The 3rd edition of the annual Ibom Christmas Celebration was official unveiled on Sunday the 24th of October 2021 at the Ibom Icon Hotel & Gold Resort in the outskirt of the city capital Uyo.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Rt Hon. Orman Esin said that the Ibom Christmas celebration is so far the biggest fiesta in Africa haven recorded a total attendance of over 30,000 people daily for 32 days and over N1.6 billion business transactions.

He also said that the Ibom Christmas celebration is one event that has put Akwa Ibom State on the map around Nigeria and Africa, and today, people can talk about Akwa Ibom State as a place to be in terms of culture and tourism.

The Honourable Commissioner, in his words – “The Ibom Christmas Celebration creates a very viable platform for fun seekers as well as businesses. The event not only gives businesses great media millage, brand exposure and network opportunities, it also offers a viable platform for business networking for all classes of business; multi nationals and other organizations alike”.

He then called on corporate organizations and individuals to take up sponsorship slot in the event so as to reap the innumerable benefits the event has for their businesses.

He further hailed the visionary leadership of His Excellency Governor Emmanuel Udom, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State for his foresight, encouragement and support towards the development of tourism in the state.

The event was attended by Sen. Akon Eyakenyi Sen. representing Eket senatorial district. AKS; Mr. Iniobong Akpabio, Chairman Akwa Ibom state Tourism Board; Mr. Charles Udoh .Comm. of Environment. AKS; Mr Ekerete Udom Emmanuel, Younger brother to the governor; Mr. Adetope Kayode; Nollywood Icon, Ini Edo; fashion mogul Mudi Africa; a cross section of other dignitaries form the state and ex BBNija house mates; White Money, Liquorose and Emmanuel.

The Managing Director, Ecobank Nigeria, Patrick Akinwuntan has reiterated that the Pan African bank remains the payment gateway for Africa.

Akinwuntan who was speaking on the topic “Optimizing sustainable trade, investment and regional economic integration through effective partnerships between ECOWAS institutions and regional institutions and the organized private sector” at a webinar organised by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) to commemorate the 46th anniversary of ECOWAS on Monday, stated that the bank’s state of the art digital payment and collection platform is promoting trade and commerce across the African continent.
