sconp: Help anyone 1. The answer is the difference between the sum of even numbers and the sum of odd numbers(whichever is greater). Hence; (5+5+7) -(2+10) = 17-12= 5. ☑️ 2. Add vertically, the sum of each column is 14. So 14 - (2+4+4) = 4 ☑️ 3. This one took my time... The sum of the preceding two terms minus 4 gives the next term. That's; 3+6 - 4 = 5 6+5 - 4 = 7 5+7 - 4 = 8... So, 11+15 - 4 = 22 ☑️ |

naturalwaves: If the probability of having 2 students with the same birthday like you said is almost 1 which I agree with. THEN, the probability of not having 2 same birthdays will be extremely close to 0.
Moreover, the fact that there are 100 physical students does not mean that to get the figure from the group, you must have a digit or something. Your probability can even tend far far towards 0. Check my solution on the previous page. . I saw your solution, I solved it same way too. Thanks for adding this |

dejt4u: but in reality, this is not valid Exactly what I have solved here, *just added that the probability of having at least a pair of students whose birthday is the same will be: 1-0.0000003073 which is 0.99999... And that's approximately 1. So if we pick out a pair of students at random assuming that they are sure to share birthdays (probably 1) then we have 98 students left, out of which there may still be some pairs of same birthdays. There's got to be how to get a specific number of students who are likely not to share birthdays... Maybe someone can help figure this out. |

Education › Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by Mechanics96(m): 7:58pm On Jul 08, 2018 |
Ajibade105: Example II solution is wrong. Before you use L'Hospital's rule, you must have used direct substitution and be sure you got an indeterminate/undefined expression like 0/0, infinity/infinity and to mention a few. Example II using direct substitution will have given you the answer you looking for. The answer is zero and not 2... You can modify example II if you want to use L'Hospital's rule. Just replace x with x-2 in the denominator and your solution will be true...
**cheers** Actually, I wasn't so much abt the question, just to tell him the "how". It was a non verified question, don't mind me Even... limx---2 (x^2 -4/2) = limx-- 2 [(x-2)(x+2)/x ]= 0/2 = 0 Even the best of us make mistakes. Thanks bro! |
