@ Everybody because we are in a confused nation where things are being done with ambiguity and i have never seen any blue print by Nigeria Government to say which is better by virtue of placement in Govt establishment HND & Bsc start with GL 08 ST 02 please ask the confussionists what is the difference and some even argued that when it comes to practical HND is better so which one is superior then? When it comes to emolument those that attended health related institutions are well paid than most master holders in other fields. If I may ask a farmer (crop production scientist) who plants to feed the health-workers didn't he or she deserved to be paid well because no food no life so all depends on the attention or recognition, it was not like that before but when Gowon was the head of state he started the policy to favor his wife like our president's wife who is a PS in her state how can we justify all these.

NOT ONLY WES my friend is in one of the best university in Moscow he used his HND for Master programme and he was giving scholarship for Phd programme during the course of his master programme his HND certificate was evaluated to Russian Degree it read Btech and trust Russia they will never use WES or US standard this is another sources

PASHA1: HND is the worst qualification especially in engineering. You Think that you are an engineer, but you are not. You are not a technician as well becuase you are a bit higher in level. If you were Newton but with HND, then you are nothing. It is a respectless qualification. My best advice is to and study for a degree starting from zero. I have lost my hair because of HND.

@ Everybody I am a living witness I am currently in the Virginia state, USA studying Master in Software engineering I had HND in computer science from The Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti and I was exempted from taking any prerequisites which is 15 credit hour because I have already done them in my ND/HND whereas there are some university degree holders that were made to register prerequisites courses I even had a friend from Uganda who has a university degree from Uganda she cannot register any courses because of prerequisites. Moreso, I have just sent my results to WES for evaluation, I will give you the true standing of HND certificate in the United State.

On most serious note ND/HND has more quality than university Degree it may sound funny because I have friends who attended universities in Nigeria.
1 Polytechnic Education does not give room for secondary education revision while in the university system most courses done in the first three semesters are secondary school subjects like biology maths econs physics etc

2 Most Polytechnic students (ND) that crossed to university to complete degree are often best students of that set they joined in 200 level

3 Polytechnic systems are practical oriented learning system while university systems pay little attention to practical

4. In Federal & state Civil service HND & Bsc are being placed on GL 08 ST 02

5 Well in the university you may found many doctors and professors but while in the polytechnics are limited doctors but mostly master's and first degree but in the real sense those universities Doctorate degree holders are they truely Doctorate holders, Yes! I can authoritatively tell you most of them are bagging doctorates via godfatherism, if their godfather who is a professor transfer from UNN to OAU they will also transfer while most polytechnic lecturers" qualifications are gotten thru hard-working because almost all polytechnics are not B Sc. awarding institution.

But if you are judging by context of how university and polytechnic were created you may be wrong or right
you may wrong if NUC & NBTE were created for chop-chop purposes or they really meant it but in my own opinion I assumed the formal purpose of creation
