Happy Independence Day to everyone In the last three posts, I talked about some common ways many job seekers are used to searching for jobs and why they don’t work. If you miss part one, two or three of this post, then you can read them at https://www.nairaland.com/1903613/how-got-job-just-two, https://www.nairaland.com/1905569/how-got-job-just-two and https://www.nairaland.com/1907179/how-got-job-just-two But now, I’m done with that and I will dive straight into how I play my job hunting game and win in grand style getting my dream job in just two weeks and causing employers to keep chasing me all around with calls just to make me come down and work for them. Now without wasting much time, we go.... Ever ask yourself this question – How do I get the job of my dream? If you have ever ask yourself or anyone this question before, then I’ve got an answer for you and this isn’t just any answer but a smart one to help you land that job of your dream. And have you ever think of not getting just a job but the job that suits you and the job you have always dream of? Forget what anyone has told you before that you need to settle for just a job you can get all because it’s competitive out there in the job market. But damn that believe! You can get the job of your dream and not just any job; here are just 3 smart steps to help you land that job of your dream. Over the past few years, I have successfully get the job I want even in a field that isn’t the one I’m used to or have any prior experience and qualification for. But if you ask me, all I’ve done and I will do if if I need any job today is all enshrined in a 3 step strategy and I will be dealing with each of the 3 steps one by one and I will also be adding lessons you need to learn from each steps. Step 1: Ask Yourself What You Can Do: Forget about what you CV says or what you learn in school, nowadays, many are doing great at a field that is entirely different from what they study in college. Look inside you, what is that thing you can do and that one thing you can do best without any supervision or external motivation? Can you write, draw or do you like balancing the books? That’s just the point. All I’m saying here is what you know you can do well. And if you are good at what you study in school, then that’s just all you need. The idea behind knowing what you can do is that you need to differentiate yourself from the rest of job seeker out there who just like shooting their CV all around for just any job they can get around. You’ve got to be a smart job seeker and by doing so, you aren’t like everyone who think they need to shoot all the star of job openings around before they can get that super star of their dream job which in essence gives a false feeling of doing something when in reality, they are doing nothing or better still, doing less. Not every job will be yours and you can’t be qualified for all jobs, but by knowing what exactly you can do well, you can save yourself some time to really focus on the job that fits into what you can do and other jobs that aren’t a fit for you are just simply ignored. And if you like to know – not all employers wants your service. So why don’t you go for those employer that needs what you can do? Lesson To Learn 4: One of the most common and wasteful thing every job seekers are used to is applying for every jobs they can get either from the many online job search sites or even classified job ads in newspaper and magazines etc. Ask me about this and I will tell you that this is a great and one big mistake that any job seeker can make. Maybe the popular thinking that by applying for every job around, the number game comes to play and the chances of getting a job at the end is increased but if anyone sit down and analysis this well, then you will realized that doing this has been the major reason why many aren’t yet without a job because all you can succeed in doing with this is just wasting time and energy on applying for jobs that you are either not qualified for or having more job seekers applying for the same job than even the HR manager can manage to check before deciding on who is the best fit for the job. I’ve once devoted episodes of Your Career And You Show to this subject and I can go on and on till tomorrow to explain why applying for every job and scattering and submitting CVs all around is just a waste of time but a quick visit to the links below will help you understand better why you should stop playing the number game by applying for every job and shooting your CV all around the places. Episode 13: Common Time Wasters Stopping You From Getting A Job – 3 : http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/13-common-time-wasters-stopping-you-from-getting-a-job-3 Episode 12: Common Time Wasters Stopping You From Getting A Job – 2 : http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/12-common-time-wasters-stopping-you-from-getting-a-job-2 Episode 11: Common Time Wasters Stopping You From Getting A Job : http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/11-common-time-wasters-stopping-you-from-getting-a-job and Q&A : How Can You Get The Right Type Of Job And Ways You Can Get It Fast : http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/how-can-you-get-the-right-type-of-job-and-ways-you-can-get-it-fast And maybe if you are asking what you should do instead of sending your CV and application all around in response to all job openings you can get around, then don’t worry too much as I will be dealing with that soon . So let’s move forward Step 2: Ask Yourself Where What You Can Do Is Needed: Fine, you already know what you can do and that is one thing you have done differently from many other job seeker out there. What next for you is to ask yourself where what you can do is needed? It’s all simple like that. You can write? Fine, don’t you think a newspaper or media house will be interested in what you can do? Or maybe balancing the books is all you can do well and you know inside yourself that you can become another Akintola Williams, who do you think will require your services and all you can do? Those accounting firms around you are all the answer to your question and what else is stopping you from landing that job of your dream in that accounting firm? Look around you and you will see many firms, companies and organization that need that one thing you can do well and these places are just where you dream job is hiding. Won’t you just go there and remove that sucking veil from the face of your dream job from these places? But before you do that, read what I’m about to tell you next. Lesson To Learn 5: Getting the job you want anytime you want it shouldn’t be so hard if only you can know what you can offer employers and also locating those employers that need what you can offer. It’s just as simple as this. But let me explain... Forget about what your CV reads the grade you graduated with in school or all the degrees and awards you’ve had over the years and even all the work experience you have gathered over the years. Forget it, employers aren’t concerned about all these and even you as well! Yes, you read that well, they aren’t concerned about you! All what they are concerned about is “What Is In For Them” or simply what they can get from you and if you can play their favourite station – WIIFm that is “What Is In For Me”, then you are the guy that will always have the job you want at anytime. One thing employers and HR Manager want to know is what you can do for them and that is why I mentioned knowing what you can do as your Step Number One to get the job of your dream. Over the years, I’ve perfected the art and act of fishing out what the employer I would like to work for want and needs and how I met those needs and offer value to them in exchange for them taking care of my bills every month and that has been a secret that many job seekers will never know but here now, I’m revealing that to you and now, it’s no more a secret unless you are still waiting for an angel to come down and tell you this before you know that it’s all you need to hear and know to help you get the job of your dream soon. And after pinning down what value you can offer to your prospective employers, all you need is to fish out who your prospective employers are and I must say this is just the solution to the problem of you shooting your CV all around for any job you can get. The rule of job search has changed and instead of the old way of sending you job application and CV in respond to all jobs you can get with the hope that you will one day be lucky to get a job out of those many jobs you are applying for never works again but instead you should be laser focused on what you want – I mean that specific value you can add to employer’s life, the exact job that fit into what you can do as well as those specific employers who need what you have to offer. Now with that, let’s dive into the third step which is really where the job is but before that, I will leave you with links to some useful posts and past episodes of Your Career And You Show that dealt with this issue. Episode 10: One Question You Need To Ask Yourself To Help You Land A Job Fast And Easily : http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/one-question-you-need-to-ask-yourself-to-help-you-land-a-job-fast-and-easily Episode 7: 5 Things You Should Be Doing If You’re Unemployed : http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/ycay7 Episode 6: 2 Unusual Job Search Strategies That Work : http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/ycay6 Episode 5: The Secret Of The Hidden Job Market : http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/ycay5 I will be ending this post here and in the next pat of these posts, I will deal with the third step as well as some other useful tips and lessons that will help you land the job you want easily and faster. Immortalz: @op: mind sharing your email? You can send me a PM. Too much knocks i guess might surface for posting my email here. But yoy can also reach me via my contact page on my blog |
