Starting Thursday, September 8, PC players will be able to dip their toes into Halo 5: Guardians map-making. As previously covered, 343 Industries and SkyBox Labs are bringing the game's Forge mode over to Windows 10 -- that's the day it'll roll out as a free download on the Windows Store.

The companies are promising "support for mouse and keyboard for highly refined object placement and manipulation, higher-resolution displays (including 4K) for stunning graphic fidelity, the ability to host and play custom matches for up to 16 players, and a new content browser that spans platforms. Creators will be able to download levels from the Forge community created on both Windows 10 PC and Xbox One, which they can then customize, or create their own from scratch."

You might, for instance, want to play some digital beer pong. That's already possible in Halo 5 on Xbox One thanks to intrepid Forge creators, and soon enough, it will be possible on PC as well. Definitely do that in lieu of the entire Halo 5: Guardians experience arriving on PC, which sadly isn't happening (yet).

Pokemon Go made record profits in its first month, but the reason King sold for $6 billion, for example, wasn't Candy Crush's first month (a paltry $25 million earned to Go's $200 million), but sustained engagement.

After peaking 2-3 weeks after release, Pokemon Go's worldwide number of "daily active users" is steadily trending down.

Given how popular the app was at first -- it was outpacing some of the biggest social media apps out there -- a comedown was going to happen.

The question might be: when does the downward trend plateau?

If there's enough people playing and spending money daily, Niantic can continue to do stuff like make the team leaders actually helpful. Maybe mass popularity will even swell back up.

It just pulled massive crowds in Taiwan and isn't even out in China. Going from 45 million active players to 30 million is a drop, but there are still 30 million active players.

Final Fantasy XIV is one of the best MMOs right now, and you can play it on PC, PS3, and PS4, all on the same servers.

Dope right? Well, the Xbox One is still out of the equation, but that ever-changing situation has once again opened itself up for Square Enix and the XIV team.

Speaking to director Noaki Yoshida at gamescom, DualShockers asked about the possibility of a port, to which Yoshida replied that they are "meeting with Microsoft next month" to discuss it.

Hopefully we'll get some details out of it, because while Microsoft claims that it has opened up the floodgates to its system, it could still have some sort of holdup -- that, or Sony might be refusing to work with the company.

Perspective-shifting platformer Fez came out all the way back in 2012. It was first announced in 2007. Last week, a patch was released for it that brings nearly a decade’s worth of development on the title to a close.

Programmer Renaud Bédard, with help from Ethan Lee and a group of testers (many of them speedrunners), released Fez v1.12 on Friday, an update that unifies the code between the PC and Mac versions, makes music streaming more efficient and improves the screen scaling used to display the pixels at different resolutions, removing the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

They’re relatively minor things, but it’s both a surprise (given the fact that this is a singleplayer platformer and not a multiplayer game) and somehow not a surprise that Fez, with its protracted and public development cycle, would see something like this so long after its release.

The update closes the book on the active life of a game that was the first real indie darling (of the press, at least), won a bunch of awards before it was even out, took forever to actually come out, ended up being very good but also ended up becoming the centrepiece narrative of a documentary that focused on some troubles it had behind the scenes.

The Titanfall 2 "Open Multiplayer Tech Test" will be running from August 19 to the 21st on PS4 and Xbox One (sorry, PC gamers). This will feature two modes and two maps. The modes are Bounty Hunt, a 5v5 variant that features AI-controlled bots, and Pilots vs Pilots, an 8v8 mode with only players.

A second weekend of testing will run from August 26 to the 28th. This will include everything from the first weekend along with an additional map and mode. Amped Hardpoint will take center stage; the mode will be a new 6v6 gametype that allows players to "amp" up control points to double their score.

Titanfall 2 launches in October, so the wait isn't too long. Hopefully people stick around this time.

The last time I wrote about Minecraft on the Oculus Rift, I was taken aback by the fact that it hadn't actually come out yet -- any prior releases were just community mods, with a Gear VR release dangling on the side.

But Microsoft has announced that the Windows 10 Edition of the game will be updated today, and will automatically warp in Oculus Rift support. In essence, if you own the Windows 10 Edition (which is still behind the proper PC Java version) in any capacity, you can hook up your Rift and play. The Xbox One controller is recommended, but a good ol' mouse and keyboard will work.

By the time the new build catches up to the old, it'll bring a lot of these cool advancements with it, as well as the lure of cross-platform play (which it already sports on several platforms).

At E3 2001, Affinix Software debuted an RPG by the title of Infinity. The game was in the vein of classic Final Fantasy titles and looked to be a rather engrossing experience. Due to the impending launch of the Game Boy Advance, however, Infinity was eventually cancelled and the developer closed its doors.

Flash forward to 2016 and it seems the game has risen from the grave. In the first update in nine years, the Affinix blog explains a little of what this released ROM has:

"Today we are pleased to announce the release of Infinity for Game Boy Color in unfinished form! We've made a ROM file available, as well as the source code. The game is in mostly the same state as it was when we stopped developing it in 2001, but with some recent polishing (bugfixes, missing assets added, typos corrected, etc). The ROM is configured to end about a quarter of the way through, before you encounter any incomplete areas, and thus we've labeled it as a preview."

Eggs aren’t supposed to do anything in Pokémon Go, other than eventually produce a new baby critter.
Some players, however, are taking advantage of a new exploit that forces eggs to mess with the entire game.

Reports around the web are circulating that some players are finding unbeatable gyms. Somehow, players have figured out how to station eggs as gym leaders. The thing is, eggs have no moves, and they have no HP. According to players, once an egg goes up on a gym, it cannot be defeated or dethroned.
