DEPLORABLE STATE OF EYIETAN PRIMARY SCHOOL, SAPELE.

Permit me to bring to your notice the current state of Eyietan Primary School. This is a government owned primary school located along the stretch extension of Mission Road, Sapele, Delta State.

While I commend the effort of the state government together with the the intervention of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and all other academic adjoining bodies for the construction of new class room blocks and provision of modern educational aiding facilities, I must in same vane not fail to point out, that Eiyetan Primary School is the worse of all state primary school in Sapele, Delta State.

Our team visited the school premises yesterday Friday the 10th Day of November 2017, I must confess that what we saw is far worse than an eyesaw, as seen in the photos attached to this article. for God sake how can a oil rich state like ours abandon a school this way, should we be told that education is one of the key to economic growth and as such must be giving keen attention above others

I am using this medium to call on the state government to act quickly so as to re-fix this school.

There is no way a pupil can do well in such ugly circumstances

The Aiyetan Primary School in Sapele Local Government is a good study guide on how most public schools in Delta state have suffered untold decay and negligence.

The school has shortage of staff and regrettably there is no staff room for teachers who cluster in the corridors as their official office. It is always horrible for the teachers any time it rains as they normally run helter-skelter for cover.

Worse still, the dilapidated structure currently used as classrooms in is disheartening , is more or less, like a mad man's abode. The roofing sheets are corrugated and shattered, the floor is not properly paved and the open classrooms which are highly disorganised follow one another without any form of decency , they do not provide any good atmosphere for studies.

No toilet for staffs and pupils. The whole thing stinks. The school looks more or less like a poultry farm, a close look at some of the classrooms show there are no blackboards to teach the pupils, the classes are built without a blackboard, this is the extent education has gone down in Delta state.

As funny as this may sound, it is the gospel truth as any one in doubt can go and find out his or herself.

It is the wish of the pupils of this school to enjoy conducive atmosphere of studies so that they can be taught well and pass their exams with good marks.

To this effect, I am appealing to the Executive Governor, Delta State, Sen Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa the Commissioner for Education to consider the issue of this very school as a matter of urgency from imminent collapse.

The entire place is stinking and the only thing the government can do now is to act quickly.

Here’s how one family of five became a family of eight.

Six years ago, Robert and Nia Tolbert of Waldorf, Maryland welcomed their first child into the world. Then three years later, they became husband and wife when they got married on August 31, 2014.

This happened to be around the same time the couple was simultaneously expecting their second and third child, as they were soon to be parents of twin boys.

“We joked about having a big family, but we never thought it would happen to us,” Robert, who is a project manager with the federal government, told WUSA9. “We thought we were good with one or two, but here we are.”

Little did the Tolberts know, their family would get even bigger- by three to be exact. Although Robert and Nia both have multiples in their families, the couple never guessed that after twins they would be expecting triplets next.

During her ultrasound, Nia learned that she would be having two babies, but when she returned from the bathroom the nurse gave her a sonogram with an extra surprise. According to WUSA9, “The nurse told her, ‘There’s three. Baby A. Baby B. Baby C.'”

“It’s extremely rare. We’re talking less than one in 1,000 (births). That’s a very low chance for it happening to anyone in general,” said Dr. Rami Tabbarah, an OBGYN at Inova Women’s Hospital. “It’s very rare to have twins then triplets (naturally) in the same lifetime.”

Turns out, Nia hyper-ovulates, which is a rare occurrence when more than one egg ovulates at once. Nevertheless, Robert was shocked that their family would be growing by three, as his wife delivered the news in a gift bag with three onesies and a note that read: “Please accept this blessing from me and God. I think you’ll be overjoyed.”

The family will now be adding three baby girls to their three boys, 6-year-old Shai and 2-year-old twins, Riley and Alexander. Robert and Nia are expecting their new bundles of joy in early March.

It looks like it all balanced out. Congratulations to the Tolberts!

Danish aid worker Anja shared the story of three children who were tortured and abandoned in Akwa Ibom.

The children, Evelyn, Queen and 4-year-old Abraham were rescued two weeks ago and are doing well.

David reacted fast and went on a rescue together with our “Education Officer” Don Udowan and our “Child Development Officer” Nsidibe Orok. After help from the local chief in the village the children were spotted and brought to safety at “Land of Hope”

The case has been reported to the local police and is under investigation. The torture of one of the children was so severe that the child was taken to hospital immediately after the rescue. I was so sick to my bones when I saw the pictures of the torture !!!

The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have busted a group of money scammers in Idi-Araba. The suspect, Dare Yusuf, 31-year-old who resides at 1, Abayomi Jones, Oke-Ilube Ikotun Lagos, was arrested after tricking a road user into buying a substance claimed to double any cash by applying one ‘Adija’ to the money given.

The suspect in connivance with two other suspects (still at large) who specialize in defrauding innocent Lagosians of their hard earned money tricked a road user who does not want his name on print around Ilasa in Isolo area of Lagos State. The trio namely Seun, Ayo and Dare are suspected serial scammers who dupe unsuspecting members of the public using different tricks to rip them off their valuables and immediately desert the scene without a trace.

Dare, while speaking with RRS Decoy team, confessed the role each member of the group plays, their intrigues and how they share the loot afterwards. Ayo is the ‘Catcher’, Seun is the ‘Jejeti’ while he Dare is the ‘Sitter’. He disclosed that, the Catcher is the one who roams streets in Lagos for the victim. The Catcher approaches road users to inquest about a location he is going to and systematically tells the road user he didn’t get the description of the place and it’s important for him to get to the place because he is going there to sell one ‘Adija’ worth between N800,000 to N1m.”

After the catcher has chatted-up the would-be victim and has disclosed his purpose to sell the ‘Adija’, he asks to be directed to the location. This is the point the ‘Jejeti’ comes into their discussion showing more knowledge of directing the Catcher to where he claims to be going, but not for free as he will further tell the Catcher to settle him and the stranger.

The Catcher then requests for the would-be victim to accompany him to the point of sale of the ‘Adija’ and promises to give him and the ‘Jejeti’ a sum N200,000 each for helping him to the location.

Unfortunately for the stranger, he is the victim here. Both the Catcher and the Jejeti are working together to defraud whoever falls into their trap. The Jejeti then takes both the stranger and the catcher to a customized office in Idi-Araba where the other team player who is the ‘Sitter’ has been planted to complement the fraudulent efforts of his teammates.

Dare who is the ‘Sitter’ then collects the Adija from Ayo who has been playing the role of the Catcher and tells him he will buy it for N900,000 and that the Adija will help produce about N2m if he can get some chemical to add to it. Meanwhile, the stranger is also there watching the drama as the trio try to convince him into buying into the idea of making fast money. They tell the would-be victim to get some money after the scammers have tried to wash some money in a bucket of water after pouring the Adija liquid and brought out a piece of N1,000 note from it.

There was the case of a victim who was cornered at Ikate Surulere in Isolo area of Lagos sometime in August 2017 and was tricked into money doubling, over which they collected N46,000, his two phones, one iPhone 6 and Techno W6 to be converted to cash for the purpose of making more money. When asked how many victims the group trick every day and when they have been into the shady act, Dare said; he has been into the business for years just to survive with his family and that the least they do per day is one victim to avoid police arrest and at the same time change location for the next day.

Recovered from the suspect is the Techno W6 while investigations are still on to recover the iPhone 6 which he confessed to have been sold to get cash. The suspect has been transferred to the Police State CID for further investigations.

Commenting on the development, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Olarinde Famous Cole, advise members of the public to be more vigilant and report any suspicious act to the police.