oladayo042: Seriously, do you need to create another thread for Part 2?Maybe and maybe not Hindsight is 50/50 anyway. But if you ask me,i have never played the game of competing for job or any other thing i want as much as i can manage to get a way not to compete but get what i want in a smarter and better way. Call me a contrarian and you might be right but as long as it's working for me,i won't bother about it. The thread is not for everyone i must say - if it's too long and verbose as you said, then you are free to click away and again, you are free not to read my blog - infact,i don't want everyone to do so,just only people with open mind who won't mind to listen to a reality way beyond what they are used to. Thanks for dropping by anyway |

Here is part 3 of the thread at https://www.nairaland.com/1907179/how-got-job-just-two |
Welcome back… In the past two parts of this, I’ve been sharing some golden tips about the job hunting process, why many job seekers are finding it difficult to get a job and the deep breakdown of ways many are looking for jobs today and why they just don’t work leaving many stranded in the jungle of frustration and unemployment and even that of under-employment. If you miss part one and/or two of this post, then you can read them at https://www.nairaland.com/1903613/how-got-job-just-two and https://www.nairaland.com/1905569/how-got-job-just-two Ok, let get started now... I will be examining another way many are looking for jobs today and why they don’t work. 2. Networking And “Long Legging”: This is one common job searching technique that many job seekers believe to be the best way to get a job. Many today believe that if they know someone who is influential and is in a top position of power, then getting a job won’t be so hard for them but when we really gather the statistic of how many job seekers that are really “connected” get a job through this so called connections, then we will be surprised that the number will be so few than we can ever think of. I always love to say that there are two types of job seekers – the “Know person” group and the “know God” group. I must say the “know God” group constitute the bigger portion of the whole pack and I am a member of this group despite the fact that I have some well-connected aunts and uncles who would have been a blessing to anyone to get a job but they just won’t seems to help out when it’s needed most. The problem with networking and waiting for the long legs to get a job is that many who ought to help out aren’t really ready to help and even it takes a heck of time to even get the right “connection” to really get a job. Also, for the millions of the “know God” group who never knew anyone big enough to give them a job with their “long legs”, this isn’t a way to go about searching for a job. Yes, miracle do happen but I will never bet on any happening when I can be smarter and make my own miracle out of doing what many won’t even think of doing when searching for a job. Lesson To Learn 3: You don’t need to know anyone influential to get a job. All you need to know is yourself and the best value you can add to people’s life as well as that of prospective employers and that’s enough to help get the job you have been waiting for since all these days. I really talked about this in details in one of My Online Dhow Episode and you can download the episode via the link below as well as read some of my old posts that dealt with this as well. Episode 10: One Question You Need To Ask Yourself To Help You Land A Job Fast And Easily : http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/one-question-you-need-to-ask-yourself-to-help-you-land-a-job-fast-and-easily Episode 14: The Best Way To Get A Job : http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/the-best-way-to-get-yourself-a-job Q&A : How Can You Get The Right Type Of Job And Ways You Can Get It Fast : http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/how-can-you-get-the-right-type-of-job-and-ways-you-can-get-it-fast in essence if you don’t know anyone or have any uncle or aunt or oga “at the top”, then you need not worry as you I ‘m happy to tell you that you can easily get any job you want for yourself by just doing things different and been smart with it and you will soon find out just how I keep getting the job I want when I want it and how you can do the same as well. 3. Other Ways You Might Think Of: There are lots of other ways many job seekers are used to which might be too numerous to mention here but I will briefly mention some. Cold Calling For Jobs – Yes, this works but the problem with it is how many job seekers are using this wonderful way of getting a job in the wrong way that always resulted in the same old story of endless and frustrating long job hunting distress. Using Recruiters And Job Agency – I’ve had the opportunity to work briefly with one of these agencies who make money from linking job seekers and employers together but I can happily tell everyone that using the services of these recruiting firms most time as just pure waste of time and also another way job seekers spend money down the drain. The reason I hate this method is that you are leaving all your job hunting job to someone who won’t really know what you want as well as what you need and it’s kind of lazy to leave what you ought to do for someone else who have thousands of other people to cater for as well as having that primary aim of making money off your job hunting problem. You are better off spending the money you would have pay all