If they cannot match your salary expectation, it's a simple matter of walking away (or chasing them away with your pay demand).

Most of the jobs advertised by the company have minimum of 8-10 years experience. In upstream oil and gas company, such level of experience attracts between 1.5m - 2m, or higher in the case of top IOCs.

They are not an oil company, but a pension fund manager. I have it on good authority that they do better than all the pension management companies. So I think 1m to 1.5m per month is a decent salary expectation for them.
Well said

They are not an oil company.

They are in investment/pension/fund management industry. Their benchmark companies are ARM, StanbicIBTC etc but they do better than those. But please don't expect oil company condition of service. They are not an oil company.
The thing is, people salary expectation differs. Wat A considers as good salary might be bad to B. I dont know what oil and gas pays, i also do not know wat top paying banks pay but i know i have expectations and sometimes i feel its proper for companies to poimt out salary range for specific job.

That said, if once salary expectation is between 1m to 1.5m per month net, do u consider that a range the this company can match? Or do u consider it outrageous and a range only for oil/gas?

I am in Ibadan but planning to leave for Ilorin tomorrow, I want to know my fate before leaving. Though I was told they don't send regret mails, only successful candidates would be contacted, but let us know if we have any successful candidate being mailed yet.

While I love this, there exist a danger of disenfranchising millions. But nonetheless increases the transparency of the process.

2. Yes, you an apply but be ready to learn the new technology.
So is the Andela fellowship full-time requiring me to resign from my current employment
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Andela: IT Training And Job by mcthewills: 10:46pm On Jul 11, 2017
Good day peeps
I have been following this post for a while and I very well appreciate all the inputs and enlightenment. However, I have some question which requires clarification.

1 . Will the Andela fellowship work for someone who isnt based in Lagos(I am based in Abuja) and who is unwilling to relocate to lagos? Or must all Andela fellows be passed in Lagos? I hear someone mentioning that some of the training are online and that you do not even need to resign from your current employment, However, I need clarification from a fellow or someone closely associated with Andela.

I am based in Abj and have flexible working hours. As such, I can find time to attend 2 week boot camp if invited. If subsequently there are short training programs that requires me to attend, I can schedule my program to attend. But i might not be able to resign and relocate to Lagos.

2. If I am an experienced software developer , am i also qualify to join this fellowship, especially if there are technologies in the andela fellowship that are new to me (e,g reactjs, nodejs etc)?

Good day all
I have for a while followed this thread and its been quite educational and inspirational. I am so grateful robonski15 for starting up this thread. I am grateful to all the professionals who shared there experiences as well. I am impressed by how much you shared your experience to all. This thread must have helped a number of fish farmers to rectify errors and improve yield.

That been said, it seems like the enthusiasm with which this thread was started isnt much there any longer. There hasn't been much post in the past few days.

As such, I implore the experts in the house to consider organizing training workshop. I am sure that myself and a number of newbies who go through this post on a daily basis will be interested in attending.

House, it will be nice to hear you thoughts on this.

Regards

You guys should cool ur asses down, FAAN is just chilling till when NIS will have dere list too, some people took part in the Faan recruitment and same people are also taking part in the NIS recruitment, they just need to wait for NIS's final list, so that one person won't be given two APLs, remember, dey are both federal jobs. So be informed. Don't be in a hurry! MAy 19th. Take note of that date.

Source: Masquellett.com, that's me! Individual opinion, don't crucify me pls. Thanx. grin.
The most illogical comment i've ever seen. And unfortunately, this rubbish will sound reasonable to some humans. If what is pasted above is reasonable to you, then you don't deserve an APL.

