Can a debt in d UK for a insignificant amount of 200pounds affect visa to Canada and US. The money was borrowed from an independent loan company.

Hey guys,

I loaned some money from independent loan providers in the UK while I was studying. I just left the UK, i need to know if it would affect my UK visiting visa application.

The amount I owe is 150 pounds.

You will be more than fine, but getting a recent letter from your uni to support that will help, cos though its indicated in the CAS, the ECO may look at the date the CAS was issued and thought maybe the uni have refunded you the money.

So getting a recent letter will show that the uni still own u.

I agree with u but this is a case of somebody taking money out and returning it within an hour, the 28days rule hasn't really worked for UKBA as more and more pple are winning appeals made based on 28days rule.

My mate was in similar situation last yr, he was refused visa extension based on the 28days rule, he had all the money in 2 different account, he moved the money into one account b4 submitting his application but cos the day he moved the money ran short of 28days rule, the ECO refused his application stating that the money hasn't stayed 28days even as the money had stayed 28days in separate bank accounts b4 been moved into one account and my mate made a note of that in his application.

I encouraged him to appeal rather than re-applying, the hearing date set and i went with him for some support, the UKBA did not turn up in the tribunal centre, the case file was left with the Judge and it took him just 20mins to pass his judgement in favour of my mate, just few questions were asked about his course and we left the tribunal centre happy, about a month later the UKBA sent his visa.

@justwise, with d uni owing me 300 pounds of maintenance and indicating it on my CAS, do you think I wud be fine?? Please advice

One more thing, does the money in my account still count even if i get d joint account, cos my friend has agreed to make me a joint account holder, by my understanding, d joint account should only show dat I had the 100 pounds removed on dat day, so i suppose I cud print both statement. the joint account doesnt necessarily need to show 1200 pounds, pls advice

hey man thanks alot, see lemme explain in more detail, I had abt 1360 in my account and i was expecting 100 pounds 2 hit my account from a friend, so i mistakenly withdrew 250 pounds from d 1360 just before the 100pounds reflected in my account, so when i checked my balance i had abt 1110 pounds. I rushed back to d bank to deposit 100 pounds immediately, this was around 1pm ish,

I had the bank print a ministatement dis is how it is:

Hey guys, its 28 working or banking days not calendar days, i had d money put in my account on the 16th of May 2011 but over dis weekend i mistakenly moved 20pounds from my savings account (where d 1200 is) to my main account, but i returned it immediately, so i think i am gonna have 2 start all over again!

Hey Guys, I am currently doing my post graduate in business administration and I intend to continue with my masters of business administration in the same university. My issues are as follows:

1. I put the required 1200 pounds for my maintenance in my bank account and the 28th day will be on the 29th of June 2011.

2. My current visa will expire on the 20th of July, 2011.

3. the balance of my school fees is 1250 pounds which i will pay before i apply for an extension.

I need to know if the time gap between when i apply and when my visa expires is appropriate, that is, i wont get penalized for applying too late and also, if i am legal 2 remain in the UK while my application is being processed, I really need ur help guys, cheers

Guys, I am a Nigerian studying in dubai, I just finished my bachelors degree and I applied for UK student visa for my masters, I have provided the embassy here with everything they asked for, actually i applied on the 5th and on the 8th, they sent me a message saying my visa application is ready for collection; because of the eid I couldnt collect it until 2morrow, is there a possibility i could get the visa, my application was straightforward

But can I still apply with the company account, its in my father's name, Someone advised that my dad gets a letter of credibility and a letter from d bank stating the fund will be available to him (this is for the savings account).