these agencies on cloths than waste your time and energy and money on these recruiters who mostly will succeed in getting you a job that never worth your time at all. This will be the third part of this post. If you have any job search or career related question you will like to ask me, then feel free to shoot me your question at http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/questions and also you will find each episode of my weekly job search online show at http://www.youracareerandyou.com/category/podcast useful as well as my Question And Answer section at http://www.yourcareerandyou.com/category/job-search-questions-and-answers where I answer questions I keep getting about how to get a job Catch you here again for part four of this career and life changing post... |
Morning! For every knocks and kudos since i started this thread, thanks for all. I have posted part two of this thread at https://www.nairaland.com/1905569/how-got-job-just-two. I expect more of knocks more than kudos anyway and it's no big deal but lesson 1 and 2 is right there in the second part of the thread and it's up to everyone to get pick what they want out of the whole tread - useful lessons or cynicism. Thanks. |
This is the second part of my story of my dream job in just two weeks as well as my useful tips, advices and strategies to help you land the job of your dream in just a short time without wasting time, energy and money again. If you miss part one of this post, then you can read it at How I Got A Job In Just Two Weeks - My Story And Lessons Learn 1 at https://www.nairaland.com/1903613/how-got-job-just-two Here we go... I stopped in the last post where I said that I decided to find a better way of finding a job without going through everything my mates that has started their job hunting way before I decided to go get a job. Before this, I’ve been an online addicts and i consumed a lot of information online via books, blog posts, YouTube videos and audio podcast like the one I produced weekly – Your Career And You Show at http://www.youracareerandyou.com/category/podcast and one day i was re-reading Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and I just stumbled on the story of a woman who helped her son get a job as a sales VP at the company he like to work for and I was so surprised that after reading the book many time before that time, I never really noticed that page in the book but that simple story triggered a kind of utopia inside me and I just keep reading that page many times and later went online to search for the term “hidden job market” which was briefly mentioned in the story and that Google Search started my journey to what I will call today my wonderful job hunting stories. Lesson To Learn 1: One saying goes like this – “If you want to keep a secret from a black man, hide it inside a book”. This shows how many of us are just busy in life doing what we like without learning much from books and other source of knowledge and wisdom. I’m not talking about the stupid and silly textbooks we read in school which are just pure useless for us in the real life we find ourselves now but useful books written by many who has took their time to compile all the know and their experience into a books, videos, podcasts, blog post and so on. The foundation of my successful job hunting stories started from reading and re-reading a book that has been written and published many years before my father was even born and if you haven’t read Think And Grow Rich before or you haven’t re-read it again and again with notes taken down by you, then go now to the nearest bookstore to get a copy – it shouldn’t be more than a few hundred Naira. So in essence, my first tips to take away from this threads is for you to cultivate the habit of finding, consuming and acting on information via books, videos, podcasts, blog post, forums and any other medium you can learn from. I’m today vast in so many thing and you are right to call me a jack of all trade who is master of all – I’m a writer, blogger, audio and video podcaster, author, website programmer, social media and Internet Marketing expert and so on and not a single skill mentioned here was taught be someone – I learn everything through been curious about how to do things and finding the right information about what I want and trying it out according to what I’ve learned. Cultivating this habit will help a lot not only with your career life but also in every area and aspects of your life. What I Learn From Think And Grow Rich On How Best To Search For Jobs Re-reading this book taught me a lot about how best to get a job. But before I go on with what I learn to be the best way of searching for a job, let me mention some common ways that many job seeker are used to today to hunt for jobs and why they never works and why they are just a pure waste of time that has helped many job seekers today land inside that frustrating pit of despair of sitting at home without a job and even money to enjoy life. 1. Online Job Sites: Almost every job seeker in Nigeria today is used to the many job search sites that keep springing up today. Infact, as a shrewd internet marketer and online entrepreneur, if I need