this. Especially in a region where we are both surrounded by French controlled West Africa. Nigeria cannot risk ever turning a blind eye or cut ties with Ghana. By now Ghana and Nigeria should have been organizing military drills on the gulf of Guinea like what US does with other EU countries- to prove to France and the West that we are on top of issues in the region. This could have made them think twice when venturing into the affairs of Francophone countries. But what do we see... A Nigeria that feels they are better than everybody, and even thinking of invading a sister nation and they say they want to join the UN security council. A Nigeria with an over bloated ego that is not willing to shut up, humbling itself and learn and now look at what France and USA is turning the region into. |
Efewestern:You said all this about Ghana, ain't you even happy Ghana buys your petroleum petroleum products. Its business and good customers are treated well. We are are not doing you any favor by from you any more than you do us any favor by selling to us. We can always buy from somewhere just us you can also sell to anyone, but mind you Ghana is your biggest partner in the region, whether you like it or not. Dont let us get angry by looking elsewhere for our gas. Also take into consideration the fact that you have cut gas supply to us, simply a result of strike or attack on gas pipelines by your people. This affected us and should have triggered a legal action but we said hey what are brothers for. so you too chill. You are not doing us any favor. You can ask your leaders. |
What?? Is this my country- Ghana, that you just taken to the cleaners. Why do you Nigerians feel the need to always insult Ghana to feel better about yourself. You always quote Ghanaian leaders just to get the reason to bash Ghana, well continue if you think that will make you feel better. I have heard some of your high profile officials say really terrible things about Ghana, and its rather unfortunate the youth of today are following in the same footsteps. @SSGN I dont know how old you are but if you ask your elders and they will be candid with you, they will tell you Ghana's pedegree. Greatness- at least by African standards is in our genes. It comes by grace, we dont beg Africa and world for respect and acceptance. Its just theer. I will never say Ghana is better than Nigeria... no. But certainly no sane person will dare say Nigeria with all their huge population and wealth is better than Ghana. That should tell you something. I know you Nigerians always marvel at our exploits. You wonder "how a country the population of lagos-as you always refer to as if thats the only state in your country- is doing great and has so much balls". well like i told you we are destined for greatness. You ask what has Ghana done for Nigeria. Did you ask this question? You really asked this question dude? How are you. The question should have been what has Ghana done for Africa? yes Africa. With a population of just about 5 million people Ghana was able to get the whole of black Africa including your Nigeria to see the evil of colonialism and the tranquility in freedom and self rule. What has Nigeria the largest black nation been able to rally the race to do. you can tell us if you want. You have not even been able to get the whole west Africa behind you. As big as Nigeria is she should be able to for instance get China to do so much for us (West Africa) by getting those 16 or so countries to all recognize Taiwan. Its a political game you Nigerians cant play. We in Ghana cant play that either but if we had your size and wealth you know .... another example. Ghana cofounded the Non Aligned Movement and got almost all black Africans to it. This is just one of Ghanas legacy to Africa unlike you who created fathered 100s of thousands of children in Liberia. I dare you to leave the Non Aligned Movement. Dont tell me Nigeria leads peacekeeping efforts in West Africa or Africa, because almost all countries can do that for instance Senegal led west African forces to oust Yahya Jammeh, so stop taking credit for what we all did. Ghana has led UN missions in Africa and across the world (Lebanon). Ghana was the only African country with an Aviation unit in Mali. As for what we have done for Nigeria you know already. We help you get what you will never get from anybody and not even billions of barrels of oil can buy- a united Nigeria. You can ask your forefathers about the Aburi Accord. you leaders know this so they know how meaningful their relation to Ghana is. Nkrumah after helping your independence struggle brought you to Ghana and united you as one nation. But as kids as your leaders were they went back and fought killing millions and today you sit behind your computer and say Nigeria can invade Ghana. well let me just tell you this Nigeria cannot ever invade Ghana, not even in Buharis dreams. If you doubt me why dont you try it. We all know how you won the Biafra war. We wont invade Nigeria... in fact we cant. As always we have a better ways. We will just empower the Biafrans to fight for freedom. I am daring you why dont you try the invasion. And someone said Ghana owe Nigeria money. My friend wake up this is 2018. That money was used to finance our part of the gas pipeline. because you are really the ones that need need. Ghana is the biggest buyer of your oil in the subregion. you dont give it out for free. ask your leaders. you dont also give us electricity. we produce it ourselves. We supply other countries electricity just like you and its not free neither are we doing them any favor. These two countries can work together to move the region forward. lets do and stop beating your chest at Ghana. WE ARE BIGGER THAN THAT. WE ARE YOUR BIG BROTHER JUST KEEP QUIET AND LEARN. Forgive for any typos. |
It amazes me how Nigerians think they rule west Africa. They show this attitude in their dealings and attitudes towards other Africans. They belittle virtually everybody except their own gross and massive stupidity. They believe that it is divinely ordained upon them to supervise other African nations simply because they have a huge population of a certain race. All the things they claim to have done to "liberate" other countries were equally done by other countries. Talk of South Africa. Almost all African countries helped. Countries like Ghana did equally well... Issuing of passports etc, Even the SA government knows this. They claim they helped restore democracy in Gambia, Sierra Leone when it was a joint Ecowas force. There's so much I can mention. Aside all this brazen disrespect for the efforts and contribution of other countries they dream of occupying a a permanent seat in UN. As I type this Nigeria is not even among the top countries that contribute troops to the UN. Now instead of cementing well their relationship with their most trusted and closest ally in the subregion- Ghana. No they will rather look down and spit on them. They lack the same respect that they expect to earn from their neighbors. You can observe this from the original post. They call a nation that is 3 years older than them younger brother. This shows the educational level of their leaders. There are alot I can correct in this post but I will live that for reasonable human to deduct the cold facts and truths from the falsehood, distorted facts and propaganda. Anyway good luck with your endeavors. If your country feels they can achieve superiority by spitting on others especially Ghana, well good luck with that. Ghana can be to Nigeria what the Uk is to US. That is if your leaders are smart to enough to know. Thank you |
Look guys.. I am Ghanaian. And I fully support Buhari on this. Please forgive my compatriots. There's so much Ghana can learn from Buhari especially in the oil industry. Don't arrested criminals help the police with investigations and new tricks and technics. And you Nigerians stop insulting your president. It used to be like this for Ghana, where we used to insult our president in foreign lands but I think the populace have realize the damage it does to the country. But its changing now. And Nigeria can learn from this too. Also to correct some impressions most Nigerian have. Nigeria does not supply us electricity they rather supply gas which Ghana uses to produce electricity. If you think gas equals electricity then try connecting your electricity cables to your lpg cylinder, without any other equipment. And others say we hate Nigeria, please we don't. This like my first post on nairaland. Hope I am welcomed. God bless Ghana, Nigeria and Africa... Peace to you all. |
What are you saying.... That Ghana looks up to Nigeria, since when. Hahahahahahhaaaa... I laugh in Yoruba. Pls Nigerians get off your high horses ok... When the whole of black Africa was looking up to Ghana, where was Nigeria. Yes there are things we can learn from each other. But to think Ghana looks up to Nigeria is the highest form of delusion. We love Nigeria tho. |