Its obvious u speak from ur grounded level of understand. If u know wat faith can do, hmmm. I pory u sha. Ask shedrack meshack and abednego. I av seen pple that are far far below qualify for a job but God favored dem. I av seen 3rd class graduate holding a very critical position in an organisation that a 1st may not be able to hold. Wen God's favor is upon a man, he break principles just to favor that man, and d only way God's favor can be upon u is only by faith. David was just a small litu boy wen he killed d Almighty goliath, looking at it from man perspective, he was not qualified or fit by every ramification to challenge goliath, infact they were pple among d isrealite sent that were bigger in height, muscle and strength than david, but God's favour was upon david and he did not only kill goliath but he cut off his head. Faith is all u need to live a godly fulfilled life. God bless You
Thanks so much for your explanation. To start with, I am a devoted christian and quite understand the power of faith. I also have read and quite believe in the faith displayed by the 3 Hebrew and David himself. God intervened in there issues to prove a much bigger point and to witness to Nebuchadnezer and the world(in the case of the 3 hebrew) that he alone is the almighty and he alone commands absolute power. The good accomplished by such intervention from God is monumental and not what i'll need to start discussing here.

I am but a human and not immune to injustices and death. While faith is commendable, the fact remains that it will not guarantee me a place in FAAN. There are atheist and Muslims and pagans too who though not qualified have find themselves benefiting in a process. What caused it? Faith? If I am fully qualified for a job in FAAN and we are competing for a slot and God by his miraculous intervention deny me the slot(more qualified person) and pass it on to you(less qualified), what will you call that? What will you call it if it was the MD of FAAN that denied you the sloth and gave it to his nephew? Nepotism? Injustice? Unfairness? Callousness? Corruption?

The good thing about faith(when misapplied) is that it enables you explain away certain things. When a guy that have so much faith is denied the job, he looks for other things to hold on to. e.g The guy in the post before yours said if he is denied, that will be an indication to Him that God have reserved better/bigger things for Him. However one choose to explain it away is none of my business. provided it suits him and gives him calmness of heart. But one thing is certain, some with so much faith wont make it to the next phase while some with so little faith either by stroke of luck or because they are qualified will make it to the next phase.

I wish you the best.

If you participated in the process in Enugu, you would know that these people fear the noise we make here on NairaLand. Complaints made here were addressed and resolved, with the resolution communicated to us.

You may not have faith in God, good for you, but never discourage people who do from professing theirs.

You call me a desperado.. I will save you the trouble and confirm that I am one, as I know I participated excellently in all the recruitment exercises and oral interview. SO NO! NO!! NO!!! I will not want to be cheated. I will not want to be defrauded by a system that was termed fair. I am not against FAAN fielding in ogas' candidates, but I will like for them not to term the process free and fair if they do not plan on seeing it through.

I understand that you are used to failure, disappointment and being cheated. Sorry about that bro, but not everybody can take SH.IT like you will.... So stop advising me to keep quiet and move on. If you feel a need to, just do me one favour, SHOVE IT UP UR AR.SE!!!
So if u r cheated u'll sue for damages ba?

case closed.

All the best

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Faanrecruitment Online Aptitude Test. by mcthewills: 3:53pm On Apr 02, 2015

This was my fear. I actually feared it was a contorted conspiracy by FAAN to allow the ogas-at-the-top to field in their candidates without suspicion. Otherwise, why didn't they simply release an updated list and invite only those they felt were qualified, that is the high scorers as was claimed on their website. This is no time for us to keep quiet. Let us remember we have a voice with the power of the social media, so let us make enough noise, so as to force them not to taint the fairness of the process.

Those with numbers of the staff should it here, so we can keep calling them and reminding them of how dangerous delay is. Let us keep getting info and sharing it here
Desperado. Oya start making the noise na.

No doubt they'll push in there people. No amount of noise can change that. You just pray that they include you in the list. And if they don't, you move on.

There r 2 things to this exercise, its either you are called or you aren't. Its either you get the job or you don't. Some will get the job, some will be disappointed. Some keep shouting faith here as if your level of faith determines your eligibility.

Niger people self.

If you are an atheist and they judge you qualified and you are favored by quota system, you'll get the job while the other under-qualified born again christian will not. No amount of faith can change that. So lets all be realistic.

I wish you the best
PoliticsRe: What If Jega Becomes EFCC Chairman? by mcthewills: 12:50pm On Apr 01, 2015
Buhari have talked about making EFCC independent and Autonomous in his manifesto. If he accomplishes that with support from The legislator and make someone with strong character like JEGA the chairman, then that'll be something wonderful. However, we also need some kind of remodeling of our constitution as regards the judiciary. We do not want situation where cases remains in court eternally