quick cash and the ego that goes into having a popular website to call mine, creating a job search site will be a good use of my time and money and you can take a trip to Google and search for the term “Online job search sites in Nigeria” and watch the loads of website Google will return to you that is today dedicated to supplying job vacancies and openings online to job seekers. Mind you, I’m not against any online job search site and to even say the truth, I’ve enjoyed working with the second most popular one in Nigeria – NgCareers.com when I was starting YouCareerAndYou.com and it’s a lovely partnership where I broadcast each episode of my online career and job search show – Your Career And You Show to their numerous subscribers but I must say that many job seekers are just wasting time responding to all the many jobs people keep posting on these sites. Infact, I’ve once experimented with using these job search portals to get a job and after three months of intentionally devoting time to experiment with this, all I got back are loads of job interviews that later turn out to be a bogus job and many of them are even scams that will request me to pay for one thing or the other before I can get a job and the few that aren’t like this are just jobs that will pay me a measly monthly salary in exchange for taking over my time from 8 am to maybe 5 pm daily and I will rather sleep every day than to take up any of those silly jobs I was offered during the time of my experiment. In short, only like 20% of the job posted on these websites is a good fit for you and out of these 20%, only like 10% are jobs that you can have any chances of getting because of stiff and serious competition for those jobs from other job seekers like you. And before you apply for any job again using these sites, ask yourself the likely number of other job seekers who need that same jobs who will be reading that job posting at these highly trafficked websites with thousands of subscribers in their database just like you. Sincerely, I hate competition and I will rather find a way to bypass competition with anyone for jobs than spending my time running after jobs that have thousands of other job seekers having their eyes on the job leaving me with the so called “luck” factor to be the one that gets the job. Lesson To Learn 2: One of the reasons why many are without a job today is the fact that they are unknowingly preparing themselves and packaging themselves for failure with their job hunting efforts with the way they are searching for job today. As an illustration, let assume that I saw an advert on these job search sites for an IT job in a medium sized IT firm in Lagos. Let now guess the number of other job seekers who are seeing the same adverts – maybe 500,a thousand or 2000 to even be conservative. Now, let say we have 1000 other Computer Graduate who want the same job and will apply for it just like I will do as well. What will be the probability of me getting the job out of all those other 1000 IT graduates? That’s simply 1/1000 or 0.0001 which to anyone who went through basic primary school is a very poor ratio to bet anything on or count on it for anything. The only one that will want to count on this silly low ratio to get a job is that one who really believe so much in luck which from experience is only a matter of doing the right thing at the right time so that you will be well prepared when the right moment or opportunity knocks. With this silly ratio and chance of getting the job you want out of the pool of numerous other job seekers, many job seekers keep repeating this on and on and you shouldn’t be surprised why many job seekers who are reading this and doing this every day are still without a job. In essence, the common way that many are using to search for jobs today are just a pure waste of time simply because of the sole reason that the competition resulting from this method is a great disadvantage on its own leaving many playing the lucky game of praying and waiting for a job after applying for those jobs together with thousands even millions of other job seekers (for those so called popular and lucrative job opening that everyone want to have). Rather than playing this luck game and waiting for months and even years for the job god to smile at you and get you a job, every job seekers should go the better and smarter way of creating their own luck and be in control of the job hunting battle rather than giving all the control to employers who can decide to do as they like and choose anyone they want because the demand is just too way too much than the supply of the openings available. During the course of this thread, you will learn this one smarter alternative to playing this luck game. I’ve had this issue dealt with in past episodes of my weekly career and job search online show – Your Career And You Show and if you will like to learn more about why searching for jobs in this way is a pure waste of time and what you should do instead, you can download each episodes below. NairaMode: Great!Friends! - the last of the list before the etc |
