BusinessRe: Nigerian Manufacturers Capture Eastern, Southern African Markets by mckanute: 10:44am On Oct 23, 2014
I found out the other day that Cameroons biggest trading partner is Nigeria, not France or China. That means Cameroon has to do every thing to remain in good terms with Nigeria. Paul Biya should visit Nigeria at least once every two years.

1) Loads fast, got a GRADE B with YSlow
2) Easy to navigate

Points of improvement:
1) Too blurred, your color choice is deplorable. What's your point of reference; experts have one. See how the nytimes.com, guardian.co.uk, thedailybeast.com use colors and fonts in different ways.
2) Ask yourself; What has the watch got to do?
3) Buy a logo if you can't make one. Very important.
4) Put in only what is necessary, see point 2). The bottom logos might not be necessary if they have no links. Think about it. Also take care of horizontal white lines esp those at the footer. They aren't so necessary.
5)Learn to how Compress components with gzip. Its saves end-user's bandwidth - fastens download of website
ComputersRe: How To Download You Tube Videos by mckanute: 12:46pm On Apr 15, 2013
Power-up your browsers with add-on/extensions. In this case, Chrome/Firefox users can use DownloadHelper. Each time you see the icon dancing then its ready to download your video/gif/animations. Alternative, DownThemAll. This can download a complete website.

ComputersRe: I Want To Learn Hacking.please Help(advice) by mckanute: 5:35pm On Apr 04, 2013
First start by learning the basic. That's how we all started. Hacking can be done from different levels, but you must know the basic. If you're natural good at web program and find yourself comfortable with stuff like Php, then keep working on it. Others might prefer working on operating systems. I feel in love with Linux so i picked up Python and C. Its another mindset. Hackers love Linux and Open source because you have freely available code for you to test your abilities. I've written code for Ubuntu, Firefox and others without pay. That's what it takes to become a hacker.

You'll have to join platforms like Launchpad - software collaboration platform. Most of the stuff you use on Ubuntu is cooked there. You can even start by translating software from one language to the other.

It takes a lot of curiosity to become a good hacker. You could try security auditing tools like Kali Linux: http://www.kabatology.com/03/06/kali-linux-offers-new-brand-of-security-auditing-tools/ but if u don't know what is going on in the background then it doesn't serve at all. HACKER DON'T TEND TO ACCUMULATE OR BUY A LOT OF STUFF. They start from simple things/ideas/hardware like all old disposable smartphones and start testing, tweaking, loading new stuff. that's how they get to know the basics. LOVE
ComputersRe: Is Your System Too Slow? Here's The Help You Need by mckanute: 5:08pm On Apr 04, 2013
CCleaner is an excellent tool that helps you clean-up your browsers cache and more. I personally use it to free up memory from my fab-four browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and IE. It also purges Thunderbird email client. I'll also recommend Revo Uninstaller. Normal the built-in un-installer does an incomplete job. It doesn't control your Windows registry regedit.exe for remainders, so the registry bulks up with time and slows down your pc. Now abeg, don't grab any windows registry cleaner on the web and start using it, NO NO. You might run into serious trouble. ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE TOUCHING IT. Revo is freeware, it does a good job if you use it to uninstall your windows app.

After installing Revo also do this; Run it, click the Tools tab -> then AUTORUN MANAGER. Therein you'll see your startup-programs and their path. Jot down the apps listed and investigate them, many might be left-over apps u don't use anymore. Take them off. I never let the list go over five items. They drastically slow down boot-time.

Now to surf faster a dedicated DNS service might do the trick. Try OpenDNS or Google Public DNS. Both are free services. They can speed-up your internet 100 time. Use this program to test which is better for your zone. http://www.kabatology.com/12/29/find-the-fastest-dns-server-for-your-computer-with-namebench/

That's all i have for you SIR. Good day

Science/TechnologyWant To Become A Google Student Ambassador? by mckanute(op): 6:12pm On Mar 12, 2013
It’s that time of the year again, when we select students from universities across Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) to be part the Google Student Ambassador program. The second year of the program saw tremendous growth as it expanded from 6 to 12 countries, and grew from 28 to 97 universities with 160 Ambassadors within 1 year. The program also held its first training summit in Nairobi.

Google Student Ambassadors (GSAs) are student leaders on campus whose mission is to use technology to make a difference, not only in their universities, but also in their communities more widely. Ambassadors have helped improve their universities’ online presence by mapping over 60 African university campuses including the University of Ghana, and Nigeria’s Obafemi Awolowo University.

GSAs are improving collaboration and communication among students and faculty by conducting trainings on tools such as Google Apps for Education, Google+ for Education and YouTube for School. They have also helped students and faculty to take advantage of Google initiatives for academia like the Google Online Marketing Challenge, Google Summer of Code and Google scholarships.

With the skills picked up during their tenure, a number of GSAs have even gone on to start their own businesses. An example is Webcoupers [http://www.webcoupers.com/about/team/], a Nigerian digital marketing company that was started by Oluseyi Oladipo (GSA) and Adepoju Abiodun (GSA Alumni).

If you’re inspired by these examples, we invite you to enter for the 2013 program. Eligible students from all backgrounds should complete the application form [https://services.google.com/fb/forms/ssagsa2013/] before April 11, 2013. For more information on the Google Student Ambassador Program and other student opportunities in Sub Saharan Africa, visit our University Programs website[http://www.google.com/africa/universityprograms/].
WebmastersRe: Website Screen Resolution by mckanute: 7:09pm On Mar 09, 2013
Hey man, be careful, this is a common client/customer issue that should be handled with experience. What your client is asking is called "a mobile version of the website". OK!!! Now that's something extra. Don't do it without charging him/her for it. Not all clients want a mobile design for a website, cause not all websites need one. iPhone/iPad ovvero mobile websites are designed with different resolutions - that's obvious. Google for them. Create a sub-domain, something like http://www.mobile.numeris-ag.com and drop your mobile-web in there, but remember this is something extra.
WebmastersRe: What Is Wrong With Building 5 Page Websites For 5,000? I Do by mckanute: 6:34pm On Mar 09, 2013
Look for a cheap web hosting service in or out of Nigeria - it doesn't matter. Maybe you'll get a better deal with a foreign service. I'll suggest www.aruba.it - its cheap and efficient for small/medium websites. Then get someone to build a good CMS website. Remember websites grow rapidly, today you need only five pages tomorrow you're dealing with 50+ pages. With CMS like WordPress you create pages on-the-fly. Pages don't pre-exist, they come to life only when you want.
I hope this helps grin

It sickening - all that "black-energy" put to waste. Now tax-payers money would be spent to rebuild what idiots destroyed. Has this got to do with civic education? Yes. Vandalisation is a crime even in foreign land.
LiteratureAkata Witch: Young Adult Hero's Journey Of A Nigerian Witch by mckanute(op): 12:18pm On Mar 05, 2013
World Fantasy Award-winning novelist Nnedi Okorafor's debut young adult novel is Akata Witch, a beautifully wrought hero's journey story about Sunny, a young girl with albinism born to Nigerian parents in America, and then returned to Nigeria, where she discovers that she is a Leopard Person -- a born sorcerer.

.....

Young readers and adults who try Akata Witch will find it a marvellous and uplifting read, heartwarming in its portrayal of true freindship, heartbreaking in its portrayal of headstrong youth and the perils of pride. Woven throughout is an implicit commentary on America's relationship to Africa, the distinct identities of African Americans, Nigerians, and other West Africans, and the adolescent pain of trying to please your family even as you are discovering yourself.
