It's penalty shoot-out. So it can go either way. Thank you France for entertaining us with sublime football. ![]() |
Set-pieces is where I miss Antoine Griezmann. |
Congratulations to France. |
Antoine Griezmann has so far been an all-round player in this game. Also, T. Hernandez has been amazing. |
The most anticipated game is about to kick off in an hour or so from now. My take is that Morocco played great teams, a succession of European powers, Belgium, Spain and Portugal to get to this level. Tonight, they will be aiming to overcome France, a country which controlled Northern African countries for more than four decades. This proves that Morocco is not a pushover. They have the potential to advance to the finals. That said, I hope they don't approach this game as a means of getting back at France for past colonial times. It may backfire. Morocco should go in as underdogs, emotionally strong to withstand pressure because France will for sure run circles all-over them, in an attempt to frustrate their efforts. European football has always struggled against Northern African countries. Example of this was seen when Tunisia won their first match against (the reigning champions) France in their group stage match. So Morocco can match that energy. |
You know a great team when they don't settle for penalties. Well deserved win for France. |
I'm happy Saka didn't take the penalty. It would have been another story of a Black man depriving England of the opportunity to reach the semi finals. Let it bet their kind that cost them the opportunity.. |
I have always said that when the English can't have their way, they resort to any means to get a penalty. They were denied this time. Game on.. France for the win. Doubt it. |
England couldn't find a way to score but sort for a cheap penalty. Always their way when they can't find a way.. |
The UK media is low key wishing that Portugal progresses to semi-finals. Africans on here are still busy arguing who is really African.. From the onset, I have always believed in our Northern African Morocco. They have an aggressive style of play that can be likened to the likes of Spain, Italy and Portugal. This is why it has always been difficult for Sub-saharan African team, particularly Nigeria to beat them. Once they take the lead, they will frustrate the living day light out of you, creating foul opportunities (here and there) by any given opportunity; all in an attempt to mess with your psyche. They are the only ones thus far to understand the cognitive of European football. It is done.. Morocco is the 'First Time' Semi World Cup Africa finalist. Doubt them at your peril... |
Morocco is through to quarter finals... ![]() |
Another miss for Spain. |
A miss for Spain. |
1st penalty good start for Morocco. |
Slawomirr:Can't agree more. North Africans have this resilience and mental strength which Sub-saharan Africa struggles to match. |
A big miss for Morocco. Hope it doesn't cost them this match. |
spencekat:Not sure I understood.. |
Morocco has looked more impressive so far. |
mcobinad:Penalty saved... game on. |
Penalty awarded to Tunisia. |

Senegal has so far been the better team (against Tunisia) with more counter attack opportunities and chances at goal. However, have failed to convert creative opportunities into goals. |
I don't know what is wrong with African teams. They never seem to take the lead for a long time. |

With the result thus far, Nigeria played really well. |
GAME OVER. WIN FOR TEAM #AFRICA! |
GOAL TO POLAND! |
NCAN:A Serb player nearly sustained one towards the end of the match. Damn, this new technology! |
Game is nearly over. Well deserved victory to the Serbs! |
The Serbs have strong legs and hold onto balls very well unlike Nigerian players! |
GOAL FROM SERBIA! WHAT A STRIKE! |