opeano: of coz i drink, show me someone on earth that dont drink and I will show You a dead man. I wake up early to take warm water, drink water or beverage after breakfast, lunch and then I drink orange Juice before dinner. I drink a lot, but nothing alcoholic find its way to my lipsBoss! You got me there. I drink, mean like what you have never see before - like too much of water. |
NairaMode: Well would love to learn something. Thanks for that comment. Variety they said is the spice of life. Thanks God,someone like you is here to learn.. Just will like to correct the say that I know what someone don't know - that's not fair. There is nothing new or special or secret in this, just that people won't see to it and use it. It's all an expanded version of a chapter in Think and Grow Rich. 3 years ago when I want my dream job and never want to spend too much time to get it knowing I don't know anyone,I read the book and implemented what is inside and it worked not once, twice but thrice. Well, maybe I am replying too much to people's comment. That might be bad - maybe a NL rule and I don't know as this is my first thread on NL. I deal with people - clients, customers, friends etc daily and I am used to addressing people's concern the way I think is appropriate. I'm just enjoying NL and why not spend some free time on it- life is too short to not enjoy every moment of it. Cheers! |
prettyboi1989: Can't ya'll read the signs? He wants to sell an ebook so hez looking for a way to promote the link to his ebook. That's if dere is anything meaningful in the ebook. U claimed u got a job within 2wiks yet u want to sell ebook on how u got the job, are they not paying u well where u got the job? So y u looking 4 some small change? Dis guy is a ripoff. Please keep your money inside your wallet or pocket or whatsoever because I don't need your money for anything,I'm ok with what I have and never need any small change you are used to paying some funny gurus with nothing to say than "buy my book" that you think I am. I am not a guru, just sharing my story for anyone who care to listen. I sacked my boss when I got bored of the job I opted for out of the two I got so I am my own boss 2 years down the road and I have what I do to make a living that's profitable and OK for me than the change you think I want to get from you. A ripoff to me is someone who have exhibited a scammy prowess and thank Goodness you can't find any link where I mentioned a book for sale. I am here for open minded people Nigerians to share from what I have leaned and what I see as something job seekers are doing wrong. Anyway, these at least are no secret, any open minded being who have read Think and Grow Rich will know this secret. Save yourself the time to leave such unwarranted comment, buy the book and open your mind to what Mr Hill has to say about a woman who got a dream job for his son. The money I don't want that you think I want to collect from this thread will have a better use buying the book and at least, you can trust a legend like him than a random guy that I am. |
bosun11: observing and waiting for part 2......Ensure its staright to the point and made of quality and not quantity ...thanks for sharing in advanceSure. Quality? Yes and Quantity? Yes,because 1) 7 Whole lessons that i can't avoid to just touch and give a brief one with and 2) My writing style is the epic content one where 1500 words is just the start of what i called an Epic S**t! Kindly Google the term "epic S**t" (without the **) and you will know what i am talking about. Anyway, you are assured of getting the best. I have the whole post on my podcast blog but i don't want to share any link here again for the fear of chasing some people away...lolz |
opeano: .Thanks. I have an audience and a following online and this is an habit i have learned anyway as i am naturally an aggressive guys - ladies i am in love with knows this better..lol To build an audience online and to teach anything,it requires having patience as we all look at things in different ways. Some might see another NL bulls**t thread and others will see something that need a listening attention so it's no problem having such initial knocks. Do you drink? i think i need to buy you a beer. PS: I don't drink - it's just a popular cliche to say thank you! lolzz |
francleanflexy: actually he does.Smiles and thanks! |
Immortalz: @Op: I don't want to blame my pals for their doubtedness, jst like u mentioned 9ja rules. It really doesn't mean i don't have my doubt too but then its all about learning. Whicheva way it pans out to be, i'll be sure to have gained smfing.Great minds here and i am super stoked about that. I think i have a problem. I am used to blogging and writing for international audience and seems i am learning how to deal with my country men here as opposed to the open mindedness i am used to when i am dealing and writing for people who are not Nigerians like me. I love the way you mentioned that learning is key which gladdens my heart that someone out there at least see it the way it ought to be. Cheers Brother! |
jnrbayano: You sound reasonable and honest. Thanks so much. You won't know what such comment means in the midst of some unwarranted hard knocks here already all because they feel this is yet another BS line on NL. Anyway,i understand why this is so - at least,i remember say na Naija we dey where fakes are even louder than the small and unheard real stuffs. You won't be disappointed with the second part and the rest as from tomorrow. Cheers! |
