Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week & Style House of Files present the Fashion Business Series: ‘The Future of Fashion’. The event will hold on April 15, 2016.

According to SHF,

On the 15th of April 2016, The Fashion Business Series (FBS) platform will return to facilitate conversations with key players in Government, the Private Sector and the Fashion Industry to develop a roadmap to position the fashion industry as a significant contributor to the nation’s GDP. Hosted by Style House Files, founders, Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week and sponsored by PAL Pensions and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), the Fashion Business Series will serve as a forum for exchanging ideas, networking and exploring strategies to grow the industry.

Themed, “The Future of Fashion”, this edition of FBS will focus on manufacturing and how to reduce the cost of operations for profit maximization. Commenting on the theme, Ronke Adeola, Project Manager – FBS, said, “Fashion practitioners have been struggling to find ways to reduce the cost of manufacturing. Once the industry is able to drive down this critical cost of operations, profits will increase which will help grow the industry. With an economic agenda to increase export opportunities, it’s imperative we tackle this issue to foster growth in all areas of the value chain” Opening its doors to private sector practitioners, textile companies, retailers, & manufacturers, fashion retailers, luxury fashion brands, designers, and fashion entrepreneurs, FBS will also touch on other critical sectors of the fashion industry such as retail, e-commerce, PR, communications and more. Industry stakeholders will discuss on varied topics including: ‘Retail and ‘Etail’: Maximizing Opportunities and Reducing Risk’, ‘Communicating Fashion’, ‘Exporting Fashion to the World’ amongst others.

Facilitated by PAL Pensions, FBS will also feature a VIP Signature Session, titled “The Next Level”. Open to fashion entrepreneurs operating for a minimum of five years, the session will host thought leaders in Fashion and the Private Sector as they discuss how to build a sustainable business. “To build an iconic, sustainable brand, certain systems have to be in place and a pension plan is one of them.

As conversations increase concerning expanding the role the fashion industry plays in the economic landscape, there is a real opportunity to develop indigenous iconic brands and a need for businesses to be rightly positioned to attract game-changing growth opportunities. We look forward to an interactive and impactful session” comments (Adaora Ude, Head, Branding & Communications, PAL Pensions).

The Fashion Business Series will hold on the 15th of April 2016 at The Metropolitan Club, Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island, from 9am – 2pm

The collection is about my personality, my style, and because my style is different, we have decided to make it available to my fans. We also made it in form of jewellery so that everybody can wear it. I am an African woman, but I do not wear Iro and Buba about, so I have decided to mix both African and modern culture together, and call it Afropolitan,”

Fashion / How To Look Fashionable On A Low Budget by Mcrun: 6:23pm On Feb 03, 2016
When you think of fashion icons, celebrities and people in the world of high fashion immediately come to mind, yes?

If there’s one thing these people have in common, it’s lots of love for fashion. And of course, lots of money to fund it.

So where does that leave the rest of the world?

Well, you simply find ways to express your style in ways that don’t hurt your pocket. Want in?

Here’s how you go about it:

1. Don’t spend money on clothing items you can’t afford.

You’re probably thinking “Obviously!”. Well, by the time you find yourself seriously considering buying a suit (six times your salary!) all because you LOVE the fit and your friends say you look so nice, don’t say you weren’t warned. Unless it’s for a special occasion which you saved for, then it’s perfectly acceptable.

2. Buy quality staples.

That means investing properly in the clothes you’ll probably be wearing in the next 5 years. These staples differ based on personal style and lifestyle. For example, if you work in a more corporate environment, you should invest in quality work wear.
Don’t invest in any thing less than top of the line quality because in the long run, cheap clothes are more expensive. Which leads us to…

3. Don’t invest a lot of money in trends.

We’re not saying you should buy fake clothing items. We’re saying that you don’t need to buy top quality items that you’ll probably get tired of eventually and wonder why you spent so much on.

4. Keep your eyes and ears open for sales.

Full quality for half the price? Why not? Just be careful what you buy in the name of getting a “good deal”.

5. Choose quality and affordability over brand (name).

Yes, you look absolutely breathtaking in the Michael Kors dress. No, you can’t afford it. However, there’s a high quality affordable no-name dress that you equally look breathtaking in. Our advice? Take the no-name dress. Your pocket will thank you later.

6. Don’t look down on secondhand clothes and accessories.

Fact: If those clothing items could last that long, they’re probably original.

You could get some of the best deals when secondhand shopping. Plus, there are actually a lot of secondhand designer items out there. Just make sure the clothes are still at the beginning of their life-span.

7. Take care of your clothes.

This might seem trivial but it’s actually very important. After acquiring quality clothes and accessories that you love and suit your taste, you need to maintain them. Not maintaining them means more money being spent to replace them prematurely. This could be easily avoided with some extra care.

Now, armed with these seven tips, go out there and make us proud by looking all high fashion-ish without having empty pockets.

Do you have any extra tips? Let us know in the comments, we’d like to know your thoughts.

Celebrities / Read The Statement From 9ICE Regarding Toni Payne And Once Bitten Twice Shy by Mcrun: 1:56pm On Jan 22, 2016
9ice has released a statement regarding his ex baby mama, Toni Payne and his hit single, Once Bitten Twice Shy.

People have been accusing Toni of cheating on 9ice with Ruggedman and they said the singer released the track because of her.

Abolore Akande better known as 9ice has released a statement to debunk the rumours. Read below!

“It has come to my attention that some people were up to some mischief harassing Toni Payne regarding an evil rumor that was spread years ago. I would like to use this opportunity to state categorically that the song Once Bitten Twice shy was not and can never be about Toni Payne. I have NEVER accused her or told anybody that she cheated on me because she DID NOT. It did not happen and it was never an issue. Let me be very clear. Toni Payne NEVER cheated on me. Some marriages do not work for different reasons.

Unfortunately I released my album at a very delicate time in our relationship and a song from the album was taken the wrong way and things were blown out of proportion due to my silence.

I have apologized to her in person and she has accepted my apology. I have moved on to a fresh start and she has moved on too. I would appreciate if the general public do the same. “I would appreciate if people refrain from insulting her for something she is not guilty of”

Once again, the song Once Bitten Twice Shy was NEVER about TONI PAYNE. It was just a song. I wish I had come out sooner but I cannot change the past, I can only try and make amends for the future.

It is a new dawn for us all and I hope this closes the topic permanently. If it does not, maybe it is best I release a song clarifying this issue for the 100th time because what started all this was a song and all my effort to clear that air via interviews have been futile. I assure you, I will stop at nothing to make sure this evil rumor is put to sleep once and for all. Again It was never my intention to cause her pain. My apologies to everyone who was affected. God Bless!”
