hi people, I did a change of name during my screening in august 2014, and i was issued an authority to pay bearing my new name but when my portal was open on ui site, I still found my old name written on it. I made payment for hostel and all the document for hostel clearance bears a different surname from what was on school authority to pay, I already called ui help desk and they told me to come to ui mis department for correction. can I be cleared with those document that bears my old name and the authority to pay that bears a different surname

Passing..............

Unilorin is just connection! Even if u score 290 in jamb n 80% in putme or above without having "longer legs" u know what i mean, u won't get admitted.*sad* buh d truth.

Jez read to have a good scores, pray like never b4 and "common" search 4 means to make your "leg longer" and u'l get admitted.

Good luck 2 you and i also
I am a graduate of unilorin, studied chemistry and finished 2013; as at the time of my graduation, people who scored 220 in a particular course and scored 70% were sent a text confirming their admission into there desired course on merit while others in the range of 60s were offered admission in the second round others are legging and departmental decisions, a year after I left even people who scored 80% DE, and lots of 70 were not given their desired course but were admitted, there were lots of legging mind you those who legged it also scored high marks to get their desired course but in 2009 when i got admitted in unilorin, there was nothing like merit on unilorin admission list, its pure legging. people with unusually low score like 40s were admitted but mosted were unable to do the school screening.I was admitted on 3rd list. So my conclusion is unilorin does not lay strict emphasis on merit as there are too many students with equally excellent mark; who you know plays a great role. dont forget we dont strike but the rushing makes our system harsh and for this reason many people often face tanke. I am currently a fresher in UI studying MLS becuz as a graduate of chemistry I feel empty and un fulfilled. but I was developed to cope with stress and reason fast but chemistry too bloody difficult and frustrating lecturers like Alafara (physical. chemistry- mettallurgy(, dr mrs abdul raheem(quantum. chemistry ) prof Eke( theory of molecular spectroscopy), prof Odebunmi (reaction kinetics)and some illiterate puppet like mubarak ameen( stereochemistry ). dr Usman (natural product) is tough but very gud. prof adekola (analytical chemistry)is gud but too intelligent to teach. prof Obaleye (coordination chemistry)is gud but too busy to teach. Olatunji- organic synthesis ( current deputy VC academics) is also good but still believe we are bloody chemist. I thank God anyway, I managed to finish with a cgpa of 3.55 which is second class upper. but passion has driven me further to go and study my dream course. mind you unilorin is still a very good school, people still excell even in stressful conditions like I did, a friend of mine was the faculty Scholar, he studied statistics and the other was also a faculty Scholar but came second in science overall , he studied micro biology others were in bio chemistry and mathematics, they were all first class students so no excuse for the faint hearted.

I applied for pharmacy. no admission offered. medical lab is very professional and you can stand alone. work is easy to get with it. but chemistry though not bad is not professional. to enjoy chemistry u have to study upto phd but you can be so lucky to work in industry alternatively to an industrial chemist. all the job I see with chemistry are just teaching for now.

when u do what you love- u do what u desire most . u are doing it because it was what u love.I love chemistry, I picked chemistry as my first choice, I was admitted to study chemistry. I there4 do chemistry which is what I love. I have no knowledge of biology but i love chemistry. I was admitted to study biology instead of what i love but along the way i picked interest in biology and today i love what i study. here u love what u now do. interest has shift to biology. u love doing biology because u now develop interest in it even thou it was chemistry that u love but now youre not doing what you love, u love what you do.
THE Difference BETWEEN THE TWO IS" SHIFT OR CHANGE OF INTEREST

I applied once at unilorin, had 2:1, I finished from unilorin, I had 64% in their postutme but not offered admission, I was later told chemistry is no longer among the course they consider for medicine. that statement was from the current DVC academics of unilorin.( prof. Olatunji of chemistry department ), so i decided to go through jamb here in ui and now nothing. I also applied through de but pharmacy instead, just hope sth positive will come out of it.

All the 78% just in seconds disappeared, I already have bsc in chemistry, just wish to study medicine but now I had to fall back on another course which I did five years ago and eventually earn me chemistry and not medicine. marc9 do u advice I change or just walk away and try again later?

my advice to everyone is- let's keep calm, cut off will be release, it will definitely favour us, as long as you score 50% above youre qualify thou it may not be your dream course, there is a unique offer in courses we do not want atimes but as we rise in it, our understanding increases, then your choices could be made but if you insist you want your dream course, next year is another jamb, keep trying, you may hit your target someday but dont waste time. see you all in ui!
EducationRe: University Of Ibadan 2014/15 Admission Process.... by mayojaspa(m): 1:16pm On Aug 26, 2014
Guys, let us reason together, if the difference between 80 and 90 is just 10, a candidate emerges the best with 90, 6 candidate with 88, we can predict from this that for every +_1. of candidate score within the score
80-90, there exist 10 candidates with the same score, we have 1-90, 6-88, 70-(87-80), making a total of 77 candidate for mb bs with capacity 120, with 43 candidate space available. 90 is the highest and 12 the lowest then the score range is 78, pass mark is 50. there are 28 possible distribution of candidates score line from 50-90, can the cut off be set above the score range ? its possible! but from the figure available, possible cut off point should be around the 70s possibly not 70, most probable 75, technically 80.