Skii: when do you intend to post part 2?Sure. The second part will be posted tomorrow and the rest will also be posted a day after the other. Thanks |
idu1: Infact he doesn't have anything to post. He is a hopless human being. With all due respect, click away if you think this is not good for you and don't call names. I am only writing this for someone out there who will see beyond a hopeless guy writing another BS story on NL and it all with an open mind. |
francleanflexy: i wanted to leave the thread without commenting but on a second thought i decided against it.Thanks for that too. Maybe my writing sucks - well, maybe and if so,that's cool by me. One,I am sharing something I know will benefit someone other there who is ready to see something beyond what he or she is used to with job search in the past. Two,this is just the first part of the 6-part series and I will be posting the second part tomorrow. the whole post is about 9,000 word and I will never want to jam that in one single post. So see the second part tomorrow where I started all the lessons I want to share before you can say I am sharing nothing here. Three,I don't need your money and I am not selling you anything. So please know that I am not pitching anything to anyone. All I am doing is sharing some great stuffs that I know someone out there who is ready to use it to change their job search stories. Four,I am not writing this for everyone - I understand that even Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammad (PBHM) were all castigated as God's messengers and why will a mere mortal like me expect something better. I just feel I need to make this known to everyone who are like what the heck is this guy saying here? Thanks and cheers! |
Evergreen4: Mayor, please post the salient points, don't let story to be too long.I understand the need for urgency with this kind of posts but I think it's better to split this into sizeable chunks of 6 parts rather than posting all the over 9,000 words thread all at once. I will post the second part in the 6-series tomorrow and those point will start from that. I think you should wait till the second part before you should nail me of not giving all the salient point in this first part Thanks for your suggestion anyway,I really appreciate it |
rman: From the few information provided by you, you are one of the privileged few with connections. Your story will be better appreciated if it coming from a completely unconnected graduate. Thanks for that. But I think you get it all wrong. I am never a guy who have any connection whatsoever. I knew nobody although I served in a Fed Govt agency which was a result of knowing someone there just by talking the courage to approach them and see if I can serve there. I am writing from the point of view of someone who have no connection or have a long leg and someone who took his destiny in his hand to do the hard job of thinking outside the box and do what many job seekers won't do which is simply finding what exactly those firms need and the pain they are having as well as giving them enough reasons why they will lose if they don't hire me. This is just a part in the 6-part series I will be posting each day and by tomorrow when I post the second part, you will understand what I am talking about. This is a no connection or long leg story and if it is that,I won't be here to share it anyway. |
Brunel: If you use bullet points and a summary underneath, everyone will be the happier for itThanks for that suggestion. Will try that in the second part of the thread |
iykemoney90: same old sh*t, just a different formThanks for this anyway. I think you need to stop the believe that everything you see is just another s**t like you mentioned. I am not posting this to sell anything. But why not see what i have got to say first before concluding. I am sharing my story here and all i want to do is to share the story to show Nigerians who are without a job that getting a job is not what many use to think of like blasting CV all around and applying for jobs like every dick and harry will do. I know what i am talking about brother because this is what i have experimented with and got results not once or twice before i damn the corporate world to be my own boss. |
Brunel: My brother anything you have to say it's best you post it here because the big family of Nairaland isn't gonna drive traffic cheaply to your blog. Cheers. Thanks Brunel. The whole post is up to around 9,000 words and will be too long for a single NL thread and that's why i split it to 6 parts. And also, the links i referenced to in the posts are also very and it will be insane to post the content of every referenced link with this thread. Stuffs in the 6 part thread where this is the first part is alone to learn what i intend to pass on and i don't need any cheap traffic like you said - all i intend to do is to share my stories with many Nigerian unemployed graduate who are still in the age of submitting CV all around and waiting for that lucky day to get the job they want. I am not selling anything here for anyone as well. It's just some great lesson i feel i should share. |
To every unemployed graduate and to those who need a better job.. Going to school is good but the problem today is what happens after graduates leave the four walls of our higher intuitions. I could remember when I was in school, all we dream about is a good paying job right after our NYSC program and you can all guess those types of jobs I’m talking about. These are jobs many people all dream of – banks, oil companies and the big spending and earning telecommunication firms. These are just where every graduate always pray to get a job with. But fast forward till today and you should know that the dream of yesterday has only be a dream which has never been fulfilled or realized. Today, I want to share something important with everyone here who has been looking for job or anyone who need a better job. It pisses me off today whenever I see my mates or anyone complaining of not getting a job. I really understand what it feels like to be in the frustrating period of spending months and even years at home doing nothing after applying for jobs all around but with little or no result to show for it. What really pisses me off is the fact that many job seekers are just ignorant of the fact that they are the ones who has been in the way of getting a job all these while. What do I mean by this? I’m not a serious religious guy but I’m a guy who knows some Bible verses off hand even if it means not remembering the exact verses and chapter but I can remember a passage in the bible that goes like this... “My people are perishing because they lack knowledge...” Now, let’s remove the word “perishing” and “knowledge” and let reframe this passage like this: “My job seekers are still without a job because they lack the right information on how to get a job even in these days of limited job and fiercely competitive job market.” That is just the bitter truth – many graduates today are still without a job because they lack the necessary knowledge and information they need to win the job hunting battle in today’s unfriendly job seeking reality. In this thread, I’m going to share a lot about smarter ways to go about getting a job as fast and easy as many would never have known of and I will also be sharing smart tips and strategies that has helped me land the job of my dream in just two weeks and also everything I’ve been doing in the past that has resulted in making employers running after me and calling me phone all days just to get me to work for them and when I say this – I’m not kidding but you will get to know why that happened soon as you follow this thread. A Brief Background about Me And The Story Of My Dream Job In Just Two Weeks I graduated with a Bsc in Computer Science in Oct 2008 but before graduation, I’ve been the guy who knows that I’m not made for being an employee and that reality and fact has always been my guarding light in school. I spend not much time to get a first class degree just as many of my mates and there are even semesters that I keep skipping lectures just to watch my forex trades back in the days when the forex craze is all everywhere but I must say that I made lot of money then that many of my class mates will always tell me that I like money a lot but will you blame me since I know that even if I have a first class, I’m still going to need a job to make money but what if I can make those money now even without needing a job? To cut the story short, I graduated and went for my NYSC program in June 2009 which helped me served in a big federal agency in which a friend of my Dad is one of their Directors but I hate working there for that one year and I personally thwart any opportunity I had to be retained as a full staff which would have me being out of the country by today for my master degree but I declined that because I hate every single days working there and after completing my NYSC year, I opt to start my own small business firm with all the money I saved during my NYSC days and I saved a lot because I was well paid then as a corper and also, I have the privilege to serve not far from home where I was sheltered and feed for free. But after some months of trying to get my business off the ground without much traction because of lack of funds to work with, I decided to get a job at least to make some money to get my business off the ground. But I hate to follow the usual way of getting a job which has been applying for jobs online via all the job search sites and waiting for the miracle that will happen after that. I decided never to follow this same path that has rendered my best friend then a frustrated guy after spending a lot submitting his resume and applying for thousands of job and travelling all the way to Abuja, PH and far way Kano for job interviews which yielded nothing more than the usual “we will get back to you later”. Instead opted to find a better way to get the job I want and my job searching story begun...... This will be the first part of this 6 part series of post and I still have lots to say and share with everyone so keep tab with me here.
